Mirror reporting Martinez is planning to raid former club Wigan for Mcmanaman, McCarthy and Alcaraz with the trio likely to cost £30m. Just goes to show they don't actually have a clue about anything. (Alcaraz is free) and I don't see the other 2 costing much more than £15m. {Ed025's Note - i would say a lot less..

Believable10 Unbelievable10

I'd say a lot less as well Ed but it's Dave Whelan we'd be dealing with.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whelan rates McCarthy at £15m and McManaman a bit less so it could be hope we don't get them at that price wouldn't pay more than £8-10m for McCarthy and £5m for McManaman.

Agree0 Disagree0

In other news Naismith is subject of a 75m pound bid from Barcelona

Agree0 Disagree0

Mcmanaman is worth £1. 5 Million and McCarthy maybe worth about £10 Million. Everton are also after Aiden McGeady and Victor Moses so if Martinez is going to pay £30 mil for those 3, forget about Moses, McGeady, and Mertens, Toivonen, or Strootman from PSV.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mcmanaman and Mccarthy will be cheaper because Whelan wants to sort it out quickly. So I'm predicting a fee of 10m for the both of them combined at the most. And yes Alcaraz is free

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd guess roughly £10m, give or take £2m, for McCarthy - and no more than £5m for McManaman as he's only really had a break onto the scene cameo of 3-ish months; he hasn't really been a consistent performer for years has he.

Going by my guessings, I'd say £15m will get both, with Alcaraz on a free.

Agree0 Disagree0

If they are high earners then they will go relatively cheap, Wigan won't want to pay premier league wages in the championship. I'd expect Whelan to do his business as early as possible, it's a long season ahead for Wigan in europe and in the second tier. There are better players out there than McCarthy, Fer for a start (if he hasn't signed for the fat spanish waiter). I'd take McManaman but only if it's no more than 3m, possibly with add ons.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah to Victor Moses. The rest of Wigan Atheletics team can do one, they ain't good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not what they are worth it's market value at mcmanaman is going to go for more then 1.5m you can't get a championship player for less than that these days

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we want to buy failures. We should be buying winners. As a contributor suggested earlier 'they are not good enough'

England under 19s captained by a liverpool player.
England under 21s captained by a liverpool player
England senior squad captained by a liverpool player.
Thats why England are so sh*t. GarstonBlue

Believable19 Unbelievable7

I can't tell a lie Garston lad, they are indeed shxt. (Wavertree Blue)

Agree0 Disagree0

Aren't the U19s captained by Lundstram? Or is that the U20s?

Agree0 Disagree0

When the teams are managed by Noel Blake, Stuart Pearce and Roy bloody Hodgson, you know the country has problems. England are also rans and always will be.

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

Love it, proves again its who you play for not how good you are that you get into the England squad. All of them are overrated as well or past it. Half of that under 21 squad either was in the championship or couldn't warm the bench at the club they was at. Shocking future for England IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2013 18:13:08
sorry bout my sarcasm lads, You can't say things like that against that lot, because they've won 5 european cups, And they can do no wrong, And they have a divine right to have they're players as england captains at all levels. But its not they're fault that the teams got beat, no sir, it was that red devil Sir alex. Well I did apologise for my sarcasm. Hope all the blues enjoy the new season. kev

Agree0 Disagree0

That is the most pathetic put down of Liverpool I've ever read. England are sh*te because they're light years behind Spain, Germany, Holland etc in terms of youth development.

I'm no Liverpool fan, but hasn't their academy just been voted the 5th best in Europe and therefore the best in England? Having Liverpool players as captains of England for their varying age groups just depresses me more. It doesn't undermine them in the least!

Victor Moses from Chelsea I think this could have legs on it source daily mail {Ed025's Note - i like the guy..suit us fine..

Believable10 Unbelievable6

Any truth Ed? {Ed025's Note - i dont know to be honest...but would be great IMO..

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have him too, but not for the price they're quoting (£10m). Good young player, versatile, tricky, pacey customer can play anywhere across the front. Maybe Roberto can sort out a loan deal for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

10m is what they paid for him so we won't get him any cheaper.

Agree0 Disagree0

They paid £9m and probably don't want him so maybe we could get him for £6m-7m?

Agree0 Disagree0

Love to get him on a loan with a view for a permanent move.

A new number 9 (Negredo would do nicely), Mirallas in the hole behind Negredo, Pienaar on one side and Moses on the other.

Sounds good to me

Agree0 Disagree0

10 million is not much anymore be shocked if he went for less made me laugh the other day benteke with 40 million price tag don't make me laugh he is a good player but if he has a price tag of that amount then felleni is worth 100million messi 1 billion if someone offered 20 million for benteke they would sell someone said on here the other day sell gueye for 4 or 5 million based on what

Mirrallas said that he wants to move to spain oh great

Believable11 Unbelievable16

Watched the interview on tv and he pretty much had the words put into his mouth. He said he would like to play there at some stage but is happy at Everton, tv reported it as saying he and Fellaini want to leave.
RickTee

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that was an interview done just as the season ended and he was asked about his hope. ie one day i'd like too play in spain. think he also said he would like to go back to his old belgium club too 'one day'

Agree0 Disagree0

Just seen the interview and he had the words put into his mouth ther. Gary Cotterill interviewed him

Agree0 Disagree0

He also said he was pleased that Matinez is the new manager as he is Spanish, as mirrallas Spanish is better than his English you can't overplay just how important something like that is, and its more likely they will both share the same football philosophy.

Agree0 Disagree0

The interviewer was trying to put words in his mouth. The minute he mentioned that his Spanish was better than his English he jumped all over it, trying to get him to say he wants to go to play in Spain.
If we can keep this lad fit he will become a very important player for us next season, his best is yet to come

Agree0 Disagree0

Saw the interview, he was like a rabbit in head lights, getting words put into his mouth but hey when they want to go let them go.

Heard a rumour that Martinez is interested in Joel Robles from Athletico Madrid after he impressed the spaniard on loan at Wigan last season, and is currently understudy to Curtious (whether he increases his loan from chelsea ) and Sergio Asenjo, He would be available for around 2-4mill. Would be a good signing if you ask me. GarstonBlue

Hardly, if you look at the full quotes. He said, "I like playing in the premier league, it's the best league. I like playing for Everton. It's a new coach Martinez. welcome to Everton. Martinez is a good trainer, for me it’s very good as I speak Spanish and my Spanish is better than my English. "

It's normal after the first year to look for a bigger better contract, if the player is a hit in the first season.
Most clubs expect it these days. let's be honest we need to keep him happy.

Possible Transfer Targets:
Nathan Redmond 3m?
Leroy Fer 7-8m?
McManaman 2m?
McCarthy 5-8m?
Chalobah 3m?
Tom Ince 4m?
McGeady 3-4m?
Alcaraz 1m?

Believable9 Unbelievable12

I really hope not. We're supposed to be improving!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't be happy about most of them but. Alcaraz would be on a free and McManaman would cost about 50m considering how deluded Whelan is.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many midfielders do you think we need for goodness sake.
RickTee

Agree0 Disagree0

If your taking the time to post at least give it a decent shot.

Alcaraz is on a free (contract expires 1st July) and 7-11 million for McCarthy and McManaman is just silly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leroy Fer and that is it

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Not too sure about Vossen, but De Bruyne would be incredible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Though KDB is very very good I'd rather we spent 3m on Honda than 15m on him

Danny Simpson will be the first signing, free an Martinez wanted him in jan. others that will come in fer, Joel Robles, McCarthy, mcmannaman and Alcaraz or a young foreign player. Heitinga and gueye going making 7mill. If Fellaini goes better quality players will sign

Believable1 Unbelievable12

I know that's a lie as Matinez would not be going after players that he wanted for Wigan for us, it's just made up rubbish as normal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Simpson is terrible the rest are decent/good

Fer-Yes
Joel Robles-Don't Know

Saw Martinez on sky showing off the new Wigan boys club. Dave whelan was there telling everyone what he's done for the town of Wigan. I'm just wondering are we paying Martinez while he's doing his Wigan bits?

Eric dysfunctional

Believable1 Unbelievable11

We're mugs if we are considering he doesn't actually start working for us until July 1st

Agree0 Disagree0

No, contract starts on July 1st when Moyes contract ends, at this minute Moyes is still our manager and Martinez is still Wigan manager

Duffy

Agree0 Disagree0

What he's doing is honouring commitments he probably made months ago. In my view this is to his great credit, I would be a bit wary of someone who just forgot about a place that he'd become a big part of over several years.
I think this is one of the reasons Bill K chose him. A sense of loyalty & commitment is someting ingrained in all true Evertonians.

Agree0 Disagree0

"his Wigan bits". Say that in the voice of a grumpy 79yr old and it sounds much more appropriate! On a par with "You forgot to get me Werthers" or "Is that a girl or a boy? I can never tell these days" etc. etc.

Ed this isn't a rumour as such but I've been told that Roberto is trying to sign a big named Spaniard. Again, this isn't me generating a rumour but I've heard Villa.

Can we really attract a player of that quality? Here's to hoping!

DiscoDave {Ed025's Note - would we blow the budget on 1 player though dave?..

Believable1 Unbelievable11

I've got mixed emotions though. IF wrong sell felli, would that blow our budget?

wishful thinking I think

Agree0 Disagree0

It wouldn't be Villa. IF this was true, I can see it being Soldado myself. Still a big name striker and is also apparently good mates with Martinez. See this as much more likely.

LIVERPOOL are planning to grab Arouna Kone from under the nose of new Everton boss Roberto Martinez.

The Wigan striker, 29, made a big impression with 13 goals in his first season in English football and was expected to follow Martinez to Goodison.

But with Luis Suarez almost certain to leave Anfield — and doubts about whether injured Daniel Sturridge will be fit for the start of the new season — Liverpool are determined to increase their firepower.

As well as considering whether to trigger Kone’s £6.5million release clause, they are also eager to complete the signing of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas for around £8m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let them have him, hot and cold player in my opinion. At 29 he's too old, the average age of the squad needs to be lowered, the entire package of fee and wages is too high with little sell on value. We'd be better off looking at other targets

Galatasaray will launch an audacious bid to sign Victor Anichebe from Everton for a fee of about 6m euros (£5.1m), tipped as the nigerian Didier Drogba, he scored 8 times for Everton last season (turkishpress)

If felli goes we need to sell him to Monaco as there not in the champions league so will have to pay 30m+ as they can't activate his release clause COYB!

Believable7 Unbelievable4

CL team has to pay c. £22m, non-CL has to pay c. £24m. It won't be anywhere near £30m. Plus a percentage has to go to Liege, allegedly, so we'd be lucky to break even and get our £15m back.

Next info is we r defo after lakarku an that's it I don't knoe if we will get him but we r defo after him. By the way poor svenny and Solomon full of c. p them!! I only say what is the truth. I personally don't think we will get him but we r after him. 100% truth

Believable1 Unbelievable12

So you only say the truth but you are not prepared to sign in or leave a name to your posts. It is very easy to say you knew it was going to be Martinez after he has been appointed and then make up who the other managers in the running were.

Frankly I find it inconceivable that we would only be interested in signing 1 player over the summer especially with a new manager in place. I don't expect us to sign a host of players as that's not generally what we do but I would of thought there will be 4/5 players coming in with maybe a couple going out.
