Finch Farm sponsorship deal is with USM Holdings, holding company of Alisher Usmanov where Moshiri is chairman of the board.

Ive just saw that. In no way an expert so I'm probably wrong but surely that could be seen as a conflict of interest? Uzmanovs company part owning arsenal but sponsoring everton?

The club doesn't own FF. Loophole?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no conflict of interest and no loophole. It is simply a sponsorship deal - nothing more, nothing less.}

{Ed025's Note - no probs mate..

06 Jan 2017 07:22:20
Ed i think we should leave a kepper till summer and put a striker on the list for January window because if ROM doesn't score then no one else seems to we definatly lack goals in the attack

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats a fair point duke..

05 Jan 2017 17:21:41
Schinderlin by end of play tomorrow, that's my guess.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

05 Jan 2017 17:34:45
Just hoping mate, but I think they know after the summer messing round will get you know where.

05 Jan 2017 17:41:27
Schniderlin by end of tomorrow is very optimistic think we should go back in with a 22 mil bid for him and see what reaction that bid gets from utd think that we might have to pay over the odds for players if we do really want them in this window.

I understand our fans getting excited at the prospect of maybe signing schneiderlin, but to be honest it's the attacking positions that should be paramount, we need creativity and goals, someone to hold the ball up and create space for Lukaku, I'm all for schneiderlin, but just feel that given out position in the league, if we could add a couple of attacking players we could consolidate 7th position, and maybe look to push further on whence the teams above resume European football.

Interesting that we have not been linked with Fonte much. Apparently he won't sign a new deal at Southampton and our manager knows him very well.

05 Jan 2017 17:29:02
He's 33. I'd rather we look for younger players.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Jan 2017 17:33:15
Fonte is a good player but we should look for younger defenders how many more over 30s in defence do we want van dyk would be my choice but can't see that happening so Keane, Gibson and smalling would do for me.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jan 2017 22:14:40
Not that I'm entirely in the Fonte in gang but how many up and coming young CB are we going to sign too?

Ideally someone in mid twenties. We have Mori who is in that age group. Also have Holgate and Galloway who are round the 20 mark.

I wouldn't completely full out Fonte. We'd know exactly what we are getting. An injury to Williams and it looks like we'd be up sh*te street. As much as I like Jags and appreciate everything he has done as of late he's not performing.

Not saying I really want Fonte but can see plenty of positives about signing him. Look at it this way, he'd be 100 times better signing than Niasse.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2017 22:19:27
O yea, forgot to mention Browning and Matty Foulds. Are these 4 young CB's I mentioned going to get a chance?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2017 13:07:22
I think RK preferred backline is with a back 3 so we need legs at the back so i can see Galloway being given a chance next season on the left side of the 3 with Holgate on the right of the 3. We then need a strong central defender which seems to be Williams this season but he isn't the future.

So i can see why we wouldn't want or need Fonte as we would then have a player approaching 34 next season with no resale value who will not be getting game time.

VVD would be the ideal candidate but can't see that happening personally.
If we did pull it off that would be a good young footballing back 3 that could be the future of our club and the foundation to build upon.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2017 16:31:26
I know not as glamorous as VVD or as long term as someone like Michael Keane, but I think we should go in to Jose Fonte now he's put in a transfer request.

Improvement on jags, class at euros, natural leader and rk knows him very well. In fact he was one of best defenders in league under rk.

Doesn't solve issue of ageing team, but would massively improve back line for very little outlay.

Ed, do you know if there is any interest in him? I know utd were linked in summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - There is interest but not from Everton. If that changes I will let you know.}

05 Jan 2017 16:38:04
Thanks for the quick response ed. I hope it does change!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Everton are looking to the future with Adam Webster supplemented by interest in the likes of either Michael Keane or else Ben Gibson for the summer - that is the sensible approach and the one I think you should get behind ST.}

05 Jan 2017 16:58:58
I am fully behind that approach - and Keane or Gibson would be great signings. I've never seen Webster play so can't comment on him

But I do think that Fonte would improve our defensive options particularly for the next 18 months and do so potentially fairly cheaply with jags seemingly going downhill fast.

But it's good to hear that we are working to get good options for the future as well!

05 Jan 2017 17:01:51
Can we have both in the summer please ed👌.
