So Martinez has now said that fans who have criticised the team this season aren't "real Evertonians". It's bad enough listening to all of his excuses for the poor results and poor performances this season, but to say that the worried and long-suffering supporters aren't "real Evertonians" is just insulting in my humble opinion.

{Ed025's Note - mine too sid..

I am so insulted by that comment! Its not the team I have a problem with Mr Martinez. It is you, your poor excuses, your shambolic preseason, your methods and your inability to see they aren't working. Please #### off

I think it's time for a new manager. BK should try and get Frank De Boer in my opinion? Sadly you just know that will never happen.

Actually quite insulted that RM thinks only 'proper Evertonians 'are supporting the team, and that he feels performances have been better than results! Was he not watching the Chelsea game at home so early in the season when the warning signs were showing! or the collapse against Arse!
Proper Evertonians Mr Martinez will not be fobbed off with this BS!

That's the last straw!
Message to RM.
The people who are criticising have spent a lot of time and money supporting a team and manager who are continually making excuses for shambolic performances.
If those people, who are criticising you, were performing at this level in their own careers/jobs then I very much doubt that they would have sufficient funds to turn up week in week out and be subjected to such dross!
You're new name should be the Teflon kid as you seem determined to make sure that none of this criticism should stick on you!
Please just admit you are not up to our expected standards and walk away with a bit of dignity!
Evertonians would respect and welcome honesty from yourself rather than this obnoxious and arrogant stance that has now turned to attack!
2 of the kids fighting in training and the police called in???
Ffs there is something very very wrong here and it's time Bill acted like the EVERTONIAN he professes to be and saves our club!

But he did'nt say that did he? if you had listened to the actual coverage the clubs own websie he was praising the fans and agreeing that people have the right to be disspointed and frustrated

Murf1000 - here's the piece:

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that he has only been disappointed with ONE of his side’s performances this season – the one against Hull – and added that “proper Evertonians” are showing their support and being realistic.
After a fantastic season last time out Evertonians went into this term with high expectations but after a run of form which has seen just five wins from 22 Premier League games so far, a growing number of fans are becoming anxious.
There is talk of relegation on the terraces, and a number of fans have said they want Martinez to leave Everton – just 18 months into his reign – despite the excellent season last time out.
“Of course, we are the first ones who are frustrated, ” the Everton boss said.
“There was one performance that wasn’t good enough and that was against Hull.
“But the performances have been better than the results have shown and that is a frustration.
“When results are not going well there is a big fashion to be critical of our football club but proper Evertonians are showing their support and are realistic and are understanding that we have played a lot better than the results show.”
The last sentence is sure to antagonise fans who have booed their side off the pitch at recent matches, and while it appears Martinez has broken from his usual considered comments and taken the bait, there was a former Everton captain who used the phrase “proper Evertonians” and lived to tell the tale from outside the club shortly afterwards.
Everton are still in a transition period and last season could easily be seen as an anomaly, but his ill-judged comments will do little to ingratiate the fans if results don’t turn around soon.

Thanks Ed
We should put all these Msgs on the big screens at half time at Goodison and make the entire staff read everyone one of them and respond!
The worst part of all this has to be the fact that if he does go out relief would be short lived.
We will have even more insecurities to deal with because Sky and the press would then start the managerial merry go round and we all know the usual suspects will be mooted as the new boss'
The life of an EVERTONIAN ay? Haha

{Ed025's Note - people within the club do read these pages pablo, not just these but other forums as well, so for me they either dont give a toss, or are not willing or able to change things mate...which one im not sure..

29 Jan 2015 14:22:01
Maybe that's where the problem lies then ed?
Too many yes men!
His comment about the only bad performance being against hull absolutely flabbergasted me.
I would put it another way and say our only acceptable performances can be counted on one hand!

{Ed025's Note - im with you pablo..

He didn't actually say that but by his other comments our performances have not matched the results etc! The bloke is showing he is delusional and as for the stupid stupid comment 'proper Evertonians' we are all proper Evertonians Roberto. Yes we did have a good season but once Roberto's methods had started to take hold, how was our end of season? I fear that Roberto and the Club have left it far far to late but hopefully there are some below us that will also struggle and then it is time for major changes in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im racking my brains to think of 3 worse teams DM...not on paper, but on grass...and im struggling mate..

29 Jan 2015 17:45:01
Martinez is right about the Everton support (use that word loosely) but the fact is Everton supports have probably been the worst in the league this season at getting behind there team. There is a sense of entitlement with most of you where that comes from I don't know considering how average we've been over the years, so personally i'm with Roberto on this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - did you not see the lille game away mike? or any other away game come to that?...some of the home support has been a bit flat at times i agree, but considering the dross that has been served up i think it has been fine, the trouble is that some fans like you appear to think mediocrity is acceptable mate..

29 Jan 2015 20:16:10
No ed i'm realistic and don't have my head in the clouds like you and many others on here. I'm afraid the days of us being a big club were over years ago, but some old fans on here still have the belive we are, well we're not! Any season we finish in the top 10 is a good season as we can't expect anything else realistically.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i get that mike, and i tend to not expect high finishes all the time, but you cant be happy with the situation surely mate, do you not think that relegation is a distinct possibility?, or that we are playing boring football?...if you are happy with the state of the club then thats your choice, for me i expect better..

29 Jan 2015 22:00:28
Not a chance we'll get relegated as we have to many good players, plus too many bad other teams below us. And yes I do think the football is a bit boring at the moment but I also understand it's the beginning of a long process to move away from the hoofball style of play for good, so it's not going to happen over night so for that reason I'm willing to put up with it fir now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not a chance you say mike, i remember man utd, forest, leeds and many others say the same thing mate, no one are too good to go down!...

29 Jan 2015 22:40:18
Mike
The issue isn't about the size of the club
It's about the fact we are not progressing as a team anymore
We are capable of playing better than a club who should be happy finishing in the top ten and we have certainly got players who are capable of more than that
We have players who are being courted by some of the more successful clubs for big fees who are massively under performing and i'm sorry to tell you this but the buck stops with RM
The players look lost and consistent performers like Haines and Coleman look a shadow of their former selves
Our set pieces are abysmal and not even practiced
We are playing slow predictable football and signings have been below par to say the least
Now we have unrest on the pitch, the training ground and the dressing room
If you want to view everton as a club who's best days are behind them, then mate, I am unsure as to why you would bother to go to the match!
Are you RM or are you related?
Your argument is completely flawed and i'm not sure what point your making with the "older supporters" bit because no matter what your age, it's obvious to see that standard of football from that standard of player is unacceptable!
My son is 15 and a season ticket holder and he is in a shocking mood after every game he go's to and is now calling for RM head
His record at wigan was 38 wins in 4 seasons!
That is the equivalent of winning every match 1 season and them not winning a game for 3!
I, like many other evertomians would not be happy with a top ten finish every season considering the amount of money we pay just to go and watch them!
I was at swansea in the capital cup along with another 3000 "proper evertonians" and drove a 4/500 mile round trip to stand in the rain and watch the most pathetic display I have ever seen from an everton side in 40 years and heated RM say it was a decent display from his team and he took many positives from it!
The man is a joke!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you pablo..

30 Jan 2015 09:33:02
Pablo, you say that it is "the fact we are not progressing as a team anymore". Well the last 5 years of Moyes reign was 5th, 8th, 7th, 7th and 6th, hardly "progression as a team" and yet I don't remember anyone calling for his head so vociferously. (We are also currently 12th - hardly a huge decline). In fact it is the remnants of those teams that are currently letting us down in the league as no 'progression plan' seems to have been put in place for when they get too old.

And yes the performances have been poor, and yes we should be using the full backs more, attacking at more pace which is in RM control. But you surely can't put too much blame on him for the fact that the entire spine of last season (Howard, Jags, Distin, Barry) have all massively underperformed compared to last season, and another (McCarthy) has been injured for the whole time. That ain't the fault of RM.

Don't get me wrong, I think we have been desperately poor this season but some of the reaction on here has been as if we may as well all pack our bags now for the Championship. Oh and while we're at it we'll probably be like Nottm Forest and Leeds and Southampton and prepare for life in League 1 the season after. All very melodramatic.

And most pathetic in 40 years? I am only in my mid-20s so grew up in the Walter Smith era, narrowly avoiding relegation year on year. This season pales into insignificance compared to that.

Finally, everyone calling for RM head the strongest defence in his favour is that there is no one else out there. Other than Frank de Boer, who else is there? There is a reason Newcastle have delayed naming their head coach until the end of the season - there is no one available. And quite frankly, unless you hire Pulis, changing your manager rarely keeps you up.

I wonder what will be said or what will happen should we lose to Palace and God forbid to the other lot. Platitudes such as 'we played really well and I can see the positives and potential in the team' just will not cut it.

Southern Toffee
That swansea game represented all I feared when RM took charge and yes in 40 yrs it was THE worst display I have ever seen and that includes Walter Smiths reign
Not sure what point you have made here
It is down to RM tactics and football philosophy that the team is under performing on an alarming basis
I did want moyes out and I can honestly say none of his teams played this bad for so long
The reason I wanted Moyes out was due to his inability to get results in the bigger games
I wanted a manager with a more attacking philosophy
It was NEVER going to be RM!
What is more worrying is the attitude of the squad
They look completely lost and misguided and fighting on the training ground? A physio leaving due to conflicting ideas with RM?
The whole Eto'o debacle? The constant excuses and blatant spin?
The lack of team spirit ( Mirrallas Penalty)?
I haven't seen a team below us (Except QPR) who don't look fitter and more organised than us!
MOYES Signed, Baines, Coleman, Stones, Howard, Jags,
They have been pretty consistent for us for a long time but now they look awful
Lets face it they have all knocked a few quid off their value under RM
That is why I say we are NOT progressing as a team
Mcgeady, Kone, Barry, Eto'o, Alcaraz, are ALL RM signings
He can't even play football that accomodates the club record buy ffs! NUFF SAID
I want nothing more than success at Everton but I can honestly say after the next 3 games we could be in a serious relegation battle and that never happened under moyes and I don't think the current squad have the fight that's necessary for a relegation battle
We need change and fast
If we go down I can assure you we will NOT come straight back up!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - some fair points there pablo...nice post mate..

28 Jan 2015 23:07:20
I'm trying to be positive but I can honestly say I really don't think that we are going to win a single game from now till the end of the season. A lot of draws against so called lesser teams but that's it. Even under mike walker we knew, he knew, the board knew and the world knew that everton were really poor hut Roberto is so blind to the fact it scares me stupid!! Surely he must know that his current style isn't working??

No striker signing as kone can replace eto o,

Believable10 Unbelievable4

28 Jan 2015 18:44:06
That's all well and good, but he's not really a replacement is he? Especially since he's been on the books for nearly two years. It's also like swapping an Aston Martin for an Austin metro. Both will run around a bit, but only one will look good doing it.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - good analogy mate..

Big problem is if Kone gets injured again!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant see that happening mate.. :(

28 Jan 2015 23:03:13
I feel like kone will do a fine job once he starts to settle back I but I still think another option in the attacking half of the pitch is necessary. El sharaawy would have been perfect because he can play central and wide but it seems he will at least have to wait for the summer. Still think pato would be a very exciting signing.
