In the cast around for a c/ back, young, good in the air, and able to complement keane, we could do worse than bringing back shanne duffey, sold to blackburn for chicken feed, and would cost a lot more to bring him back, but has proved himself at brighton and at international level.

We are Everton not Shane Duffy.

He certainly has improved massively since leaving. Would he be an improvement to our centre backs? Personally I would say, yes, most definitely.

Your all off your head Shane Duffy is a liability who can't play foodball.

You obviously haven't watched him much lately bigduncan. He can certainly play for Ireland. Anyone complimenting Williams on how he is playing? Or any centre back at the club?

No, didn't think so.

People complain about the lack of pace at the back for us and you want to bring back Duffy? Oh my!

NBTB your name should be changed if you think Shane Duffy is good enough for us he's never going to play for anybody in. m the top 7 and nor should Ashley williams. If you want nothing but the best then you need to be hoping for abit better than Shane Duffy and Ashley williams. I'd rather play holgate CB on his own than then two in the team. I want nothing but the best myself and settling for players like Duffy an managers like alladyce is nothing but but the most relagation standard professionals your going to get.

NBTB but I'm not delusional. We need to improve the team step by step. Does anyone think the top centre backs are knocking down the door to get in?

As long as we are improving we are going in the right direction.

I understand that but he's not an improvement on what we have, he might be a brick s. house but is he going to take us to the next level no. Take it on the chin that that was a bad shout. Moshiri said we bid 60m for koullibaly, moshiri said he wants sineone, he won't want to be paying over the odds for Shane Duffy, an the next manager whoever it maybe, if he's interested in Shane Duffy then I give up with Everton. We want nothing but the best and trophies come with that, sorry for going on at you mate but your still in the moyes era and thank god your not manager haha.

bigduncan its fine. Me manager? Can't even manage myself. I just think we need to steady the ship. Duffy is improving an awful lot as of late. If he keeps it up he will attract the better clubs.

I'm big supporter of Moshiri and never gave him anything but praise since the moment he arrived. At the same time, just because Moshiri says he wants someone doesn't mean it will happen. If it does I will eat my humble pie with the biggest grin on my face. As I said if I could pick any manager in the world it would be who you said in the above post so gladly eat humble if that happens.

Look mate I'm not deluded I'm not expecting us pull off simeone I'm just saying expectations are a lot higher these days. Every players have purple patches before williams signed he had a belter euros with wale but does he play like that every game for us? We should be going for a more expierenced an better all round quality centre half I don't know say a Vincent kompany or someone with the same sort of quality. Michael Keane has got the potential to be quality an if he had someone next to him he can trust an they can trust him it will get the best out of him. Shane Duffy don't offer that in my opinion.

Fair enough bigduncan. We'll have to agree to disagree. I wouldn't rule any player out as they can develop with time. You seem to be only keen on proven talent. That's fair enough I just think that's not a viable way going forward to challenge the big boys as that way involves an obscene amount of money.

Something which the big boys have a lot more than us and also offer champions league football. We need to be smart in our in our approach and look for ways around that. Hence buying potential talent and developing them.

Hello. I’m definitely not one to be shooting down our excellent youth players but Holgate has been far from premiership quality this season, I’m even quite sure he’d admit this himself. I know he’s young and he’s learning more and more each game but I don’t believe this warrants a first team starting position. Of course my opinion and I’m not looking to argue with fella fans or getting on the players back, I’m just struggling with this one.

Holgate hasn't been helped by the constant change in position between RB and CB, plus the number of changes in personnel alongside and in front of him. We need some consistency in selection. Just pick a formation and team then stick with it rather than changing things every game. No wonder none of the new players can settle and there seems to be no particular style or plan when we change six players every game.

Ino that mate but right now we need someone who can come in and make a difference And make a big improvement on what we have. i just don't think Duffy offer s that one bit. If you ask me we need to get rid of Steve walsh what has he done since he came apart from sign lookman an gueye. WE have spent 200m+ since walsh came in and we are no better if not worse.

Fair enough bigduncan. I agree we don't seem to be getting value for the money used during the summer. The whole Walsh situation seems peculiar. I hope it can be sorted. He does seem to be someone that can do work for the club. Maybe in a different role that he is in at the moment. That's why I wouldn't like to see him go.
