Oh joy, the answer to all our problems. We are going to sign a 2nd choice keeper, from a championship side (wigan) who have themselves won one game in the last ten, there's, nothing like ambition, and that about sums up our level of ambition. PS. Will their tea lady be joining us anytime soon, or can't we meet her wage demands.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - so long as we dont get their chairman JCW thats the main thing.. by the way, did you hear that he broke his leg at wembley?, he does not like to mention it though mate.. :)

The player in question, Al-Habsi, is likely to be playing for Oman in the Asian Cup, which takes place throughout January. Tim Howard is expected to return in February. Aside from any concerns about the quality of Al-Habsi, what's the point of signing him - even on loan - if he won't be available for some of January. We need an experienced goalkeeper in the squad alongside Joel until Howard returns. In the summer transfer window, we can look at permanent replacements for Howard and/or Joel - that is unless one of our young goalkeepers (Griffiths, Stanek, Hunt, etc.) really shines, which is unlikely imho at this relatively early stage in their development.

{Ed025's Note - good logic there sid...well done mate..

Only my opinion, but don't think Bobby will sign a replacement keeper! I reckon Robles will get a run of games now! The scary thing for me is that he even looks like Richard Wright:(

Any news of new contracts for oviedo and garbutt both up in june

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - talks are still ongoing sean..

I'd hate either of them to leave.
On the basis that our 25-man first-team squad should have two good players for every position, then two out of Baines, Oviedo and Garbutt will surely be the preferred left-backs and one of them might have to be used for another position (Oviedo wide left or Baines defensive midfield).

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed. Yeah sid I would be gutted for either to leave. Oviedo was just getting a run when he got injured and garbutt looks like he could be a very good player in the next year or so. He also looks like he can take a decent corner unlike a lot of our players.

Ed do you know anything about these coleman rumours that are going round. If he went to chelsea could a swap deal including someone like salah be on the table. Also with petr cech onthe bench could we negotiate a deal including him although wages would probably be a massive issue.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - they are just rumours as far as i am aware sean, martinez will be very reluctant to let him go, the press love to jump on these things when a side is struggling mate, cech will not be coming of that im sure, and with relations not great between chelsea and ourselves after the atsu debacle, i doubt we will be doing much business with them anytime soon, but thats just my take fella..

Thanks ed. Thought cech was a bit optimistic. Would be gutted to lose coleman aswell. Are we working on deals for mirralas and mccarthy aswell. Mirralas is the worry for me with rumours he wants champs league.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - there are new and improved deals for them sean that the club expect them to sign mate..

Ed any truth were trying to sign Argentina goal keeper Romera spelled his name wrong, apparently us the reds are after him.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - romero has been looked at by both teams stef, we are the team who need a keeper more as i see it and would put us in pole position mate..

Didn't a Romero (the actor Cesar Romero) play "The Joker" in the TV version of "Batman"? In which case, haven't we already had a couple of jokers keeping goal for us this season?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good one mate..
