Heard the Straq was nearly in tears when he was asked if he wanted to stay at Everton in an Argentine interview, If Dennis was on a free i would of took him for his work rate and desire

Believable22 Unbelievable5

You can't show sentiment in football it does not work that way, work rate and desire is not enough on it's own im afraid. Mike

Agree1 Disagree0

His commitment is unquestionable!... but he lacks the technique, to play in the premier league

Agree1 Disagree0

His work rate was excellent ..pity drenthe didn,t keep his big gob shut and knuckled down to business cuz another season under moyes we wud av seen a much better player.. a good talent wasted because of his gob .. {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on lad straq was the worst centre forward we have ever had! He gave us nothing!

Agree1 Disagree1

I liked him but his touch wasn't quite good enough for where we're aiming to be - liked the guy though

Agree0 Disagree0

If Straq played like he did against city every week i def have him back!

Agree1 Disagree1

Agreed, loved 'im

Agree1 Disagree1

Straq would have improved a lot if we had him another year had a decent run for a while and that performance against city...WOW! {Ed025's Note - poor mans duncan ferguson for me..

Agree1 Disagree1

People with short memories forget other players who came to the Prem and had a slow start in their first season, The Count didnt even get many chances, we made a mistake in letting him go, and he would have improved with time spent playing. You dont score all those goals in Argentina if your no good, expect someone to profit from our loss. Good luck Denis you gave us everything when you were allowed to play

Agree1 Disagree1

We got to 4th with Marcus bent working hard up top. Should of signed him, remember everyone singing his name at Chelsea game. Get him on a free

Agree1 Disagree1

He would have cost us money and as much as I liked his worth ethic and desire, I'm glad we're not paying for him.

Steve EFC

Agree1 Disagree1

Would love to see him back his passion for us was amazing ok not the best player but never stopped running and tackling and when he scored hed always nearly break out crying he has the everton bug bring straq back

Agree1 Disagree1

I would love him back then we have our extra striker and he would be no more than 1 mill {Ed025's Note - i dont think hes good enough personally..

Agree1 Disagree1

I dont think big vic is good enough but we've been carrying his lazy arse long enough...

scoober C

Agree1 Disagree0

Forget about the money, we simply don't need another midfielder, not worth buying when we have at least 6 players who play centre midfield

Everton and Galatasary to be sued by the Indonesian organizers after they withdrew from the club. This is what Everton don't need at the moment.

Believable11 Unbelievable16

Yeah that's what they are saying, but reason why they withdrew is for Fear of safety reasons, and not being paid the money that was offered before had,
so before you all jump on BK's back like you will,
1, would you rather have the players go there and risk being Hurt, food poising and even kidknaped
or 2, stay here and work on fitness and other things,
i no what i would chose

y0rksh1re_blue {Ed025's Note - me too mate..

Agree0 Disagree1

The OP doesn't actually have any sort of go at Kenwright or the club. Obviously no fan, regardless of how they think the club is being run, wants to endanger anyone else. Seems a fairly pointless reaction to this post to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly, I didn't have a go at Kenwright through my post did I, your the one jumping to conclusions thinking that whenever somebody has an issue with the club, or in my case simply putting a post to inform other Evertonian's of the matter, that they are instantly jumping on the anti-Kenwright wagon.

Agree1 Disagree0

If there's a risk of food poisoning or kidknapping then why did we enter in the first place?

Agree1 Disagree1

I never said anything about the OP,
i was stating that before people jump on the club or BK, to think why it was cancelled,
Players safety and NOT getting the money they was promised before going out there.

y0rksh1re_blure

They can sue us all they want we've got no money

A spokesman for the organisers of Indonesia's Java Cup have held a press conference in which he has stated that they will be suing Everton for their withdrawal from the competition. The spokesman has also stated he will asking the FA to impose sanctions on Everton.

Popeye

Believable13 Unbelievable10

Is there any good news concerning our club? {Ed025's Note - yes..were not going to indonesia, ..

Agree1 Disagree0

Ha, you had me all the way to the part you mentioned " a spokesman for the organisers of the Indonesia's Java Cup...." - organisers - hmmm (sorry Ed)

Hong Kong Bluey

Agree1 Disagree0

Nice one ed...Just seen Leighton Baines in Formby Village, was dying to ask him 20 questions

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Hong Kong Bluey but as you may now see from other posts I was passing on news I had seen to other blues fans.

Popeye

Agree0 Disagree0

They can say what they like, at the end of the day if money was promised up front and it is not there, advanced ticket sales did not take place as promised and security arrangements not up to spec. it is simple breach of contract on their part.

They can throw all the hissy fits they like nothing will come of it. And on a personal note I am happy the club had the good sense to call it off if there is the slightest doubt in their minds.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree1

I would say that our sponsors will be suing them, as there organisation of this event was crap.( its not rocket science surely ). . everton fans that have gone are gonna be compensated altho they also av grounds to sue the organisers too....

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not the first time though is it, clearly nothing was learned from the Ghana fiasco a few seasons ago.
Sorry but the buck stops with the Board of Directors. I'm hearing some very worrying rumours about Moyes being livid and if the Board do not back him he's gone.

Michael Owen will be siging for Everton.
It will be announced by Monday. He trains at finch farm, pay as you play deal with bonus add ons for goals.

Believable11 Unbelievable33

Its a no brainer on those terms. Appears we've got very little money and I shudder to think what we'd do if Jelly got injured. PS tenner on top 6!

Agree1 Disagree0

Lets get him in I don't care who his played for once he pulls on the shirt and fires a few in

Agree1 Disagree0

He'd soon win the blues over with a goal against the s***e....

Agree0 Disagree1

Pay as you play I am less stressed, but as long as making this signing doesnt limit others

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes has publicly pulled out of that signing

Agree0 Disagree0

That works for me, I'm not his biggest fan for sure, but it is a no lose situation for us, and the lad does have a point to prove to a lot of people.

WtG.

Agree1 Disagree0

Havent we had our fingers burnt once before with the pay as you play louis saha?one good game then out for a month with a ripped sock

Agree1 Disagree0

Out for A month means no pay for a month...hence pay as you play? as i have said before you might get one chance in last 10-15mins...I'd rather bring Owen on than Anichebe!

hey ed001 can i have a mini report on what's going on with Steven Pienaar i'm doubting a tiny bit now

paddock toffee {Ed001's Note - it is simply just a matter of brinksmanship at the moment. Spurs want more money, Everton either can't or won't give them that. Spurs have made it known other clubs are interested, in order to try and get Everton to up their offer. I am not sure Everton can afford to up their offer as things stand though. I am still confident the deal will go through, he wants the move, Everton want him and Spurs are happy to sell him. It makes sense for all parties to come to a compromise, probably involving him handing in a written transfer request.}

Believable12 Unbelievable2

So he wanted to leave everton, now he wants to leave his new club. How long until he wants to leave us again and we have sell for a couple of million less than we pay? pass imho

What gets me, Heiting £5m, Baines £8m, two quality prime players, yet spurs want £5m for a 30+ player who I reckon would only suit the everton way of play!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Ed 001 its simple mate, even if Spurs want more and are touting other clubs the final say is down to Pienaar, if he says he wants to come to Everton only or he is staying at Spuds on 60k then he goes to Everton, it is really that simple.

They do not want him

Great site by the way mate

Hey ed I've been away for a couple of days so just after some answers from you if that's ok? Firstly why all the sudden doubt in the pienaar deal!? Last time I checked moyes was confident of getting it done! What's happened? And do you still see us signing him? {Ed001's Note - there is just a difference in the fee, Spurs are pointing to other clubs' interest as a reason Everton need to pay a decent fee (hence all the rumours regarding QPR and Sunderland being interested in him). Everton are relying on the fact that Pienaar only wants to go back to reduce the price. It is just a negotiation, one which I expect to be completed with Pienaar returning to Everton before the window shuts.}

hey guys got this off soccernet:

According to the Express, Johnny Heitinga could be on his way from Everton to Fenerbahce for £5 million. United States defender Geoff Cameron, 27, who plays for Houston Dynamos, might be on his way to Goodison.

Believable5 Unbelievable19

Would prefer johnny, who, if we're completely honest, is probably staying

Agree0 Disagree0

Besides being a load of rubbish (the report that is), I'd be amazed if EFC ever had anything to do with Fener after the Yobo fiasco.
They can't be trusted imo.

MacT

Agree0 Disagree1

Heitinga is better than Jags on his best day, but Jags & Distin are more consistent, and Johnny is always likely to head off when he feels like it. 5 Mn in and a far cheaper purchase of Cameron helps with areas we have less quality (RM, RB, cover for Jela)

Just heard a rumour we've asked to borrow money from portsmouth and rangers cos they've got bigger transfer kitties than us, we are becoming a laughing stock, I'm a very fed up blue right now

Believable20 Unbelievable12

Jeez, I wish everyone would calm down. None of us know what is happening, and it is foolish to believe everything you read or hear in the media. Get a grip, its not the end of the world - and I don't just mean this poster, there are loads of doom-mongers on trhis forum right now.

Bluewal. {Ed025's Note - there are a lot of frustrated blues out there al... what started out very promising, seems to be taking a turn for the worse, its not panic time yet, but we could do with a bit of good news just to lift the spirits...and to give the samaritans a blow..

Agree1 Disagree0

Short memories...

We are a club outside the top four/five big clubs (yes, yes, I know it wasnt always like that... but this management took over relegation fodder, so what happened before that is irrelevant), to hold onto players with serious ambitions, you pay over the odds on wages to keep the squad togther. Then, when the club outgrows their effectiveness, then it becomes very difficult to offload these highly paid players. Bottom line, nobody wants to pay top dollar wages for a player who is out of form/league has passed him by. So the benefit becomes week by week wage savings not lump sum transfer fees. Which means you have to wait to accumulate funds for transfers rather than having chunks up front to splurge with... as how does one spend money they dont have right now? Oh thats right... borrow more!!

I would also take Evertonians back 9-12 months when Johnny Heitinga couldnt keep his mouth shut about moving to a bigger club. Evertonians were calling for his head and now after a good year the same fans believe the world would end if he wasnt around.

Bottom line... adjust your expectations to start off with. It isnt the 80s anymore. The mgt have build a successful team on chump change & then invested heavily (probably overpaid) in retaining talent by increasing wages in the past 4-5 years. Those players are now ageing and hard to get off the payroll without sacrficing some up-front funds.

We will get Pienaar in, with any remaining transfers hinging on Yobo coming off the books. Outside of this, I cant see us missing a loan or two like always. Worst case scenario we use our Barkley's and Vellios' coming through like everyone keeps begging for...

Agree1 Disagree0

Stated somethin along the same lines last week an was called a kopite.
it's gettin beyond a joke now. were sick to death of false hope year in year out.
we sold yakubu 1.5m, beckford 4m, arteta 10m an bily 4/5m last season an bought jelavic 5.5m an gibson 0.5m.
thats at minimum 13.5 profit maybe more an there tryin to say we need the 2m off the yobo deal to sign pienaar.
an thats just last season, its bin happenin for years.
but its ok coz bill kenwright is a massive blue. . we need to wake up an smell the coffee.
while thyis man remains in charge of our club nothins gonna change...... tony f efc....

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the so called doom monger out there are being realistic. We are literally living hand to mouth. What an unattractive proposition that is for a club of our stature. I've never known a preseason tour to be cancelled. The deafening silence from the club about what direction we are heading as there seems to be the inevitable exodus of players. And one prized person presiding over our fictitious sale.
It's NOW time for change my blue brothers and sisters. We need to oust this Keystone Cops regime before its TOO LATE!

Agree1 Disagree0

We have the best manager in the league, a great squad and we havent sold anyone and the reason rangers and portsmouth are also rans for the future is because they listened to the likes of you and spent money they did not have. You may be a fan but you have NO idea how a business runs, I am currently a very happy blue coz I SUPPORT a great club and dont run them down

Agree1 Disagree0

Get your £200m into the kitty then if it's such a mess. Haven't got it? Neither has Bill, so get off his back

Agree0 Disagree0

It's funny that the echo website has an exclusive saying pienaar deal to be tied up by the end on the week, ain't it funny how the no interest from the mainstream media in that story and the only stuff that gets major attention is the negative comments. And eds please keep the kopites off this site!

Heitinga is going nowhere he declare his effection for the club and pledged his future to us at the end of the season funny how that's ignored?! There's an agenda against everton in the media that should be challangef by the fans and club alik {Ed001's Note - if you want to go on an Everton fan only website, there are plenty of them around. This is a site to discuss Everton, not for Everton fans.}

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the best and most positive pre season I can remember for a long time.I would rather keep heitinger but it's not the first time he's looked elsewhere. Tim Cahill has been a great team player for us but has been a little past his prime and his transfer will represent wage savings, some funds for us and a well deserved swansong for him. Once again I trust Moysie to be equal to this.As long as we get a good start this season we will improve on last year's position and, with today's major successes always seeming to rely on huge cash investment, realistically we should regard this as a great achievement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here! Here!

Agree1 Disagree1

People stop going on about Arteta money the money it went on wage increases to team/squad & bank this is sensible giving no investment from within of any note. So please stop asking were the money has gone look at the accounts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Living near Pompey and seeing what their supporters are going through at the moment. Be thankful for what we have got, there is no likelihood of padlock and chains on Goodison at the moment, unless there is a miracle that is what will happen to Fratton Park in two weeks timely , no use throwing what little money we have about and then going tits up. Maybe we should look at ticket prices at Goodison. Bloke next to me going to watch Southampton at Eastlands price £49 or £51 each. What is out top seat cost £42? so straight away Man City make about £400K per match more than we do, look around and see what our so called rivals all charge. No wonder we cant compete. Of course if Everton were to announce such a thing as a £5 increase across the board, cue Blue Union and protests against the robbing board. Regretfully if we want to compete against the best we may be forced to pay for the privilege.
PS it may have been a little bit more successful in our recent forays into Europe

Agree1 Disagree1

I think everyone is a bit down over Tim. A lot of us didnt expect it to happen, he will really be missed. Do you think he could play in hibbos testemonial as a goodbye ed? {Ed025's Note - i hope so..its the perfect opportunity to say goodbye..

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed, do you not think that we could just do with some news, full stop? All blues know that the transfer window is a frustrating time, and if you talk with fans other clubs and/or look at other boards and forums we genuinely are seen as a bit of a joke, financially speaking. I know that there are people at the club who are working their hardest to look out for us, and I don't expect them to be able to wave some magic wand and for money to appear, but it would be nice if they could just do us the decency of speaking to us. As you say, it's not panic stations yet, but it's all starting to feel worryingly familiar. {Ed025's Note - good post that mate...and a bit of transparency from the club, would be welcomed..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he has a point over the doom and gloom mongerers, they really don't have any credible information. I'm also annoyed with the eds (I hope you post this) because you post all the nonsense from the kopites who don't even deny it anymore that they post wind ups and lies.

Get a grip blues and even if we had to field a youth side in the prem then that team should get unreserved support non of this moaning. It's not all about transfers!

Agree1 Disagree0

And what regime are you going to replace this board with? Gillett and Hicks? Randy Lerner? Or one of the numerous all mouth and no money "billionaires" That seem to have taken over so many clubs? Someone who will come in and get rid of Moyes then try replace him with an "Iconic" new boss of such top quality as Mick McCarthy? Only to be told to shove it?

FFS people, there are not that many Abramovich's or Sheikh Mansour's out there. Give credit where it is due, what have this board done for Everton FC?

For a start they got rid of the master of mediocrity and got us a manager who has taken us forward, turn us from relegation fodder into top six contenders and managed our debts (A lot they inherited from dear Mr Johnson) So they are at manageable levels and our club is not in danger of doing a Rangers or Portsmouth.

Okay so their PR skills could be better sure, and yes I too would like to see us in the Champions League year in year out, but not by running up so much debt that one year we finish fifth and end up in free fall, remember Leeds?

WtG. {Ed025's Note - cracker of a post wtg...agree with it all mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Tony EFC is spot on with what he is saying. The truth is that a business that works at an operating loss of £5m every year (not inc transfers) seriously needs to get rid of the t***s at the top in boardroom

Papers today/tomorrow depending when u read this are reporting Johnny is off to Fenerbache for 5m. looks like the pienaar deal might be on the back burner at the minute. Not sure what is going on but at the minute looks like Cahill is going, Yobo looks like going and now Hietinga is off and no one os coming in. Starting to sound like a normal pre -season really

Believable10 Unbelievable7

Your assuming this is going to happen , moyes won't let us down still plenty of time

Agree1 Disagree0

Well maybe if it so normal, we should trust that we will have a normal positive season.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not Moyes you need to worry about, it's the chairman and his fellow directors who are the problem. Short arms and deep pockets.

Agree0 Disagree0

£8m in overall and then Pienaar in and 1 or 2 others on frees due to amount of salary being saved. Be Patient!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why oh why would be sell him for only £5m!!

Agree0 Disagree0

So Johnny Heitinga could well be on the way out, but before all the doom merchants kick off about us having to sell stars etc. Heitinga is going into the last year of his contract, we have to assume that DM would have offered him a new contract?

If we can not agree one then it is good business by DM and the Board to sell him now for around what we paid for him, rather than risk losing him for silly money in January or even on a free this time next year.

The Express and Mail are both reporting that DM has Geoff Cameron from Houston Dynamos lined up as a replacement for around £1.7 million. Such a move would also put whatever is left over into the transfer kitty we assume.

WtG.

Agree1 Disagree0

Would Cameron get a work permit?

27 and hardly played a game for thee US team

Agree1 Disagree1

Its much easier to assume that people that have made millions in business are so inept that they cannot buy and sell assets for value & sustainability. Much harder to understand the entire detail and make decisions with your own hand in your pocket.
