Cliftonville have confirmed that Everton's bid to sign Rory Donnelly is 'considerably higher' than Swansea City's offer for the striker.

Swansea agreed a fee, believed to be in the region of £100,000, for Donnelly last week and the teenager has visited the Premier League club in recent days.

However, Everton and Liverpool are also interested in the 19-year-old and Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Cliftonville have backtracked on their agreement.

The Northern Irish club's chairman Gerard Lawlor says he is protecting his team's interests after accepting the offer from Everton.Lawlor said: "Everton's bid is considerably higher than Swansea's. There is a major difference in the bids. They are miles apart.

"My job is to do the best thing for Cliftonville. It's not all about money, it's a great opportunity for Rory."

Cliftonville manager Tommy Breslin is expecting a transfer to be finalised before the club face Crusaders on Boxing Day.

Breslin said: "Rory said that he was impressed by Swansea and by what Brendan Rodgers had to say.

"He said the facilities were good and that there was a great team spirit with no egos. The Northern Irish link with Brendan probably helped too.

"We expect the deal to be completed. We've got a fixture on Boxing Day and I'm planning for it without Rory.

"It will be a massive step for Rory but he will benefit from the full-time training. It's certainly a big chance for him."

Would love to see jelovic in January. Even
though he won't be cheap, maybe we could
get half a million discount from the Ball transfer
Rangers said they couldn't give us. What you think Ed?

Billy has made his feelings & intentions very clear, so why the hell is he in the frame for the holiday games. If he was not up for a scrap for points before, cannot see him giveing 100 % and risking getting an injury that might stop his planned move !

Believable17 Unbelievable5

Why is he in the frame for the games anyway? worst everton number 7 for years

Agree0 Disagree0

So long billy you've had enough and fair is fair you had moments of magic for us to far and between granted! i think its time for you to go and in league where u have time and space you will brevail but the E.P.L is a different class. Would of liked to see you get a role more central but that is a possition we have good youth coming through good luck anyways ruskie!

Agree0 Disagree0

Every1 gives bily s**t, fair enough yeah! werent giving him s**t against man u or wolves were he scored , all i heard is bily this bily that is rong! hes a good player wrong league end ov its out of order, if he was giving a chance in the right position he'll do the job! am sick off you wools givin him s**t before he even has a touch so sort it out.... ed am i right or what?? {Ed001's Note - why does it have to be wools if they don't like a player? It tends to be younger fans that have less patience overall.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest hes done nothing since we got him cum with a good reputation didnt live up to it let him go

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you ever found a new job the had to work your notice at the old one? You don't just stop working because you plan to move on! Besides, transfer deals are not done until they are done, he may end up staying yet.

Everton midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov has indicated that he is prepared to leave the club next month to get first team football so he has a better chance of making the Russian squad for Euro 2012.
''If the transfer window closes and I still find myself sitting on the Everton bench, I could not justify it'' he said to the Sun
Atleast we have a bit of good news, not only will we get rid of Bilyaletdinov, but we should also have a bit of extra money for transfers.
This is on the SkySports website btw.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buyers attracted to City because of their stadium. Luddite supporters didn't want to let Everton leave Goodison, which is a huge millstone round the club's neck.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blue Bill Fu**ed up on Kings Dock. We would have had a world class stadium right in the heart of a world Heritage City.
So he gives all that up for a cow shed in Kirby, get real...

I would just like to say :-
There is a lot of takeover rumours on here which is always exciting to read. There are probably several willing buyers for our club, all with their billions ready to takeover and invest in the club to move us forward. We could have all the buyers in the world but it doesn't matter, when we don't have ONE seller. Kenwright, time to let go son!

Now I am not a Kenwright fan, sooner he goes the better. But I really dont think it is an issue of Kenwright doesnt want to let go. I mean, the man is getting death threats to himself and his family, do you think he enjoys receiving that sort of mail?

Yes, the price is a major issue, but he doesnt single handedly control the price of the club, the likes of Green and Earl I would imagine have a say as well, and of course, they couldnt give a s**t about what happens to the club.

I beleive he wants to sell the club, but he wants to secure the clubs future, do you want to end up like a Pompey, Leeds or even Blakcburn?

Again, I am not the biggest Kenwright fan, but the man is getting an intense amount of hatred whilst the likes of Green and Earl are walking away scot free, they should shoulder the blame, because they are part owners of the club and have a s**tload of money but again they couldnt give a s**t what happens to Everton. {Ed025's Note - i agree with you mate...just because his name is on the head of the paper, does not mean he is the only culprit!...they are all as thick as thieves..

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said mate. To be honest I have been part of the 'blame BK' squad but they all have a part to play.

They are making it very difficult for anyone to buy the club because I don't believe they want new owners. Just investors to bankroll them !

Unfortunately I don't think we will have new owners anytime soon as they don't want to let go !

Surely its not difficult to sell a premiership club that consistently finishes in the top half of the league and is pushing for Europe every year. The stadium is a problem, but not one that can't be sorted out ! ETID

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellow blues beware of what you wish for. I believe Kenwright when he says we have had "interested parties" who then run a mile when he asks them to show the colour of their money. eg Look what is happening and Blackburn. Indians/Asians are known for their frugal ways of running business. Would you like Blackburn's owners? Look at the Reds**te and their previous two owners who almost bankrupt them....they escaped by the skin of their teeth. Due to some Mickey Mouse contract clause. All I am saying is a bloke who doesn't miss a home game for 20 years has some love for the club and would only want the best. Be patient because something will happen and we will go forwards....but it's better the devil you know for now until we are sure we have the right "investment". I am sure Blue Bill could sell now to someone who would be in exactly the same situation he is in, ie borrowing from the banks. Surely we don't want that. At least BB is a Blue through and through. How about Peter Risdale? He has just about ruined every club he has been at? Anyway, as a Blue I am ever optimistic that something will happen and when it does we will all be happy (for a while). Merry Christmas to all fellow Blues!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish evertonians realised how lucky they are to have a chairmen who is a bigger fan than them..sure we want to have money and by god bk is trying,as the above comment said many clubs have been taken over and in worse problems..if you want to blame anybody blame Liverpool corrupt council who moved the goalposts over kings dock and Stanley park green area fiasco
