fella from the daily record, who a lot are saying is usually spot on, saying everton have agreed with tierneys agent a 5 year contract valued at around 85k per week, yet to agree a fee with celtic though, interesting, surely starting left back if those wages are correct?

I said a couple of days ago this was happening. The details were a bit wide of the mark on my part but this is a very strong rumour that seems to be gathering pace.
Would be a great signing.

Be interesting to see if it does come off pauly could be some signing, taking in to the quality signings in positions we actually need factor.

I like to judge a new manager on his first signing.
Marco would be right up there with the best of them if he pulls this one off.
He is quality and will only get better wblue2.
If he identifies the key positions that we need strengthening and hopefully plays only 1 defensive midfielder then I will be a happy blue.

Think the figures are a bit high that’s getting put about, 85k to 140k in 5 years if targets are met. Sounds more like a Walsh deal than the new regime.

Hi Paul, when you say you like to judge a new manager on his 1st signing, I am assuming you are being ‘tongue in cheek’ or could you elaborate? It’s not the 1st time I’ve head this from someone and it’s always perplexed me a bit .

ST your right, 1St things 1st the news is coming from the Record up North. (not the best) and secondly and more important for me is that Celtic has x2 friendlies today, one AM and one PM and Tierney played the full 90mins this afternoon against Prague. Now listen, I really want the kid but there is surely no way on the Lords earth that Celtic are going to risk a (25million) deal -if that’s what we are led to believe as that is some major cash for the Scottish League! Could be wrong but what do we all reckon?

ST as ed02 has explained we can talk to his agent without clubs permission, just not the player himself, so I presume we can not only sound out interest but also place an offer of a contract for his agent to show him.

I just feel that with all the noises coming from Everton atm about high wages getting thrown at people last 2 years, that the reported 85k - 140k is a bit off the mark. Why try to correct the wrongs then throw so much at a player, just sets the standards then for any one else we go for.
