I bet the Americans take us over and Chinese billionaires don't lol.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its a lottery degs, who,s to say which one will fit the best..

08 Feb 2016 21:31:32
The increased wealth of the Chinese is no indication that they'll spend more money on the club.

Agree2 Disagree6

08 Feb 2016 23:53:56
You only have to look at what Chinese Clubs are paying to see what they are capable of. Also the Chinese market and potential fan base would be a huge plus for the future of Everton.

09 Feb 2016 01:07:45
Lets get real Chinese football wake up its money not running a club and what is best for the club look at Barcelona embargo but still sitting pretty bk I applaud you.

At the moment we rank in the bottom tier with our ticket prices are we looking at the £77 pound mark anytime soon .?

08 Feb 2016 22:14:10
just trying my jinx Ed, would love some of the Billions China have suddenly got to come our way.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - dont get me wrong degs the money would be great, but there is a certain gratification one gets from being the david in the footballing world of goliaths for me, just look at leicester this season, their squad cost less than half of what city paid for raheem sterling yet they sit proudly on top of the league, i have always loved that about everton, the underdog factor you might say or maybe im just a hopeless romantic who likes to see the little guy give the bully a bloody nose now and again mate..

09 Feb 2016 08:30:16
I still think we will be a small fish with these Americans. I just hope they put in enough for us to be debt free and finance a stadium. If this squad sticks together and we start winning things, the will have their money back in a few years.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the stadium is my priority as well geoff, i just hope its not at the expense of the team like arsenal, coventry and southampton off the top of my head who suffered because financial restrictions meant that because of the cost money was not available for players, the last 2 ending up being relegated....but maybe im just being a doubting thomas who is happy with my comfort blanket of top half premiership mediocrity mate..

09 Feb 2016 08:35:42
I understand what you are saying Ed but its the "now and again" bit for me mate, very very rare as shown with our last Cup in the cabinet, I want Citys Billions to take us up to the top, more the merrier for me, any club that breaks into Chinas new found wealth will be set for life and its just starting out really, I know a lot support the Barcas, RM, Utds but that's just because they are following what the next man/ woman supports, if a large corporation took on a Prem club and pushed it hard enough in that country then the sky's the limit, don't get me wrong I am also totally happy with the American guys too as these know how to run, manage and make a business profitable and successful.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its probably just me being a dinosaur degs, i know we need investment but fear that with our luck we might get the next gillette and hicks or shinawatra...ah well, lets just suck it and see mate..

09 Feb 2016 08:48:31
Agree ed, if this happens would like them to focus on a new stadium and back the manager with a few quid in the transfer market, sort out contracts for existing players! No need for a QPR situation where they bought nearly an entire squad of money grabbers which failed for them, I'm excited to see what there plans would be :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - so am i smeg, im waiting to see the blueprint though before i make my mind up mate...not that my opinion matters a jot.. :)

09 Feb 2016 09:33:43
Think I'd prefer to have investment from the yanks now rather than waiting to see IF the Chinese come in. Like you ed, wanna see what there plans are before running round the streets in stars and stripes undies.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i do that most weekends anyway geoff.. :)

09 Feb 2016 10:05:22
Hahaha think I saw you by garlands last Saturday, ed. Hahaha.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yeah that was me geoff, i was sporting a yellow cape, thigh length leather boots and a burberry cap.. :)

09 Feb 2016 12:02:24
Interest from the chinese doesn't even mean they'll put in a bid, it's a long road from interest to a takeover. I'd probably take the risk and have investment from the Americans now. This guy was worth £490m ten years ago and supposedly his fortune has increased significantly since then. Could be well into the billions now. There could also be other backers in the background worth billions too for all we know. Worth the risk I say.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Feb 2016 16:02:41
It said on radio yesterday that its not a takeover its investment.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Feb 2016 18:26:37
Finally decent takeover news, the echo are saying it will be done in couple of weeks woohooo! :-) X.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

08 Feb 2016 18:49:20
Great news. Quadruple bacon cheeseburgers and a root beer at the game instead of the usual pie an typhoo. Seriously though surely they would have their ideas on a new stadium in place before signing any deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 19:10:49
Come on lads let's welcome them they aren't going into this blindfolded they know what's expected we all were crying for a takeover now it looks like it's just around the corner.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 19:35:30
Agree stef, just hope Bill is well enough to remain in some position on the board as his advice will be paramount in keeping the club's tradition and values.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i second that longy..

08 Feb 2016 19:48:12
Me too would like him to have some say in the running of the club, but I don't think it works that way but he gave us his word he will only sell to buyers that have our best interests at heart and can take us to the next level for the long run I trust him on this.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 20:06:28
Just like to add that the Americans are supposed to have people involved in this consortium on both sides of the Atlantic I'm sure there are some wealthy people involved these two are just heading the consortium, I really believe this could be a good move they are no mugs in the buisness world so imagine what they could do for The Everton brand big sponsorships new stadium investment in the team hopefully competing for the league again I know my brain is running away with me right now but it could be just what we needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lets not get carried away yet stef, nothing concrete yet mate and no promises over the stadium or signings.. lest we forget the gillette and hicks saga across the park, i dont want to put a dampener on things or spoil anyones dreams i just think we should play it by ear, it does sound promising though mate..

08 Feb 2016 20:20:19
Is no body except me worried about these Americans and there motives? I know we've been crying out for investment for years but something doesn't seem right with this to me. Sorry for the negativity.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lets not speculate until we hear the full facts i say kingy, we will know more when we see their plans for the club mate, its always going to be a gamble one way or the other..

08 Feb 2016 20:34:03
Yea your spot on ed, I might have been dreaming mate but I hope they come true.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we all do stef mate..

08 Feb 2016 22:10:14
You said it all Stef when you say Bill will only sell to someone who has Everton's best interests at heart.

Bill like the rest of us doesn't no everything but I have faith in his judgment. In Bill I do trust.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Feb 2016 09:53:13
Don't you guys think its strange that we have serious interest in the club just as the new sky deal is just about to start next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Feb 2016 14:22:53
for every glazers buy out there's a randy lerner. just being honest we know diddly about these guys or there intentions, no point speculating, let's just see what happens, I do believe bill won't sell to them if he doesn't think there right for everton

nsno is our standard!

{Ed025's Note - im all for that dazza..

Zouma out for 6 months. think we should prepare ourselves for more 'John stones to Chelsea' talk.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Feb 2016 20:06:03
Do we really need him, I would take the money, it appears that his head is turned and he has cost us these last few games

Just my own opinion.

08 Feb 2016 22:40:50
Bang on get shut no stones no goals conceded in 3 games enough said.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 11:59:00
Hi all, I see we have been linked with Shezsney of Arsenal, bettered than Howard but I don't think he is the answer to our goalkeeping problem. Anybody any idea on who we could get realistically. Not many top GKs available. Forester of Southampton or Butland of Stoke would be my choice but don't think either one would be available without a mega offer so I don't think they are in the running.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

08 Feb 2016 12:21:27
begovic if he wants regular games.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 12:21:50
robles can be are no1 he deserves the chance 8 clean sheets in 10 appearances he is very capable, begervic wants away from Chelsea but he wants first team football we just need to find a no2 i. m. o.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 12:26:10
Steve mandanda.

Agree3 Disagree1

08 Feb 2016 12:30:03
Agree about Robles. Who knows, we may have a fantastic keeper already, but just needs a good run of games.1 or 2 mistakes happens with all keepers,so Robles No.1 for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 13:08:38
I agree muff. If Robles was given until the end of the season we'd have a better idea if he is capable to be our number one for the foreseeable future. Then all we'd need is a number 2.

This would save money for other areas to be strengthened. On the other hand if Joel has a disaster for the rest of the season. Then we'd know to get a number 1.

Personally can't see Joel playing that bad. Not 100% convinced he's our number one for next 10 years. Better than Howard at the moment for sure and is playing well.

Someone pointed out here before that he kept De Gea on bench when they were both playing for Spain U21's.

Problem is we've seen a lot more of De Gea since. Joel definitely deserves a proper crack at being number one. He has a good chance of cementing his place for a long time imho.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 14:00:00
Would we not use one of our young keepers as no.2? A lot of good keepers started playing first team at young age.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its a bit of gamble to do that geoff, any mistakes would be amplified and it could ruin a young keeper to be thrown to the lions , if he were to go on loan and impress then thats another matter mate..but thats just my opinion..

08 Feb 2016 14:21:59
That's exactly what happened with Big Nev Ed. didn't do him any harm lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think we can all agree big nev was a one off ace...they come around once every preston guild mate..

08 Feb 2016 14:55:20
greatest player I've ever seen in a royal blue shirt pure world class big nev won us the league in 85 that's how good he waswas player of the year to, if he were English he would of been spoken of more highly and defo was the worlds best at the time, if he was fit in 86 we would of done the double and not them, even back then we didn't have the luck, he broke his leg in a international for wales that cost us the league and fa cup am not blaming bobby mimms but just for been in goal would of been a massive diffrance big nev been fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 14:57:21
Good point ed but butland, de gea, casillas all started young. One of the Italian clubs, possibly juve have/ had 16 year old in goal recently.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 16:21:14
I never said we'd buy a number 2 just said we'd need one. Weather its within the club or not.

I have to agree with Ed025 though don't like seeing young keepers being thrown in.

Big Nev was certainly an exception and totally agree with above comment if he was English he would of been talked about and appreciated more by the media and so on.

You have to have a very good defence to allow a young keeper play and a very good team also. Like Juve have. It has to limit the chances of the keeper messing up.

This day and age I think De Gea and Casillas are exceptions also. De Gea looks to have a big career ahead of him. For his sake Utd should be doing better. He deserves to be winning medals he's that good.

Butland don't know what to say only would like to see him in a Everton shirt. Far more so than Begovic. Not good enough for me. Decent keeper but better options available imho.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 16:43:47
Begovic is absolute quality in my opinion if we could get him we have solved our problem. Schiezny tho?! Would be a waste of money because he's no better than Joel I'd rather let him have a run in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - always prone to a mistake kingy...thats why arsenal got rid of him..

08 Feb 2016 17:42:47
Foster would be my choice as I've said in previous posts. But I can't see Southampton letting him go unless it was a mega bucks offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 17:45:49
So you wouldn't be happy if we chucked degear or Anthony Lopez from Lyon or coutior from chelsea parden the spelling between the sticks its not really about how old you are its about how good you are

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 17:51:42
Totally agree eds. if he's not good enough for arsenal why should he be good enough for us. No thanks.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Feb 2016 21:10:13
Yann Sommer from Monchengladbach if we could afford him.

Very quiet on takeover front ed, got a feeling it was a load of crap again its to quiet.
We been here before.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - we have pb, and thats why im not getting over excited just yet mate..

08 Feb 2016 08:22:02
I think this is a go'er this time, or at least a truthful one, in the past the club have always come out and stated there is no takeover as it's just rumours, as far as I am aware they have not done it this time, even Roberto the Great (we have won 3) came out and said a few remarks which you could take as a hint that there is a takeover in progress, when he was talking about Bill would only sell to someone he trusted etc.

I believe this is happening but am not getting too excited just yet, I think you believe this one more than normal too Ed but are holding back, just for you Pb I bet no takeover happens ha ha.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 10:52:08
They're buying a football club worth £200 million, not a loaf of bread from Tesco. It'll take a while.

Ed you know but don't say. That is not we have mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2016 14:50:32
May be spending £200 million may be not but however you look at it, surely some news would have leaked out. Every time we have rumours/ news to build our hopes up along comes a sop to detract from our inevitable disappointment this time that sop is Naise.

I know the silence is deafening but be patient. As I said good times are around the corner. Keep the faith.
