. various sources claiming the agent of Pelle (Soton) has confirmed he is in talks with us n Stoke City n Juve sniffing around. we will see a lot of this over the next few weeks. Soton players linked with us. a pinch of salt may be necessary.

I hope this story is false. 31 years 23 goals over 2 seasons I'm not sure he is what we require. If we have big bucks let's raise our ambition a tad.

Agree with the last part. Going to see every single Southampton player linked over the next few weeks. Don't believe anything until they're holding the kit. Agree with Tallaght that he's probably not the man for us, either. Good player, but a bit old.

If we lose lukaku soon as expected, we have no cover in that position other than a Swiss u21, we'll be held to ransom in any future negotiations for a new striker. Pelle would give us experienced cover in that position and at a reasonable fee.

{Ed002's Note - Putting aside the fact that nobody will be holding Everton to ransom over anything, Pelle is of interest to Lazio, Stoke and AC Milan who will push for a deal. Are Everton stupid enough to get involved? It really doesn't bode well for the future if he is seen as a Lukaku replacement I am afraid.}

I wouldn't be against Pele coming as I do quite rate him as a player, but it would all be depending on price. 3-4m wouldn't be a bad bit of business for a player with prem experience in a position we are lacking. Any more than that and I would say look at other targets.

He wouldn't be a replacement for lukaku but he would give us cover in a position we are short on niasse and kone are not good enough and lukaku is going.
