So Gibson is the first RK signing--what a statement of intent--more medicority--KOEMAN OUT.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - hes not even in yet mate.. :)

09 Jun 2016 23:21:28
I am hoping that is a large helping of sarcasm in that post!

I am sure that Koeman who is not our manager yet would not be allowed to have any input into who gets contracts or who we are looking at until he is officially made the manager. So the question is "who is making the decisions at Everton about who gets contracts or who gets improved contracts or who's agent is contacted with a view to purchase? Presumably whoever was doing it for Martinez. Let's hope that not too many football decisions are made before Koeman and Monchi (or similar) are officially on board.

Id be very surprised with that Mike. I just can't see contract renewals or extensions being done without some influence from the incoming manager. They are not under pressure in any way to lose a player who has contributed so little up to now. If he walked I'm sure they wouldn't be too bothered.

No, this must have some kind of input from RK. Maybe he's his kind of player. Two things that I remember from RK as a player was his free kicks and his passing range. Gibson has that same passing range that the manager may still see some value in.

spot on toffee, it would indeed be surprising if player contract renewals, extensions and in and outs would be done without any input from our incoming new Manager, there would already have been discussions at an initial level on all of these things.

He's probably on a pay as you play deal mate. Relax! . When he's actually on the pitch he's a really good player. Were you expecting Messi? .

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Jun 2016 17:19:32
gibboEFC, given that he has played very few games during his 4yrs, 51 to be precise, just how many of those have been very good performances? If you can get to double figures I'd be amazed. Neither his performances nor his injury record during that period show that he is deserving of a contract extension.

I just read a story that Lukaku could be going to PSG with Edinson Cavani possibly coming the other way. Really? I know we have money but not sure we are in the market for those sort of players hope I'm wrong.

09 Jun 2016 22:24:42
Al where u read this story don't believe it myself but wouldn't be a bad replacement though.

Did you watch Uruguay last night! There is a reason PSG are happy to let Cavani go! Would rather have straight cash and go and buy a striker!

Glad to hear Goodison is getting a majorcmake over. don't worry we are still moving but the outside is getting a refit.

Hi ed. Do you think it was koemans shout to give Gibson a new 2 year deal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it would certainly look that way john, moshiri will not get involved in footballing matters as thats not his bag so ronnie looks like the culprit.. :)

09 Jun 2016 22:21:38
Gibson must me made up if that's the case Ed. I mean he was probably thinking the worst and who could blame him, then POW! New manager comes in and straight away gives you a two year extension. How chuffed must he be feeling right now.

Maybe RK has learned the ancient mysterious art of the Mr Miagi super duper hand clap to make Gibbo well again and he's now fit to start every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes a very lucky guy for me ace..

09 Jun 2016 22:40:46
Averaging about 13 games a year he's a lottery winner.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 23:21:09
I like Gibbo. But we don't need him in my opinion. He's played just 27 games in 3 seasons, so you're talking 27 out of about 130. I hope Koeman is working some magic somehow and Gibbo is going to be a revelation in midfield next season, but I just can't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2016 00:45:36
The deal for Gibson must have a large element of pay as you play, if fit, motivated, and readey to hit the ground running, he is an asset, but it's a big if, let's hope whoever recomended this deal, knows what their doing!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 23:38:03
Not at all ed he can play but in the right set up you know that he is a very good player.

09 Jun 2016 19:51:32
Is there actually any evidence that Monchi is linked with the blues, other than he is out of a job? Ed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - nothing tangible howie but apparently he was quoted as saying he would like to go to the prem and the media have speculated that utd and everton are the front runners mate..

09 Jun 2016 22:52:53
Is he now out of a job? I thought his resignation had been refused. Apologies if I've missed any developments on this.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 16:34:33
See Gibson signed for 2 years, can only think so we get a fee for him if some 1 else is interested. Just a thought, if we're in for monchi, are we waiting to Confirm monchi and koeman together?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think thats the case RP, its just tying up loose ends i believe mate..

09 Jun 2016 16:47:47
OK Ed thanks fella.

09 Jun 2016 18:11:50
Gibson as good a midfielder we have when fit imho.

09 Jun 2016 21:05:12
When's the last time you seen Gibo have a good game? Osman is better and he carnt get a game.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 21:31:45
Ok then if you disagree don't you think we should give the younger lads a chance like we did for the last game of the season how old is Gibson.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - darron is 28 AB..

09 Jun 2016 21:49:28
When did he last string a decent run of games together? Even at £500k he hasn't proved to be value for money over the length of his 1st contract and to give him a 2yr extension make no sense at all. He should have been binned after his drink drive/ flee the scene fiasco.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i have to say..im with you cadet..

09 Jun 2016 10:40:26
Hi ed what is going on with koeman. Is he still coming. Compo been sorted conttactics sorted. So what's going on. It's unbelievable the silence. Absolute joke.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - just red tape i believe john, i think you will find that it will be sorted very soon mate and ronnie will be steering the good ship everton next season..

09 Jun 2016 20:06:43
Just need to show a little more patience, get these i's dotted and t's crossed.
The Mourinho circus dragged on a few days and there was no club involved there just shows these things take a little time.

09 Jun 2016 15:22:27
Darron Gibson has signed a contract extension until 2018. It's just been announced on the official Everton website.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

09 Jun 2016 15:37:39
Saw it to but not sure why? his return of games is so poor, I would have let him go.
Talented but all ifs and buts for me, and no real return for the last few seasons.

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 15:48:27
Got to be honest I'm not seeing the logic in this. Gibson is a good player when he is fit unfortunatley that isn't very often
he is going to be taking up a place in the 25 man squad that we can resigter and I think it was Sid that posted the situation regarding the available squad places they are certainly at a premium unless we sell and don't think Gibson is worth one of those places.

Agree2 Disagree3

09 Jun 2016 15:49:59
I actually think Gibson is one of our best players when playing such a shame he is always injured, if you take away last season when ever he played we played well unlike our other midfielders he keeps the ball moving forward, I believe if we can get him on the pitch for 6 months of season then it's great to give him a deal otherwise it's throwing 40-50k a week down the drain would also like hibbert go into a defensive coach roll,

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 15:56:57
Very surprised at this to be honest. I'm surprised they are renewing any contracts until the manager has decided who he wants and doesn't want. Plus if Monchi is coming his say so too. Not sure Gibson really offers a lot any more.

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Jun 2016 15:59:06
I'm not opposed to Gibson being kept (he's the best passer in our squad in my humble opinion) , but I do wonder who at the club made the decision to offer the contract extension - especially as it has been offered before the new management team (Koeman? Monchi? ) has been signed up.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 16:06:03
Hey

. I suspect there may be 'built in'factors within this contract to teflect his lack of hours on the pitch. not so much paid as you play but ya get the idea.

Mart.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 17:55:00
IMO Barry has been our most influential player and has made us tick and I think Gibson is the closest thing we have got to fill that void seamlessly if Barry is injured/ suspended. Mccarthy and Besic can't be trusted there and the money available is going to be better spent elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 10:41:40
Hey

. various sources claiming the agent of Pelle (Soton) has confirmed he is in talks with us n Stoke City n Juve sniffing around. we will see a lot of this over the next few weeks. Soton players linked with us. a pinch of salt may be necessary.

Mart.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

09 Jun 2016 12:06:55
I hope this story is false. 31 years 23 goals over 2 seasons I'm not sure he is what we require. If we have big bucks let's raise our ambition a tad.

Agree8 Disagree1

09 Jun 2016 12:29:15
And we will probably be quoted over the odds for him.

I would like a move for Janssen hoping we swoop in but whatever happens will give the team my backing and support as always!

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Jun 2016 12:37:39
Agree with the last part. Going to see every single Southampton player linked over the next few weeks. Don't believe anything until they're holding the kit. Agree with Tallaght that he's probably not the man for us, either. Good player, but a bit old.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 13:35:04
Wouldn't mind if we were linked with Forster.

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Jun 2016 14:58:10
If we lose lukaku soon as expected, we have no cover in that position other than a Swiss u21, we'll be held to ransom in any future negotiations for a new striker. Pelle would give us experienced cover in that position and at a reasonable fee.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Putting aside the fact that nobody will be holding Everton to ransom over anything, Pelle is of interest to Lazio, Stoke and AC Milan who will push for a deal. Are Everton stupid enough to get involved? It really doesn't bode well for the future if he is seen as a Lukaku replacement I am afraid.}

09 Jun 2016 15:27:15
Hey

. don't for 1 second think Pelle is the answer if Lukaku goes. doesn't do it for me . just repeating rumours which will predominantly feature Soton players

09 Jun 2016 17:30:06
I wouldn't be against Pele coming as I do quite rate him as a player, but it would all be depending on price. 3-4m wouldn't be a bad bit of business for a player with prem experience in a position we are lacking. Any more than that and I would say look at other targets.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Jun 2016 17:33:01
He wouldn't be a replacement for lukaku but he would give us cover in a position we are short on niasse and kone are not good enough and lukaku is going.

09 Jun 2016 18:46:17
Would rather have Shane Long than Pelle.

Media are bricking themselves of Everton, no more a selling club, no more darlings getting our players on the cheap, god help them when we start buying big and sort the new ground out, wonder who will be the next whipping boys for the media.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 08:38:09
Does anybody know when koeman wil be at goodison 1 min he's on holiday the next he's due at efc on wednesday an guess what nothing teams already buying big will we miss out yet again or i'm i wrong in sayin its best to buy early so team can gel.

Elo ed, do you think niasse will be involve in ronalds plans? He seems more like marcus bent than someone who mourinho wanted to sign.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i really dont know on niasse bigD, reports from the training ground had him down as a lemon but im sure if hes not up to scratch ronnie will do what he has to mate..

09 Jun 2016 07:47:18
You never know he could turn out to be the next drogba or the next beattie ha Ronald seems to get the best out of all his players to be fair.

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Jun 2016 13:38:33
Bigduncan, if Ronald can get the best out of Naise, Kone or Mcgeady he gets my vote as the next missiah.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 14:46:19
I don't think niasse will cut it in the prem imo. I know he hasn't had much game time to prove but you tend to get a feeling when you see a player that looks a bit well shite lol. he was branded in the Russian league as the lucky man. which he scrambled and fumbled through defenders most of the time to get his goal. wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him in a everton shirt again and ends up back in the Russian league next season. 👍imo of course.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 15:45:25
It might be worth our while to loan niasse to a bottom half side. He can't be that poor it must be a confidence thing. He got arrested this has all the traits of an unsetteled signing. Can he be as poor as he has for us?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Loans don't work like that I am afraid. You cannot simply loan a player to another "bottom half side".}
