Ok to try and put a realistic view on it some facts: World Cup Final is 15th July. The transfer window closes early this season on August 9th. That is just over 3 weeks. Although we may sign players from teams knocked out, it is unlikely that we will be signing players still involved until after 16th July. In fact any negotiations with players are likely to start on or after 16th July. That leaves 23 days to make signings. I expect that is when Everton will start things really moving and why I have posted previous posts. Remember that other teams might also be waiting to see if they can get certain players in the same way as we are, so the first few days after the world cup is likely to be a scramble with players having a few choices of clubs. Some in Europe and some not. That's when I expect us to start making announcements. probably around 20th July and onwards.

Nothing to stop clubs granting permission before agents thrashing out the initial part of negotiations and then some teams will probably allow discussions on rest days whereas others may not
Just have to see what can be done.

There's also plenty of good players who are not at the world cup for us to look at too. Probably best to hold on for a bumpy ride until the window closes.

It's worth noting that 16 teams can do business from the 28th June. 8 more on the 3rd July. 4 more on the 7th July and 2 more on the 14th July.
We can also buy an English player after the final.

Very droll smit. We actually look good so far while big teams struggle. Who know how far we can go.
Also fred has just completed his move to man Utd so we can sign players who are active at world cup. Seatbelts on for roller coaster couple of months.

I wonder if ED002 can help with a question that relates to some of my banter posts. I don't wish to appear a know it all, but some posters on here have been talking about getting rid of 11 or 12 players and signing of many players. I did a couple of posts saying that it would be highly unlikely that we offloaded more than 2 or 3 senior players due to lucrative contracts and players unwillingness to take salary reductions. Added to which, after the world cup there is less than 2 weeks to tie up deals with the transfer window closing 2 days earlier this year. My question to Ed is, "Do you know if there are any senior players likely to leave and are there any players in current discussion with Everton at an advanced stage? " and I think I can guess the answuer to part 2 of my question.

{Ed002's Note - This lust of players that are available is the same as I gave acouple of days or so ago. You are right about the mine, as the club will be paying up to $75k for Rooney and £xM for having three managers on the books still.}

Sorry didn't see your other post Ed002. Wow we are still paying Rooney that much? And 2 previous manager salaries! Plus which players would be happy to take a step down and a salary reduction? I think Everton have had too much turnover of staff in recent years and tied themselves up in contracts galore! I will have a look for your previous post. Suffice it to say, I expect little change in the staff at Everton.

You don’t get to be a billionaire by making daft business decisions. If Moshiri has made mistakes, he’ll have learnt from them. Give the new set up a chance. Some players will leave. Even if we are paying a percentage of their wage, it still reduces the overall wage bill. Rushing into signings is what got us into trouble last season.

but the 75k I take will only be for one year? As it makes no sense to pay that amount for the 3 years reported as it would cost us less to keep him for 1 year on his full salary.

Morgan Schneiderlin now appears to be surplus to requirements and may be off to Marseille according to reports on BBC football gossip page.

He is one of the few players we could actually sell for a reasonable amount.
