Williams yesterday, Fonte today, I would hope that we would go for one or the other but not both as at 32 neither is a long term option. My personal choice out of the 2 would be Williams 'cause of his leadership qualities but I think we also need a centre half who is commanding in the air to stop all the hopeful punts into the box turning into goals cause every time there is a cross or free kick into our box I think here's another goal.

Fonte was very vocal during Portugals Euro run. He was clearly there to boss the back 4 and that included Pepe who defended exceptionally himself. Based on your reasons above I would say Fonte every time. He a) has won something recently b) played for the manager previously in a team that outperformed both Swansea and Everton as s whole team and defensively.
He's played at a higher standard both internationally and domestically than Williams throughout his entire career.
Personally I like Williams but the Bristish player bias that runs through all of us has to stop. It's why the national sides do nothing, we applaud mediocracy, when most successful sporting countries applaud nothing but victory.

Agree s1878 we are really poor at defending Crosse's from out wide or from set pieces every time a ball is launched into our box we just anticipate are opponents are going to score so I would like to see us get fonte over Williams because he is stronger in the air but the local newspaper in southampton say that they are preparing to offer him a new contract also sun is reporting that west ham r in for gueye from villa as well as us.

West are always linked to player we are, can't think for themselves.

The problem with our national sides is their Brithish bias?
I don't think they have much choice Svenny!

No the fans and press have a British bias S1878, this gives the general impression that they are better than they are. For example Ali was praised more than Payet but Payet is double the player. Kane gets more positive press than Aguero.
Williams plays for a bang average team that has achieved bang average results. From memory it was Wales who conceded to a cross with Williams in the side compared to Portugal with Fonte.
I'm just pointing out that I'd take the Euro winner who plays for a side who slightly over achieve each year than the Welsh guy who plays for a club treading water.

I'd sign them both or one of them and the Dutch left footer. Can't remember if it's the anderlecht guy or Martins Indi.
