Do we have a decent scouting network Ed or are we just relying on those of the teams around us and waiting for them to bid on players? Seems to be the same story over and over again (e.g. Stoke, West Ham and now Newcastle).

Don't want any of those players but it seems like the only time our name is mentioned is when we are trying to hijack a deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we have a very good scouting team CT especially where youngsters are concerned, a lot of the choice of player is down to bobby though mate..

Lots of rumours flying about this morning about Wijnaldum from PSV. Fits the bill for me. 40 goals in 109 apps for PSV in an attacking midfield role. Only 24 years old. Noise is he's available at a price - if we have the cash, I can't see why we wouldn't be in for him. Sticking point could be Newcastle being prepared to offer more in wages than us. Thoughts Ed?

{Ed025's Note - i dont know a lot about him J, but his record is pretty impressive so why not mate..

Apparently in advance talks with Newcastle, looks like another dud rumour or we are not as appealing as Newcastle.
So, Stoke, West ham and now Newcastle. bit worried

Hi lads wijnaldum is a quality player and would give us a real goal threat from midfield but Newcastle officials have flown out Holland to try and push through a deal we always seem to be reacting to other teams making bids instead of us making the first move come efc board wake the hell up and be a bit more pro active in the transfer market

I don't understand why people are so worried about who Stoke, West Ham and Newcastle are signing. I think on the most part it's lazy journalism linking us to all these players. My guess is we either didn't ever want these players or just didn't think the players were worth that much. I'm hoping that we are looking at other signings as opposed to 'missing out' on these players.

Also, I think all of the players hinted at above are players who had world class potential as youngsters and things haven't worked out for them, so would represent some risk.

According to Newcastle chronicle they made a bid of just under 20 mil euros which is about 16 mil pounds he is good but not worth that amount of money prefer us to spend big on number 10 or another striker

I would've happy if we pulled this off, Howard needs stiff competition , also wouldn't mind cabaye , he's got the creativity we need

Never mind howard needing competition I would go as far as saying howard needs replacing.

Ospina and Cabaye and we are covered for the season. Let Garbutt get gametime and we will be better than last year.

He was one of the best keepers at the 2014 World Cup wasn't he, hence why arsenal signed him. I'd be happy with that too if he can replicate that form, in fact would be a steal for 5m.

I like Howard can still do a job rather money went for a new striker.

Howards best days are behind him. He makes to many mistakes.

I think we should pluck some kid off the street and say 'fancy playing in goal for Everton'. I guarantee you he would be better than Howard. I don't get why they want to get rid of him yet keep Chesny, watching Szezezny (did I get it right?) trying to be a Goalkeeper is hilarious, like watching a blind Ferret in a minefield. Would I take Ospina? Meh, okay keeper, but tbf, he looks World Class in comparison to Howard. Sign him up!

Where is the Jan Mucha money Bill?

The two keepers that stood out in the 2014 World Cup were Ochoa (Malaga) and navas (Madrid) , Howard needs replacing but he's not answer, don't see why we think other teams cast offs are an upgrade for us

08 Jul 2015 16:38:14
Does that mean we don't want Robles or is this going to be Howard's replacement

gibbo, remember who else was one of the best keepers in last summer's world cup? howard. I agree his best days are behind him but premier league performance is a better indicator.

Ospina is probably better that what we have but I would like us to look a little higher to be honest. He's ok, think and hope we can do better

Ur right nyblue but I think he was associating ospina with the two South Americans, I'm not saying but them either but ospina definitely not the answer an average keeper in a decent defense, they have Cech so they just want rid
