ed do you think barkley will leave within the next 2 years or so?, I know him personally actually, my sister used to baby sit him and I see him in the park on a regular basis, I've played football with him and I live around the corner from him, not saying i'm in the know but i'm being honest and he strikes me as a loyal lad who just loves his club and isn't in it for the money like shrek was, he will be special and it is vital we keep him, him and wilshere have got to be the best english talents in the prem at the moment

Mike-Ox Long {Ed025's Note - im not sure ox, obviously i would like to think so, but you never know what happens...if we were to be unsuccessful over the next couple of years, im sure his advisors would be pushing for him to move on..

Sorry to be a doom monger Ed and Ox but if he turns out like we all expect him too then he will be gone in a flash, money talks and you couldn't blame the lad if he did go to better himself. I would be off in a blink of the eye if someone doubled or trebled my wages.

The only way we could keep him (if he does turn out a beauty) is for a billionaire to buy us, sorry for the bluntness but deep down we all know we don't have a prayer of keeping him or any other wonderkid we bring through, maybe if the rich guys on our board gave instead of taking then we could keep our stars.

I sound a bit like Mike there, must be marriage kills the happiness

Degsy is probably correct on this. His advisors are going to try to get him to move on. It’s how they make their money. Let’s hope he finds an agent that has his clients best interests at heart not his own. If I loved a club and was happy there I would stay there unless there was a compelling event that forced me to move and I am not talking money. IMO Football is no longer a passion just a profession for most players. If they just happen to be good at their jobs they can command ridiculous wages and if they are not that bothered about the game would be quite happy to sit on a bench to collect their cash.
Just look at all the English talent that is bought by a so called “top clubs” that play in the champions league only to sit on the bench and ruin the best part of their career for a bit of cash. Does the player actually benefit from the move probably not. Unless of course he is not actually bothered about playing, then it makes great financial sense.
It’s not about the money it’s about the greed. Greedy owners, greedy agents and unfortunately, greedy players.
You never know Barclay may turn out to be the exception to the rule a player that bucks the trend and doesn't just jump on the gravy train at the first opportunity.

Baines didn't either, SA90.

Look Ross is good let's enjoy him while we can, let his feet have defenders in a trance, let's watch him meg time an time again. if he moves on to better himself wish him all the best, if he sticks knife in then we can scorn him

Third poster spot on, let's enjoy the lad whilst we have him, none of us are stupid and we all know deep down that 99.9999% of players are in it mainly for the money, obviously Baines is in the small minority and the guy is a legend to us all. If Ross becomes an outstanding talent then he will be off and none of us should blame the lad for anything, just enjoy what we have

It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all

I'd be inclined to agree with Degsy and SA90 on this one. Nowadays it is the greedy agents who seem to make the decisions and there are plenty of English prospects out there who have paid the price for their agents advised move to the "big time."

However, that said I only see what most of us do with Ross, a great talented youngster, that the vultures will be circling around very shortly. I truly hope Ox is right in his view of the lad, in which case now is the time to offer him a long term big contract, building the team for the future to ensure we are successful in the years ahead with Ross at the heart of it.

I agree Baines is a good example of the exception let's hope more of our young talent follow it.

I think as a football club we have lived and learnt especially with the Rooney saga. The lad in many ways can be likened to Rooney but don't forget it was Rooney and his "advisors" that wanted to see our books, which is unacceptable. Ross will be a legend for us no doubt but my gut tells me he's want to achieve something with everton.

8.) 18 Sep 2013
Ross will never leave Uncle Bill & Rob after we win Premier 2 years from now . Once A Blue . Never A Red

9.) 18 Sep 2013
I think he will stay with us for a few seasons yet, he's still developing whereas Rooney was virtually the finished article by 18. You can see he's still raw due to missing a year or more experience with his injury.

If he fulfils his potential and turns into the player we think he could be, then someone will be breaking Bales world record fee to get him. So I agree with the guys saying let's enjoy him while we have him and if he goes in a few seasons then he'll likely clear our total in debt in the process- so happy days all round!
