Ok. So on the second attempt. We currently have 2 front runners for the managers post, that appear to be dividing opinion. We've heard points and opinions, both good and bad for both men. What I propose is a kind of "show of hands" for your personal preference.
Believeable for Vitor Pereira
Unbelievable for Roberto Martinez.

Believable31 Unbelievable29

Hmmm - just 13 votes so far. Hardly a representative poll of the thousands of Everton fans. However, two thoughts: (1) the even split between VP and RM does seem to tie in with the "gut feel" about the wider opinion; and (2) how many fans actually want someone besides these leading two - i. e. Michael Laudrup?

Who do people think the two candidates Kenwright is interviewing tomorrow are? {Ed025's Note - i think mattyo may be one.. :)

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Who's Mattyo? {Ed025's Note - he was the young guy who posted a lot of sense earlier, someone suggested he apply..hence the :) ..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ohhhh, thought you meant Di Matteo and had had an uncharacteristic lapse of knowledge ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it'll be malky mackay and steve clarke interviewed tomorow. So the list of managers who will have been interviewed would be?
Solskaer
Mackay
Martinez
Clarke
Stubbs
Weir
Periera
And I can't remember the last one that I've seen as being confirmed! Anyone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez and pereira again, can't appoint a manager after just 1 meeting

Agree0 Disagree0

If the OP meant Roberto Di Matteo, then surely he'd have been one of the "out of contract" candidates interviewed by BK last week? Vitor Pereira would also have been one of those candidates in light of his contractual situation at Porto. The week before was for internal candidates.
This week is for interviewing "in contract" candidates - or so it's been said - but the only one of those we've publicly been given permission to approach is Roberto Martinez. So who are the other "in contract" candidates being interviewed this week?
I can't imagine there'll be second interviews for any candidate - although there might be negotiations about the contract details of course - especially as we are told a decision will be made by this coming weekend.
RhinoSoreAss

Agree0 Disagree0

Reckon DiMatteo was last week, BK has said he conducted internal interviews week one, those out of contract week two (DiMatteo), and then other potential candidates this week. I reckon the two others are Ole Gunnar and Bilic. My hunch is the media are going to mental over these two over the weekend, announcement Wednesday next week. This is just my guess, no sources.

fellaini to stay?
source daily mail website

Meanwhile there were encouraging signs from Marouane Fellaini that he is ready to ignore interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs and stay at Goodison Park.
‘But my destiny is to Everton, I can honestly say the change of coach does not change anything, ’ he said.

Just heard from very reliable source, DEAL DONE for new manager, so far its all been smoke screen and mirrors, for wait for it.

Believable4 Unbelievable12

People have been saying done deal since the day moyes signed for united! not deal is done until it is announced by the club

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you are right, the media, bookmakers and some others have got to over excited about RM like he is the only applicant for the job. I think there could be a real surprise coming!

Its not all doom and gloom lads, we have a quality player in Seamus Coleman. £150,000 well spend!

Believable14 Unbelievable4

29 May 2013 22:49:41
We paid 60,000 for him :p

Agree0 Disagree0

Wasn't it £60, 00? We didn't have that much cash! {Ed025's Note - yes it was..

Agree0 Disagree0

It rose to 150000 in the end I think

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe we also were first in for James McClean, but we couldn't stump up the £350k Sunderland signed him for. Not a world beater but a bargain at that price. Colemans attitude is first class. Chris

Agree0 Disagree0

60k well spent, he has shown that this season

Agree0 Disagree0

How many fans were slating Seamus Coleman and wanting rid before he'd had a chance to develop as a player in our first team?
Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course - and he did make mistakes - but the knee-jerk reaction of so many fickle fans just goes to make me thankful that we have people among our club's coaching staff who recognise potential and know how to realise it so often.
If the new manager could get the best out of some of our under-achieving players - and develop our young talent - wouldn't that be something?

Ok. Explain why if you where Martinez you would leave your job to be interviewed and not guaranteed another job then gamble on another club wanting you if you did not get it. Kenwright won't employ anyone who comes in demanding money. Martinez will be his yes man.

Martinez hasn't actually left his Job he has just stated he does not want to mange Wigan in the Championship. I believe he is still on his twelve month rolling contract. It would be interesting to see what he does if he does not get the Everton post. Its a strange one really, he must either know he's got the job and everton are just going through the formalities of interviewing or he has other prospects on the horizon and is unconcerned if he does not get the post.

MikeDeBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

We basically need a new striker don't we.

Vic is no way a top 6 team forward and jelavic looks like he could not hit a barn door now. Something very weird has happened to him, as he looks worse than a pub player.

His shots go anywhere, some even near the corner flag. Even pub players can hit a decent shot on target.

I think I'm about to have a stroke. please Bill! {Ed025's Note - calm down mushy...you see pereira is useless...he is a manager who is in charge of a decent team in a sub-standard league, who only have 1 other team to beat, he has actually done nothing!..he inherited a team from AVB, who in turn inherited it from jose mourhino...he has not actually signed 1 decent player himself, also he cannot speak any english, so will have trouble communicating with the players.......you see how easy it is mushy to trash someone else,s choice?......get my drift?..

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually ed025, pereira speaks english, better than avb infact {Ed025's Note - i was being facetious...to make a point..

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this the same Jackson Martinez that has a £33m buy out clause in his contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 18:29:33

Believable15 Unbelievable18

29 May 2013 18:41:54
Yer and get relegated

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly, we can do better than Martinez, we should aim higher than a manager that's just gone down a league. we've moved on from those days. don't want him and all his Wigan rejects

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 19:05:06
My concern over Pereira is that usually foreign managers who are not familiar with the Premiership tend to buy players they are familiar with from the league they have just left. We would then be in a position where both the manager and some of his signings are having to adjust to life in the Premiership. The downside of this being that the manager would need a substantial budget, not only for his initial signings, but also to purchase replacements if they were not up to scratch. This may be a gamble that we as a club cannot afford to take.

Shropshire Blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like that Shropshire, this is true and I doubt I have over VP. Its tough isn't it, there is the winning or two league titles and Jose did it but as you say had a lot more cash to play with.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 22:38:16
Oh Christ so if VP was manager we would have to accept some rubbish players from Portugal? God and people are having a go at me on this site!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 18:33:58
Not that I expect or even want apologies but I do feel the info everyone has been open to in the last 48 hours shows that what I have stated over the last week or so was accurate. 1) Pereria was approached and has been interviewed and at the time was the only candidate. 2) Martinez was not approached and neither was anyone else. For my personal opinion I think BK is doing due dillegance as after the crest debacle he has to be shown to not jumping to a decision. Porto offered Pereria a contract 48 hours ago, he has not signed. Martinez resigned 36 hours ago and has not been offered a job. You decide who is the "favourite" for the job. One has a job offer but won't accept, one is unemployed and still is.

Svenny

Believable10 Unbelievable5

29 May 2013 18:40:29
Please God its Vp

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Svenny but I don`t see it that way. I can remember you indicating that VP was a nailed on banker, this conclusion was arrived at because of inside information received by yourself from a source you were reluctant to divulge. Now, I am not criticising the info you shared, but now that we are seeing things a little clearer and the process is becoming more transparent you shouldn`t try and twist your info to fit the facts. Again, not criticising, but your info was lukewarm at best, sorry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think yout going to finf it hard for people to beleivr u mate. so in other words your sticking with vp who u think will be next manager

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 18:58:45
Rubbish you said it was a done deal Roberto will get the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes please not Martinez at least. BK made me feel better today with his interview and from the sounds of it the press and media hype around Martinez is all that is fueling the bookies. 2 more to see after him plus the list BK referred to. not done yet, let's just hope its not Martinez and the Wigan shoddy players. why would you take on our squad that def needs strengthening in a few areas, break it up and replace it with a team of relegated players??

Agree0 Disagree0

Svenny, I believe the sentence "Martinez has Resigned" was quickly discounted by Mr JJB Whelan by saying "He is still our manager, we've just given him permission for talks". A Plan B me thinks!

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair if Martinez was the primary target I think we would have named him already now he left wigan. I think its VP but the porto offer has effected negotiations. Surely we'll know by the weekend either way

Agree0 Disagree0

I said and now you can search it that VP was interviewed, an offer was made and it was accepted pending him saying goodbye to Porto. At that point nobody else had been approached. We now publicly know that Friday was the first time everton approached Wigan. My source is American do the f-ing maths. VP is first choice hense the not favourite remarks but at the time he had no offer on the table from Porto.

Svenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Good stuff Svenny, opening up a little there lad. All we seem to all agree on is RM is not the fans choice and far from it. And I like the post about "permission" to speak to him. surely if BK was that keen on him and desperate to get him in he would have just gone straight for him. he is guaging their suitability and quite rightly so, let's hope it pays off and we can all come together next season and roar the team on

Agree0 Disagree0

What a load of crap svenny. Not favourite tag because you are playing into whelans hands otherwise also how can someone be favourite when he hasn't been interviewed and also "2" other candidates.

Agree0 Disagree0

Svzenny you're wrong on so many things here buddy.
Stubbs was offered it and still might take it :)
I think Bilic will have his say this week according to a journo in Russia.
This is far from nailed on ;)
Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Been following svennygate very closely. For all the haters out there - yup svenny may have set himself up a little and therefore should expect a little stick back. but man u guys set yourselves up if you believe everything he wrote, and then blame him for his proclaimations not coming true. I reckon svenny has only revealed information passed to him (rightly or wrongly) so rather than give him too much grief you should use your excess energy to heckle all of the negative posters that come on, and treat svennys post with the response befitting of a "rumour" site, rather than a hate campaign. At the other end of the scale svenny you have to take a little stick mate. you did put your head above the parapit. that aside your posts have fuelled many a discussion on here, so I for one thank you for that. jlaff

heard that if Martinez signs he may be looking to bring Alcaraz with him. The only reason wigan went down is because of how shocking their defending was, and he was a prime suspect. Other players, sure, but no defenders.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Wasn't he injured for most of the season? just like all of wigan's first team defence? I pretty sure that why they went down

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course it had nothing to do with the manager or the rest of the team? Who will we be getting next Scharner?!

Agree0 Disagree0

To suggest Wigan went down because of Alcaraz, is just silly. Alcaraz would be a good addition, trust me. He reads the game, can play with both feet, has a great first touch and can pass a ball. Anyone that saw the FA Cup game with any knowledge would be able to see that. He also spent the majority of the season out with a groin injury, in fact, if you check the stats you will see that Wigan had a good record when Alcaraz was fit and played.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree a very good player.

If pereira signed he would attract portguese or ex porto players, martinez signs and he will attract ex wigan players or spanish ones for the cheap {Ed025's Note - who told you that lew?..

Believable3 Unbelievable6

They will attract whoever they can afford.

Agree0 Disagree0

I had have McCarthy McManman and Kone all day long

Agree0 Disagree0

Where do people get the idea that a new manager will go back to their old club to buy players. Moyes never went back to Preston, sure the may bring one in if they think it will improve the new club, I doubt in the history of the game anyone has gone a bought 4 or 5, might has well stay where you are if you want them.
RickTee {Ed025's Note - i agree rick..

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have McManaman, but as for the rest they can keep them thanks. The other point is RM has said he doesn't feel equipped to bring Wigan back up! Oh but feels he is owed a top Premier league club like ours?? GET OUT! and STAY OUT!

Agree0 Disagree0

We may as well interview McCleish? or Graham Taylor or even O'Neil!

Is Laudrup really the person for everton?

Ed, this is the post I asked about, sure I put it on banter tho! And it's been edited to death, post missing its main points.
Similar post on banter now anyway.

Bad move

Sheedysleftfoot

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck with that top 6 finish under Martinez

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton are a far better club that wigan? Sp you expect if everton was bottom of prem that alex fergie came to everton they would win the leauge just because he has before? Narrow minded some people

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance of top 6. Top 10 first season more realistic for Martinez

Agree0 Disagree0

Amd you would be complaining at top 10 on FIRST season for a manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

And you think VP can come from
Overseas and do better than martinez in the prem, NO CHANCE people
Need to start getting behind martinez

Agree0 Disagree0

Ill wait to see who is appointed before getting behind RM mate, I am sure he is a lovely bloke but face facts we will struggle with him in charge. Most of the current squad will leave as they will want better than top 10, that leaves a void he will fill with cheap Wigan players "he knows he can rely on in a relegation battle" except they took them down. To be honest I find the whole hype around RM insulting, its media fuelled but we shouldn't even be interviewing someone of that calibre frankly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leroy fer will be Everton first signing after June 1st when the windw opens

Believable7 Unbelievable7

How can you say that. the manager whoever he is might not want him

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends if the new manager wants him or not

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton haven't got the money to buy an expensive player like Fer in case the incoming manager doesn't fancy him. The last time that happened was when Peter Johnson blew Howard Kendall's whole transfer budget on the awful Slavin Bilic. What an expensive failure Mr Bilic turned out to be.

I have my fair share of contacts inside the club but it is all very quiet and I tell you now that people saying directors have told them x or why is coming or whoever is none sense. They would not tell anybody. But I'm telling you now Pereira is not coming. My guess is probably Martinez judging by the tv.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

BK has said on tv that there is a list, RM is on the list and there is no favourite. let's keep them all crossed for the right man

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Hazza.

I know someone on the board and they are ignoring me completely at the minute. No-one from the club will say anything until the press release. I'm sure they'll have have sign NDA's.

Just to throw my 10pence in, my preference is Periera but if it's Martinez I will get behind him 100%.

We've all wanted some big changes for a while, well they're coming lads, get excited not depressed!

Agree0 Disagree0

My sentiments exactly Toffee John.

x and why or x and y*

Agree0 Disagree0

So the directors won't say anything yet you can tell us that its definately not VP? another in the " know " I guess! mef!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon, the odds are coming in again

Agree0 Disagree0

And still the rubbishters continue with their claim of inside information. I wish they would give it up as i'm sick of hearing it.

Kenwright says he's still considering other candidates despite preparing talks with Roberto Martinez.

Agree0 Disagree0

So hazza is no one inside the club is saying a word then how do you 'know' pereira is not coming?

Agree0 Disagree0

It is my opinion that vp probably won't come, he would want major funds, plus would he really give up european football? I don't 'know' for sure, just it seems very unlikely

anyone know how ibou touray has been doing? and what are his strengths?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Not heard a lot about him lately, Would think bidwell and garbutt are further ahead in their development

Has anyone heard if RM is going to talk to any other clubs, ie, Stoke or Malaga? KK.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Everything is saying Stoke getting Huges so we don't hold much hope there. just got to keep holding onto the fact he messes up his interview!

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard Malaga want him but reports are suggesting he is back in the UK and having talks today with the club.

It's a case of whether or not Bill has the balls to interview anyone else like Pereira. It seems that Moyes has suggested him but why Uniteds manager has a say baffells me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope so!

Agree0 Disagree0

No Roberto Martinez is the new unofficial Everton manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Accordint to sky just now, kenwright say's martinez is not the favorite, hmmmm!! needs sorting blues, coyb nsno eid, oh ftrs, just a little comment on our crest, the word EVERTON has got to be on the crest b4 anything else if we want to establish our club world wide ,

Pereira is a coach not a manager he only runs the first team has not got a clue how to be a manager in the premier league he is a coach not a manager he would need lots of people to help him plus he's media shy and he can't motivate the players when the going gets tough which is going to happen in our league he's used to winning so people say. wow he's in a bad league with a great team lol he's amazing isn't he

Believable4 Unbelievable4

So who would you rather have RM who has battled relegation the last few years and took them down this year conceded 70 odd goals in the premier league or a man who has just won his league and as for coach or manager isn't that why we've got backwoods staff like Stubbs weir dunc Lee1878

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah suppose your right, just went a whole season undefeated.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, but, think of who he'll bring: Atsu, Mangala, Defour etc. world class talent. Martinez: Mcmanaman, McCarthy, Kone. Decent players, but relegated for a reason and not going to improve us. {Ed025's Note - what makes you think that you know who they will bring in!..come on guys, get in the real world..

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who ends a post with a 'lol' is not to be taken seriously, imo. And Mangala, Kone, Defour, Mcmanamanamanamananman, Atsu etc, etc indeed-get in the real world this isn't FM or FIFA.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest – all you have done is jump on the bandwagon again. Nobody knew who Vitor was until he was mentioned as a potential replacement, then you went on your laptops and typed him in on Google and now make out you have been wanting him for an eternity.

The same applies with Atsu and Mangala – again you most probably didn’t know who they were till they were mentioned on the internet. Unproven in the best league in the world, anyone can look good in that league – only have to look at Nuno Valente for that or Abel (Judas) Xavier for that matter. Granted Defour is a great player but he wouldn’t come to us anyway.

I would much rather Martinez than Vitor – knows the league well, plays great football. We have 3 internationals in our back line already who have been playing together for years, do you really think they will just stop knowing how to defend due to a change of manager. I don’t think so. Put Moyes in charge of Wigan and he would have lasted as long if not shorter than Martinez. The difference in quality of the team is evident. Add to the fact we were lucky to beat Wigan at Goodison this year, they then rectified that in the cup and demolished us and played us off the park. At least Martinez won one of the most respected trophies in world football whilst taking them down.

Bring on Martinez and a decent attacking formation. IMWT – COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

So just let me get this clear, he's a coach?

Agree0 Disagree0

Anonymous OP:

''Pereira is a coach not a manager''

''can't motivate the players when the going gets tough''

#1 Re: Coach etc. You can call him the char lady if you like however he seems to do more than make the tea in Portugal wouldn't you say?

#2 Re: can't motivate etc. Well I'll tell you what buddy RM couldn't motivate HIS hapless (league) hero's from the drop could he?

This is getting crazy the arguments put forward are just pathetic!

Agree0 Disagree0

What the poster said is only what the Porto fans are saying, he may be tactically good and gone undefeated but apparently he is quite and does need back staff to shout!
Which does make me think would he be best?
I would like to think that BK will mention To RM about his defensive record, ask him how he would improve it, even offer Stubbs as his number 2, that would help him greatly!

Agree0 Disagree0

Next season as a transition top 10 and a cup run is succees

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people ALWAYs assume a new manager will bring the best talent in from their old club? These players have contracts that need buying out and transfer fees. if people haven't got the hint after all these years here it is loud and clear. WE. ARE. SKINT!

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually I want vitor because he can bring something different. I admit it may be a bit risky but might just be the thing we need to break into that top 4. And it was moyes that built the team we have today. So saying Martinez had a worse team to manage holds a bit of responsibility on himself. However, that said Martinez is my second choice and would not be too disappointed if he was appointed.

Got a funny feeling about Laudrup guys

Rich84

Believable5 Unbelievable9

Rich
me too, plus I had a few quid on him!

stewillow

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a matter of record that he has had a major fallout with the board, might be angry enough to walk away!

Agree0 Disagree0

Same here. What was laudrup agent doing at the Everton agaist Chelsea? I think Everton will talk to laudrup. He said if Swansea don't give him 14 m he be leaving we know Everton can match his kitty with te TV money and selling heitinga

Agree0 Disagree0

Find this one hard to believe but have £20 on him at 33/1 so proper have my fingers crossed.

Would certainly spell out our intentions to progress.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is pretty, Rich so can understand your feeling mate. But we have to focus on a manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Laudrup will be the next PSG manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah he's just signed a contract extension so that obviously means he's looking for a move

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny good or funny bad?

Agree0 Disagree0

I have just flew to the bookies and put £10 on and its 25/1, never gamble but thought why not, I will take my bird out for a little treat and celebrate Laudrups appointment at the same time :)

Let's pray he cocks it up

Agree0 Disagree0

Could laudrup be the unnamed. Person Everton talking to

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love it to be Laudrup but gut feeling the 'unnamed' candidate are Stubbs/Weir/Nev. I think if Robbie gets the Job there's no reason why one of them can't be the no. 2. COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

Pereira supported by Neville would be a good one for us or Laudrup.

I would be over the moon but with Martinez I just don't think he sends out the right signals and I can't see him attracting decent player compared to Pereira or Laudrup.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully rm wiganese and spanglish will screw him up

Apparently from a HP source in the club, BK has planned a conference tomorrow night with press and back room staff, to clarify who will come in for Moyes. He's meeting Martinez and Stubbs today about the role and he's speaking with Pereira tomorrow mid day.

Were did you hear this Aaron cause you never tell bs stories so I tend to believe you mate but can you say were you heard it.

It's all done and dusted. Martinez! Wow I am so underwelmed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its Martinez. Why would he resign? Without a club lined up

Agree0 Disagree0

According to tv this morning periera was interviewed last Monday!

Agree0 Disagree0

There have been so called "rounds" of meetings with most. At first it was people in the club, then some of previous candidates and Pereira and an unnamed manager ( not Martinez as he was still under contract with Wigan and BK didn't want to go for him if he didn't want to leave), and today and tomorrow the three remaining candidates

Agree0 Disagree0

All I can say is that we are headed for harsh times should Maritnez be confirmed. already lining up a load of Wigan relegation players he wants to change our "style". our style is alright thanks (first goal v West Ham) he should go to Stoke and change their style! Its all going to go to pot if Martinez gets the job that's all I can say. Total joke of an appointment. {Ed025's Note - he has not even got the job yet..and already you know his transfer targets!, and his style of play...do us a favour mate..have a day off

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 12:13:52
my take on if martinez was to take over and change our "style" would not be changing the west ham 1st goal, as let's be honest that is not our usual style. we usually hump it up to fellaini to attempt to contol on his chest then lay off to other players. in more recent games where fellaini had been deployed in a deeper role, the ball was humped up to anichebe to head down or onto mirallas. what I believe the quote martinez has said to you is to intend that our style of play adapt to like the 1st goal against west ham! I'd take that all day long. CraigHuytonBlue

A website in Portugal states what is probably already known in that apparently VP has been offered a 2 year extension to his Porto contract but is taking time to reflect. The phrase used translates as him deciding in "the near week"-not sure if this means end of this week or next (probably next bweek) The article also mentions the speculation over his link with Everton. Make of it what you will but at least he hasn't publicly agreed to a stay at Porto yet!
On line translators change his name to "Pear Tree" by the way-now where's that partridge?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

It's Roberto Martinez. So let's all stop bs

Everton will play Juventus in the first round of the ICC Tournament on 31st July. Game to be played AT & T Park in San Francisco.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

We appear to have taken some stick from certain quarters. well from the RS. that we will be out of our depth in this tournament. We will certainly be up against some quality sides and I think it is a sign of how well respected we have now become as a club, that we have been invited. (Wavertree Blue)

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather play teams like that and have a challenge than play teams like morecombe etc and go into the season having had no tough pre season games
