HI ed just a question on our ground, when the park stand was built were the footings put in place to put an upper tier in at a later date.could this be an option to increase our capacity and if this was done could we then work with the council to redevelope the rest of the ground.

Blue Daz {Ed025's Note - i dont know daz sorry..

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I don't know the answer, but I do know it was disscussed before it was built, plus if the rubbish can develop their ground, why the hell should we not be allowed the same option?

Agree0 Disagree0

I was under the impression that the foundations were laid to allow a second tier.
Of course the council would find some way of stopping us. Every time we tried to improve Goodison in the days of John Moores the council knocked us back, yet whenever the have wanted to do something the council have rolled over for their belly to be tickled, (including evicting two old ladies from their house in Kremlyn Road).
By the way for the writer the other day who demanded we knock down the club church. The church does not belong to Everton, however when John Moores was chairman we did offer to demolish it and rebuild brick by brick at another site, I do believe in Spellow Lane> The Church refused to move.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was designed so we coulod retract it to very edge off walton lane as and when we developed, Peter Johnson applied for planning all those yrs back and LCC fkd them off, the council have a lot to answer for. PJ also applied for stanley park was that was rejected out of hand, the RS asked and got it. just like Kirkby like it or hate it, they do not want EFC to succeed.
check it out if you don't believe it

I have long thought about how we could somehow increase capacity at the park end including how we could maybe use the carpark beyond to build a bigger stand at that end. I suppose this issue also is lost revenue with parts if the ground closed for rebuilding and also the need to rebuild the other stands. It would be great to have a lovely big stand that end but we need to do something about the ageing Glawdys St and Bullens Road. If we could afford it wld be great to somehow move the pitch that way and increase the size of those stands in the process. Would cost a lot.

Agree0 Disagree1

I was told back when it was build that a second tier was the idea and that all the bits are in storage somewhere in the Wallasey Tunnel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would you invest money in redevoloping an old outdated stadium if it made sense to do it would of been done by now new ground is a top priorty for our future if we're to compete

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty sure the board at the time opted for the cheaper option in the end and the foundations wouldn't take another tier.

Agree0 Disagree0

We can't build on it because we don't own the land behind the park end bill sold it and rents it back that's why the kit bag buisness didn't happen there

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we till own the land but have used it as security on bank loans.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at a q & a session held at the peoples club inside goodison and that question was put to Alan Myers. He said that whilst there has always been an option to try and modify the park end to increase the capacity it would not be deemed financially viable. He said that the club are constantly in talks with Liverpool council over new sites but the major stumbling block is obviously finance. He did say that leaving goodison is not as easy as it seems and Graeme Sharp picked up on this by stating that he would rather we stayed at goodison. A question was also asked about modifying the ground to compensate for disabled and elderly fans but the club would need to look into it further, top night and a top bloke Alan

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumour has it that the Park End struggles to get a safety certificate because its a proverbial "castle built on sand".
It was built on the cheap and is already crumbling.

Agree0 Disagree0

To redevelop Goodison would be a waste of money. We need a stadium to be able to offer a lot more corporately and have other uses like music, maybe cinema complex and eateries/pubs. We seriously need to build a new stadium and move with the times if we want to compete with the big boys and unfortunatley at present we are run by people with no money
Cheeks

Agree0 Disagree0

No money? I think it's a lack of will.

There's certainly a lack of something {Ed025's Note - yeah..dosh!..

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2013 00:05:52
The problem is of course money, if we had plenty we could buy a new stadium or if we had plenty I am sure we could redevelop. If there is enough money yo can do anything. We dream of top 4 again, do you think that if we actually broke in a cash rich buyer that suits us would appear? I still believe Goodison can be redeveloped.

Everton looking at Anderson from Utd! Could be an alright shout! What u reckon everyone?

Rich84 {Ed025's Note - i rate him rich, but who would he replace?..

Believable4 Unbelievable16

Could do an exchange deal with ossie, provided they throw in a decent fee as well!

Agree1 Disagree0

Good player and given the chance to play under RM with his philosophy of go and express yourself could be a good buy. But as Ed points out who is he going to replace in the starting 11?

It's good to have depth in the squad sure but RM already seems to have some nice headaches as who gets to start already, if we over do it then the kids are not going to get any chances to play in the first team and develop, which really I think we need.

Lets face it, for the foreseeable future we are not going to be in a position to buy our way to a title or a Champions League spot, to get there we are going to have to turn the raw talent of the some of the youngsters we have into established players. The only way that is going to happen is if we give them first team experience.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ossie is cracking on a bit Ed so would be a replacement for him possibly. He is a bit of a fatty though Ed, do you rate him because I am unsure to be honest?
Cheeks {Ed025's Note - i do cheeks, but we are very strong in midfield at the moment mate, and i dont know exactly where he would fit in..

Agree0 Disagree0

He will only come here provided the filth get barkley. No thanks you can keep him

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Sep 2013 00:52:42
ed do you think barkley will leave within the next 2 years or so?, I know him personally actually, my sister used to baby sit him and I see him in the park on a regular basis, I've played football with him and I live around the corner from him, not saying i'm in the know but i'm being honest and he strikes me as a loyal lad who just loves his club and isn't in it for the money like shrek was, he will be special and it is vital we keep him, him and wilshere have got to be the best english talents in the prem at the moment

Mike-Ox Long {Ed025's Note - im not sure ox, obviously i would like to think so, but you never know what happens...if we were to be unsuccessful over the next couple of years, im sure his advisors would be pushing for him to move on..

Believable6 Unbelievable3

18 Sep 2013 08:22:31
Sorry to be a doom monger Ed and Ox but if he turns out like we all expect him too then he will be gone in a flash, money talks and you couldn't blame the lad if he did go to better himself. I would be off in a blink of the eye if someone doubled or trebled my wages.

The only way we could keep him (if he does turn out a beauty) is for a billionaire to buy us, sorry for the bluntness but deep down we all know we don't have a prayer of keeping him or any other wonderkid we bring through, maybe if the rich guys on our board gave instead of taking then we could keep our stars.

I sound a bit like Mike there, must be marriage kills the happiness

Agree0 Disagree0

Degsy is probably correct on this. His advisors are going to try to get him to move on. It’s how they make their money. Let’s hope he finds an agent that has his clients best interests at heart not his own. If I loved a club and was happy there I would stay there unless there was a compelling event that forced me to move and I am not talking money. IMO Football is no longer a passion just a profession for most players. If they just happen to be good at their jobs they can command ridiculous wages and if they are not that bothered about the game would be quite happy to sit on a bench to collect their cash.
Just look at all the English talent that is bought by a so called “top clubs” that play in the champions league only to sit on the bench and ruin the best part of their career for a bit of cash. Does the player actually benefit from the move probably not. Unless of course he is not actually bothered about playing, then it makes great financial sense.
It’s not about the money it’s about the greed. Greedy owners, greedy agents and unfortunately, greedy players.
You never know Barclay may turn out to be the exception to the rule a player that bucks the trend and doesn't just jump on the gravy train at the first opportunity.

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines didn't either, SA90.

Look Ross is good let's enjoy him while we can, let his feet have defenders in a trance, let's watch him meg time an time again. if he moves on to better himself wish him all the best, if he sticks knife in then we can scorn him

Agree0 Disagree0

Third poster spot on, let's enjoy the lad whilst we have him, none of us are stupid and we all know deep down that 99.9999% of players are in it mainly for the money, obviously Baines is in the small minority and the guy is a legend to us all. If Ross becomes an outstanding talent then he will be off and none of us should blame the lad for anything, just enjoy what we have

It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be inclined to agree with Degsy and SA90 on this one. Nowadays it is the greedy agents who seem to make the decisions and there are plenty of English prospects out there who have paid the price for their agents advised move to the "big time."

However, that said I only see what most of us do with Ross, a great talented youngster, that the vultures will be circling around very shortly. I truly hope Ox is right in his view of the lad, in which case now is the time to offer him a long term big contract, building the team for the future to ensure we are successful in the years ahead with Ross at the heart of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Baines is a good example of the exception let's hope more of our young talent follow it.

I think as a football club we have lived and learnt especially with the Rooney saga. The lad in many ways can be likened to Rooney but don't forget it was Rooney and his "advisors" that wanted to see our books, which is unacceptable. Ross will be a legend for us no doubt but my gut tells me he's want to achieve something with everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross will never leave Uncle Bill & Rob after we win Premier 2 years from now . Once A Blue . Never A Red

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he will stay with us for a few seasons yet, he's still developing whereas Rooney was virtually the finished article by 18. You can see he's still raw due to missing a year or more experience with his injury.

If he fulfils his potential and turns into the player we think he could be, then someone will be breaking Bales world record fee to get him. So I agree with the guys saying let's enjoy him while we have him and if he goes in a few seasons then he'll likely clear our total in debt in the process- so happy days all round!

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he asked moyes to leave because he wasnt in the side martinez is giving what he wants to show his talent, isuspect unless we get money he, ll be off with chelsea the most likely its sad if he goes .tom efc
