ED; In your opinion, is KONE'S agent, just trying to bump up the contract offer at Sunderland, or is he intent on a move?

{Ed025's Note - its a bit of both JCW, He wants his future sorting out and whether its at sunderland or everton it does not seem to matter mate, like everything in footy these days...its all about the money..

Kone hasn't hid behind his agent (or dad) like most players. he's actually had the bollocks to come out and speak for himself. It's just a shame he's totally contradicted himself by telling sunderland fans he was staying then handing in a transfer request the next day.

He said he "wanted" to stay. Subtle difference.

My opinion is Kone was promised a contract. Why not honour that contract? Sunderland should either honour their promise and give him one or let him go. Seems a game of cat and mouse to me.

I think he'll end up at Everton. Hoping anyway. IMHO Kone is right. The promise should be honoured if not why should he stay?

NBTB. The problem is since Kone was promised the new contract we now have a new manager and a chief executive. Priorities due to our hands being tied in the transfer window thanks to the FA had shifted and Jones contract situation was not at the time important to deal with. kone has not come out of this situation looking the best at all. Good lick for the season lads.

Agreed Kone hasn't looked good in this however he was promised the new contract from what he said and if he has lost faith on promises not delivered then you can understand why he's not happy.

Agreed Southern Toffee.

Mr Mackem who said to give every player what he wants? Certainly not me, your the only one I seen say that. He was promised a new contract by the club. So your opinion is clubs should be able to give and break promises as much as they like? Don't think that would benefit any club or player.

It's as simple as this for me they promised him a new contract. So give him one. He's well worth giving one to. He deserves it even without the promise. Did he not do his bit last season? This thing of him holding the club to ransom is bull. He shouldn't of been promised a contract if he wasn't going to be given one, simple as.

Change of manager, chief executive doesn't matter. He was promised that when he signed and no doubt had an impact on him signing in the first place.

No need to bring manager into it Mr Mackem. Not sure what point your trying to make with that one.

My take on this is he signed a 3 year deal in January on reported 40000 per week which he was happy to sign now he might of been promised a new contract by big Sam but they only have his word for that and it looks like he is using this to force a move believing by blaming the club the fans will understand what he doesn't understand is English fans are not stupid now don't get me wrong I want him to sign but he has gone about it all wrong now let's smash spurs.
