If by some miracle we stay up this season then we need sorting within weeks.

Dyche has to go, DoF has to go, ownership needs resolving and players who will be sold should be gone ASAP.

We need a modern coach, maybe someone like Potter (Graham or Harry) would be good.
If 777 aren't approved then we need someone with endless pockets to pay the debt, at this point I wouldn't care if it was Kim Jong Un.
If we have to sell Onana/ Braithwaite etc then get it done early so hopefully replacements can be recruited before deadline day panic.

NSNO UTFT.

{Ed025's Note - sounds good WT, unless the Premier league Everton haters give us a transfer embargo mate..

How I wish we could get promoted to the EPFL (English Premier Flagship League) and be untouchable.

07 Apr 2024 15:51:57
We’re flirting with relegation and potentially administration.

We’ve got no money.

Hiring and firing managers has helped us get into the mess we’re in.

Very little chance Dyche is sacked.

Why would you sack Thelwell? He’s worked miracles with the constraints he’s had forced upon him - moved a load of players on and made some fairly decent additions.

Again we have no money and with our psr issues we can’t spend freely in transfer window.

I think we need to get our head around the fact that even if we are taken over there is no quick fix to the mess we’re in and it’s going to be a long road to recovery.

Not a classic, but I thought the boys showed a lot of heart. Three points was the only thing that mattered. Officials gave Burnley a chance with the usual refusal to give penalties. Now let's see how hard the powers that be want to screw us on Monday.

I'm thinking 3 points JB. Mitigation will drop us down. Can't believe Luton won.

06 Apr 2024 18:16:05
3 points all that matters stay up and then go again, Branthwaite was great today.

06 Apr 2024 18:30:14
Luton and Forest are our danger teams. We need to get a decent gap between us as we could well yet get more points deducted. My nerves are shot at this season. I thought retirement would be a stroll in the park.

{Ed025's Note - so did i Nick..

07 Apr 2024 07:38:25
No doubt we'll get enough of a deduction to keep us right in the relegation fight.

07 Apr 2024 22:11:18
Retirement is easy. Football is just a game. COYB.

06 Apr 2024 17:09:09
At this stage of the battle you are just happy to get the 3 points in the bag (though Burnley were unlucky) . But we are still so slow in moving the ball and Doucoure is falling short at the moment. Pemier league smiles on us and things looking up with Brentford dragged into the mire but a further 4 point deduction and we are in for a nerve-racking last few games. No one would put money on us going to Arsenal at the close if we need to grab a point there. Thankfully our goal difference better than the rest.

Awful game today but hey 3 points that's what matters.

Glad for the win of course and happy for DCL but the game management is woeful. Start dominating and then they go to 10 men. Ideal time to kill the game and make a few changes especially Young on the right. He is the weak link by that point when DCL and Duke are making the high press but nothing on the right giving Burnley an out ball. Eventually makes the changes but sets us up to defend the 1-0. Ok Burnley didn't hit the target but they got a lot more possession and balls into the box than was comfortable. Totally unnecessary and another chance to build the confidence with a convincing win overlooked. Hard to watch.

Agree with that. Especially the hard to watch.

05 Apr 2024 13:43:11
Everton 42 goals conceded and only 31 scored.
Brentford 55 conceded and 42 scored.
Forest 53 conceded and 39 scored.
Luton 64 conceded and 43 scored.

Although our defence has been diabolical of late. Based on the overall season, it is the only reason we are still in with a shout of staying in this league. It is no secret that our issue lies in scoring goals.

Brentford have their 2 best players back now and have the easiest run in of all the threatened teams. You would expect them to stay up.

That leaves us with Luton and Forest to battle with. Imo, both of those groups have more fight and desire than us to compete in games of football.

We need to focus on what we have been good at this season and that is to protect our goal but then setup in a way that we can get bodies around the striker to stop teams from doubling, sometimes tripling up on him, safe in the knowledge they have f all else to be concerned with. It is not as though we have a marauding and ball playing no.10 that is going to cut through the defence or lace one in the top corner from 25 yards.

It is obvious and has been for some time that we are dreadful on the flanks, our wingers can't even beat a man and their ability to cross a ball is non-existent so why play them at all. McNeil has been absolutely shocking and is more 1 footed than Antonio Valencia and Harrison is tasked with filling the gaping hole in our right back position before he even thinks about attacking. Harrison's numbers for Leeds were decent. He was getting around 8 goals and 8 assists for them but they had the astounding intelligence to actually play him in his preferred position on the left.

James Garner is the closest thing we have to a no.10. Yes, it was in the Championship but he played there for Forest and after all, it was enough of a reason for us to buy him in the first place. He has decent football intelligence, he can thread a pass and strike a ball well enough. Cast your minds back to his goal against Villa in the cup which is one of the only times I have seen him play further forward.

We are without a win in 12, another fantastic record we have secured in the PL. If we don't try something different at this point, we are gone.

5-3-2

Pickford

Anyone
Godfrey (cannot play RB - use his pace)
Tark
Jared
Mykolenko

Gana (have him sat deepest. Nobody wins the ball back better than he does)

Onana (Allow him to use his athletic and physical ability and drive us further up the pitch. Most slate him but look how he bossed the midfield against England when he was given licence to get about) .

Garner (Get him on the ball with the 2 lads ahead of him doing what they do best, stretching defenders, running in behind)

DCL

Beto (Clearly not technical but his strength is making runs off the shoulder and getting fed in behind facing goal. Look at his time Udinese and then even his goals for us against Doncaster and Newcastle.

He will not play two up top. The guy thinks he is a technical wizard but just look at who his coaches are.

05 Apr 2024 22:33:51
BN
Really valid points bro.

05 Apr 2024 22:38:02
BN… I think u should be manager for the run in, I love what u say…
If only u had 10 million to pay out SD and his team… otherwise I think we all know the negative tactics we have to watch to take us down!
Player by player we are so much better than bottom 6 but tactically and desire wise we bottom of the bunch except SU.

06 Apr 2024 08:20:03
It is bizarre to me Dycheflysouth as that is all he ever did at Burnley with the likes of Vokes, Barnes and Wood or Rodriguez. We need to score goals urgently so why he doesn't put another lad in the mixer to increase our chances and give the opposition something to worry about is beyond me.

You are spot on Honcho, I think even desire wise Sheffield seem to have more fight than us mate. How far we have fallen is a travesty.

06 Apr 2024 13:52:29
The only stat I’ll be caring about today is that we score more goals than Burnley!

04 Apr 2024 09:37:15
You make some very valid points JB, as you say and I totally agree if Dyche keeps us up then it's job done, we need to stay up and hopefully new owners will be on board shortly and we go again,3 points on Sat would be massive so bring it on,

Well let's hope between now and Saturday, they spend as much time on passing and defensive play, as SD spends rehearsing his post match interview. I don't see 3 points but want them badly.

05 Apr 2024 00:43:09
GB, you should be out enjoying yourself at your age. Definitely three points on Saturday.

02 Apr 2024 22:14:21
Before everyone gets too excited, this was not in anyway Newcastle's strongest team. Without the pen I doubt we would have scored.
Formation, tactics and team selection were wrong again. If he doesn't play two strikers and Gomes in the middle at home to Burnley then he's learnt nothing.

Agree11 Disagree0

03 Apr 2024 07:48:26
Regardless of the strength of that Newcastle team, we gained a point in a game that for atleast 70 minutes we looked like we’d come away with nothing.

If fans can’t get excited about that then what’s the point?

03 Apr 2024 09:02:18
Get excited? We got a pen from a dopey tackle from one of their players when the ball was just punted into the box.
This was another very poor display from another poor side. Some of this guys selections are baffling, and he’s still persisting with the same bloody formation.
Newcastle gave us a point yesterday, we hardly earned it. Still no goals from open play, no passing and moving, just big punts down the pitch. And let’s be honest here, how many of us thought Dom would miss that pen?
Excited no. Relieved yes.

03 Apr 2024 10:13:19
Everyone entitled to their opinions, but genuinely feel that whatever happens there’ll be fans who want to moan and not be happy - Twitter a prime example.

We’ve had nothing to get excited about for ages, yet last night we were staring down the barrel of another defeat yet we managed to get some luck, had var going in our favour, some positive substitutions which made a difference to the game and DCL managed to get back on the scoresheet.

Was it an amazing performance - no.

However is it worth getting excited about - absolutely.

We’ve 1 more point than we had going into the match and for a long time it looked like we’d come away with nothing.

Also feel that the bit of luck and the result may actually have a positive impact on the team and fans and help us in the run in.

If we can replicate the performance for the last 20 minutes of the game in our remaining matches then we may pick up some more points going forward.

03 Apr 2024 14:32:47
Baffling how low our expectations have got. That was crap and thanks to Pickford and a big slice of luck people think this is a good display?

03 Apr 2024 18:43:55
The SD fanbase will always make him excuses. Sean Dyre being served up week in week out. We just broke a club record and they love it!

03 Apr 2024 20:17:11
They will love it even more if he keeps us up mate.

03 Apr 2024 20:37:59
Fat chance he will GB. If we do stay up, it will be because there are three worse teams than us.

03 Apr 2024 21:54:30
Absolutely! Not so long ago you needed 40 and some years 42/ 43 points. Luckily the last few years (coinciding with our flirtations with the drop) you've needed a lot less. And that's simply facts. The bottom 3 sides in recent years have been absolutely useless. Ironic considering the noise the EPL makes about being the most competitive league in the world. We would have been relegated the last 2 seasons and unless we score 14/ 17 points in the last 8 games (hahahaha) we'd have been relegated this season too against the usual magic 40ish point line. Meaning this has bugger all to do with Dyche and everything to do with the poor level of the bottom quarter of the EPL. We need this trend to continue for another season or 2. But for the hope of a little light relief and some occasional weekend happiness, we need a new management and match day change. I'm not sure how much I've got left of this week in week out getting nothing but depression and disappointment. Glad you're loving it though GB.

04 Apr 2024 07:27:22
If we stay up with a points deduction and a poor squad, SD can say he’s achieved what was asked of him in very difficult circumstances. I don’t have low expectations, I have realistic expectations of what can be achieved with the players we have. We’ve been denied points on plenty of occasions this season, it’s ok to get one and be the worse team every now and again. Being eased at gaining a point, and being excited are not the same, but fully expected the usual doom and gloom mongers to jump on it. Plenty still needs to change and improve, for now we have to battle and stay up, that’s all. 3 points on Saturday please, and I’ll happily take them through a dodgy penalty or a deflection off someone’s rear end.

04 Apr 2024 08:23:43
3 points makes a hell of a difference doesn’t it? If we could just win 4 of the last 8 games and not get a ridiculous points deduction, I think we might just survive by the skin of our teeth (again) .

Starting to get fed up of this club and the undue stress it causes on my life.

04 Apr 2024 10:16:37
We have enough good players to play football. Not this hoofball crap we are playing now. The manager sets the tactics, the formation and the players.
It would now appear that some supporters see it as an achievement to just stay in the Premiership. Really?
We have gone twelve games without a win. Twelve. We persist with the same formation game after game and nothing changes. We play the same formation home and away why?
This blokes idea of training is to run his players hard, yet after a three week break they still look tired. And isn't it the manager's job to develop young players, this bloke just runs them down. Instead playing a forty year old who offers nothing.
Relies totally on set pieces and were not very good at them anymore. He has to go at the end of the season, regardless of what league we are in.

04 Apr 2024 11:28:38
If we win 4 of the last 8 we'd leap frog Palace, dreaming mate. I think 2 wins is enough and going to be really hard considering. we don't win games anymore. A few draws is probably more likely going to be the thing that gets us over the line.

04 Apr 2024 12:52:26
Funny that FBS mate. Think we will need at least 3 wins. Imagine Dyche will be playing for 8 draws.

04 Apr 2024 14:04:25
Given the circumstances, I do think it would be an achievement to stay up. That doesn’t mean that’s my aspiration for the future of the club. We simply don’t have the players, whether some think we do or not. Yes we could play more openly and attackingly, and we’d probably be down already if we did.

04 Apr 2024 16:55:54
See there it is again, we can’t play football because we would lose. You’ve all been brainwashed in to believing none of these players are any good. So we have to play hoofball.
Our strikers are slated as being crap when they get zero support, and are marked two on one. We make it easy for opposing defences.
But hey Dyche is doing a great job and will go on picking his favourites because there’s “Nobody” else.

05 Apr 2024 00:05:18
The players themselves have 'brainwashed' people, Woburn. Their inability to pass a ball 5 yards, their inability to take responsibility to shoot when in decent positions, their inability to find a man from a cross or a corner. The list could go on.
The manager is just as culpable with his team selections, use of subs and tactics but the players have to shoulder some of the blame as well. It's a culmination of failings by both players and management and, although the buck stops with SD, there's no doubt that they are all falling short.

05 Apr 2024 09:20:33
But who sets those tactics bp? Who organises the training they do? It’s not like Dyche has only been here half a season mate.
Nobody can convince me that these players suddenly decided that the best way of playing is to pass it back to the keeper and let him launch it down the pitch.
As a kid I remember one coach saying if it’s not in our half they can’t score. Is that Dyche’s tactic?
I have seen Onana play for his country the guy can pass a ball. Gomes can pass a ball. But these players spend more time watching it fly over their heads, if they even play that is.
Six points from a possible thirty nine, set a new record for games without a win. Yet people saying he’s doing a good job? I give up.

06 Apr 2024 01:51:35
I get where you're coming from Woburn, but I just think they are all to blame for the sh*t show that we've had to witness this year. Maybe it's a confidence thing, maybe it's the way SD sets them up, or maybe the off field problems have had more of an affect than we thought. Regardless, since xmas, we have been shocking and the rot needs to stop. I don't see too many happy with the manager and his staff tbh mate. Think some have just given up and are just going through the motions. After all, I don't even think we can afford to sack another manager in the current circumstances. Ground hog day for almost 8 years mate.

02 Apr 2024 20:54:03
What has happened to this great historic club?
Team, management and ownership not good enough!
Fans are suffering the most!
I would imagine Dyche is not the most inspirational manager we cannot afford to change so who is going to step up and rescue our club?
I'm not sure anyone left is old school Everton that understands the club fans and the city this is just not acceptable!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2024 12:40:43
Would anyone consider Peter Reid to the end of the season? He motivates. Possible short term solution. Picking up a point at a time is no good when those below us are capable of getting 3. Luton and Forest are out biggest threats.

03 Apr 2024 18:44:16
Is he still alive?

04 Apr 2024 07:28:14
Don’t think so Nick. If you were going down that route there’d be more appropriate candidate.

04 Apr 2024 14:21:21
Yeah I agree JB. I was just answering the last comment by wakka57. Other than big Joe I can't think of any.
