now we all know twitter is nothing to go by, but a lot of portugese and Italian journos now claiming fonseca (pardon spelling) in pole position to land the job, gamble blues? I mean if this goes balls up we really are in trouble if he can't adapt to management over here.

that's the million dollar question do we gamble or play safe I would play safe which kills me to say as I hate that bung taking joke of a man.

{Ed025's Note - hate is a strong word BLUEY, but i must admit that i dislike him intensely mate..

Tbh i would rather have Sam, we need a proven manager in this situation, as u say, Fonseca is a total gamble.

I disagree the gamble would be allardyce he leaves clubs in tatters.
Fonseca is young and hungry the way moyes and Howard once were.

{Ed025's Note - i have to admit that i know very little about fonseca scoundrel, but for me if allardyce wants a longer term appointment and is holding us to ransom then i would go for fonseca all day mate..

Fonseca all day long for me - we've got time for one last roll of the dice. Alladyce will still be around in March if it all goes wrong! I'd rather have Fonseca's draw bringing players in in January than Big Sham.

I'd be very happy with this as I put a bet on at 20/ 1 on fonseca. I'll be able to buy myself that new pair of shoes.

{Ed025's Note - and if sam gets it i will be able to buy myself a gallon of petrol and a box of matches gibbo.. :)

I am still baffled why we put Ebrell alongside Unsworth instead of Joe Royle, may not have made that much of a difference but Royle for me was a better option, Ebrell, Ferguson and Ebrell look like the three stooges on that bench.

I was hoping for Villa Boas who has at least got premier league experiance, could even say Eddie Howe but have already found out being a Blue is not enough to whip this squad into place.

Have a feeling it will be big Sam.

{Ed025's Note - i have said before that where i believe the problems we are having stem from is the "jobs for the boys" culture at the club baz, i would personally kick the lot of them to the kerb and start afresh without all the hangers on who just because they are ex-blues think the club owes them a living, they have had their time and i hope the new guy brings in his own new staff mate..

I honestly know nothing about him. ED002 will be the man to ask.

{Ed002's Note - he would be a good choice but Shakhtar Donetsk won’t want him to go and it would take lot as he has been at the highest level in terms of European competition and would need to give that up.}

the problem stems from buying and playing, only one. of three very similar forwards who are actually midfielders. first koeman did and now unsy is. klassen rooney and gylfi. why first ron now david is giving the nod to sig is beyond me he is not earning the start from match play that's for sure. would love to know what he is doing in training to warrant being played cause as far as i can see he is a luxury player we don't need. we do need youth and young legs in the middle. same for morgan when gana was playing cdm without him he was the best in the prem since he's been playing with him he is the worst. solution stop playing them together neither koeman and unsy have done this. its the same at the back how can a premier league squad not have a back up LB, and after the first time we played martina in the LB position why was he again picked by both koeman and unsy to play there again, we must have a 16 year old who can play left back better than him he is not an option. i wonder if the problem is unsy not taking the best players from the secondary squad and forgeting fringe squad players like holgate who can defend when others being picked clearly can't. all that being said i don't believe it can get much worse, the last ten games we have been terrible and we are barely in the relegation zone with jan on the horizon and seamus yannick nearly ready the next ten games will be better imo so no need to panic me thinks.

Ed002 - after Koeman was dismissed, I recall you suggesting that Hoddle would be a good choice for manager/ head-coach at Everton.
Firstly, am I recalling that correctly?
Secondly, if so, do you still take that view and could that appointment really work given Everton’s present situation and he’s been out of Premier League management for a while and he might bring some “historical baggage or controversy” with him?

{Ed002's Note - Hoddle is an excellent coach, a nice guy and a strong character.}

Ed025 - so you’d get rid of every former Everton player currently on the staff? You’d bin Unsworth, Ebbrell, Ferguson, Royle, the U23 and Academy coaches (Jeffers, etc. ) , the club ambassadors (Snodin, Stuart, etc. ) ? Do you think they’re ALL undeserving of a role with the club and it’s just a blatant case of “jobs for the boys”?
Food for thought: the three managers who won trophies for Everton during the past 50 years - Catterick, Kendall and Royle - were all former Everton players.

{Ed025's Note - i would keep unsy as he has found his niche with the U23,s bobby, the rest can go for me, catterick, kendall and royle were a different ilk to what is at the club at the moment, joe can have an ambassadorial role i suppose but none of the others near the fist team squad, they are all very comfortable in fact too much so and we need a new beginning, thats just my view of course mate and i dont expect a lot to agree, but there is "something rotten in the city of denmark" as they say and its infected this club to the point where the whole set up needs ripping up and starting again..

Ed002 - thanks for your reply. That being the case, why isn’t Hoddle in the running for the Everton - or any other Premier League club’s - managerial position these days?

{Ed002's Note - I wish knew the answer. I will ask him next time I run in to him, but I don’t see him often. I agree that he doesn’t seem to get considered as much as he should.}

I actually think you may be onto something with that speech Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - im just searching for a reason why a lot of experienced international players cant seem to play football i suppose grumpy..

It's a very refreshing angle Ed025 and certainly one that I had not considered, How much, or even if, It would set us back as a club is maybe something we will never know.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know if it would work grumpy but up to now nothing else has, it wont happen of course but something is not right at our club mate..

Two people who know all about Everton and speak their minds is Peter Reid and Neville Southall, neither have anything in an Everton role, instead we have second rate yes boss men in a Ebrell, Jeffers and the like.

I agree Ed25 move Unsworth back to the U23, the rest clear out of Goodison and start afresh.

Also agree with Ed02 in regards to Glenn Hoddle.
