The Mirror stating Rooney being forced out by the club;

Seems a bit harsh as the lad was our leading goal scorer last year.

I don't think he's being forced out I think he's been told the situation regarding wether he starts games next season, or even if Silva sees him in his plans. Yes he was our leading goalscorer but I think if we could get Maddison he will be an upgrade on Rooney and we've still got Sig to come back to play the number 10 role.

We weren't happy when Rooney walked out of the club in his prime. He got his wish to come back but it hasn't quite worked.
So thanks very much Wayne, but you chose to walk away all those years ago and maybe this time its the clubs choice that you are no longer up to what is required.

It would be dangerous to bring in new management and let a player dictate what happens.

I agree he isn’t what we need any more and should go for a last pay cheque, but will people ever stop banging on about him “walking out” on us? He left for one of the biggest clubs in the world to work under and learn from one of if not THE world’s most successful club manager. He won countless club trophies and became captain and all time leading goal scorer both for them and his country. Not to mention the fact we were desperate for the money. On top of that it was 14 years ago. People harp on about players like Le Tissier and Shearer making mistakes by playing for their heart and not their careers, yet we still chastise Rooney who did just that as though he got us pregnant with quadruplets and ran off with the midwife while we were in labour.

Move on and look forward.

Windsor - I am not having a go at him re ‘walking out’ and yes he did win lots of trophies / medals etc. Could he have done that at Everton? Who knows. But my point is that he is apparently unhappy re being ‘forced out’ when reality is he just isn’t what we need any more. Biggest club in world etc or not - he chose to go and there was little we could do about it. This time boot is on the other foot so as I said, thanks Wayne and goodbye.

We didn’t have the money to put any quality around him, let alone the amount of quality it would have taken to achieve what he did, so he made the right choice for his career.

If he genuinely does feel aggrieved about being told he won’t be a starter then I completely agree with you.

We could do a lot of good with the massively wages he’s on.
