Steff bailey looks to be a very talented young prospect and has bags of flair and pace think he would be a good addition if we could get him bailey recently rejected a move to Chelsea so he could be guaranteed game time at Genk which is refreshing in today's game but if we go for him hopefully with us giving are younger players a chance he might see us as an attractive option if do go for him.

Cheers Duke thanks for the info mate.

Perhaps Koeman sees something in Del Boy.

Part of me has though that, if a move doesn't materialise, maybe it will scare him into putting a bit more work in to increase his fitness levels. If he could last 90 minutes i think he could easily be a really good player

Depay joins Lyon 21 mill, hope we make a statement of intent as to our direction, 1 good result dosnt make us the team we want to be, and the back room rumours don't make good reading

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - A "statement of intent" to whom? And what would this "statement of intent" mean - are you expecting clubs to be concerned?}

18 Jan 2017 19:37:41
Reports state there was a buy back clause for Utd.
Is there any wonder we dropped out

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they dont want him back lance, thats why they insisted on cash and not a loan to buy mate..

18 Jan 2017 19:39:47
Just because we have a few bob doesn't mean we have a bottomless pit of money, still have to be smart with the money, maybe we have better options for half the price. I've spoken to a United fan who thinks he's crap so not overly worried about this one.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - me neither gibbo..

18 Jan 2017 23:26:01
They have put all kinds of clauses in the move if he becomes the player they thought he was going to be they can buy him back now wonder we ran a mile I am happy we got Schniederlin he's a good player there's better out there than Depay not a great loss if I am honest.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jan 2017 05:29:34
A statement of intent would be winning football games not signing players for large sums of money more than they are worth or we can afford.

Depay isn't the answer in my opinion.

19 Jan 2017 07:19:53
I'm not sure what fans would expect as a statement of intent. I'm very happy with where we are heading, got a young talent in got a proven mid in. I would keep robles as 10 clean sheets in 21 games is a superb stat.

we have a decent defence with Holgate coming through so let's see where that goes and we have young Davies coming through in mid along with gueye back next month and macarthy back from injury we should be fine. we have lots of wingers so that's fine.

the only position he looks like wanting to strengthen is up front, if he does, great, if not I will support Valencia. it's looking good the key work now is consistency.

What's our real chances of a big bid for kostas monolas as there has been talk about him for a few year now?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you dont think it could be the £47m that roma are asking do you joss mate?..

18 Jan 2017 18:21:17
Not quite that high mate but he's a cheaper option compared to the saints valuation of d. v. dijk

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 19:03:17
Ey players don't come cheap, can get Joey Barton for about £10 But do we want him Noooooooooo, get Usnanov in and through the book at it

Hi Ed, keep reading about we're interested in Franck Kessie and Leon Baily 2 very highly rated young lads. Can you confirm any real interest? One last thing Ed do you believe we will make a January signing which will make a real statement of intent? Coyb

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach for Kessie from Everton and I would think, given other interested sides, that the chances of a move would be near zip. The asking price is very high indeed and the summer seems a more likely time for a move.

Genk's Leon Bailey is continuing to attract the attention of a number of sides, particularly those from England who would like a deal before the opportunity for him become home grown disappear. He has previously opted to turn down Chelsea for Genk where he knew opportunities would be better. Newcastle, Ajax, Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Napoli have all watched him recently and Napoli have had a couple of discussions with Genk with one of his representatives available. Efforts are being made by a sports agency to ease out the representatives he has now. Right now he is not ready for the EPL, so a loan would be likely if he were to move to England but I don't see any chance of a January move.}

18 Jan 2017 16:42:00
Thanks once again Ed, do you think we'll be spending much more this month?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I can tell you where there is interest in a player but I cannot predict if and when any transfer might happen. However, I think you can probably forget Ishak Belfodil following claims that Everton were completely unprofessional in trying to make the transaction happen.}

18 Jan 2017 17:26:39
Ed does it look like we are going to go for berahino now that befodil is dead won't go for depay on a permanent. He looks like the last option as you said last resort thanks in advance

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of Everton interest in Berahino - are the club that stupid?}

18 Jan 2017 17:44:42
You never know ed he could come good? Have we shown interest in any other attacking player since the deal for belfodil collapsed? Thanks again.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - as far as we know eddy berahino has never been on the radar mate, other attackers have been looked at but there is nothing tangible at the moment..

18 Jan 2017 08:39:53
Eds you heard anything about the belfodil deal collapsing? If so do you think we'll go back in for gabbiadini? Also if depay Is off to Lyon, will we firm up any interest if any in that Jonathan cafu?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement over Belfodil with the fee to his club nor the personal terms at this time - the involvement of a third party was a serious mistake. Napoli's asking price for Gabbiadini is putting clubs off right now - so it will drag out until the end of the window unless someone comes up with a deal. Leicester remain very keen on Cafu and have held discussions. Having added a winger already that may not be such a priority.}

18 Jan 2017 08:53:31
OK cheers Ed. Hope we get 4 more in either way

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Jan 2017 10:16:28
Think you may be being a bit hopeful with 4, unless your including potential youth players. Honestly I can only see 2 coming at the most. An attacker and a defender. Personally I'd be happy with that for this window. Especially if we can move kone on

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 10:55:54
Defender definitely a striker and a creative mid at least, Roland dad say he wanted 5

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 13:55:34
I'm already very happy with the window, move out some under performers to make space in the squad for summer and let the kids fill in when necessary. We only have league games left this season that's only 17 more games.

Maybe one more player in, but I'd be happy to wait until summer when there's more quality players available.

18 Jan 2017 14:00:00
What sort of third party was involved Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - van Buyten as previously explained.}

18 Jan 2017 15:02:55
Thanks Ed.

Out of interest what sort of role would he play in the negotiation? Presumably each club has their own people involved in the negotiation and the player would have their agent so what would be the relevance of including a third party?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is not uncommon for third parties to undertake negotiation on behalf of clubs or act as a go between.}

18 Jan 2017 15:08:34
Informative as always. Thanks Ed.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Agents and "representatives" get involved in all sorts of matters - some even get involved with the brokering of the sale of clubs - others have to babysit players. Two quick stories you might enjoy. (a) a Premier League player who couldn't drive had his agent organise the purchase of an expensive car that was rolled out of the garage when he was visited by the press etc. for interviews, demanded the car was replaced a year later with the latest model in a different colour. He still couldn't drive - but it was image. It had a couple of hundred miles on the clock. (b) a northern-based Premier League player who had put clothes in a washing machine but had no idea how to turn it on repeatedly rang his agent in the South East for instructions on how to use it. This was eventually solved by the agent persuading someone at the Worsley Park Marriott to send a housekeeper (or similar member of staff) around to his house to do his washing and instruct him and his girlfriend in the use of the machine. I will say that both players involved are English.}

Ha ha brilliant. Seems like being a modern day football player is hard work.

18 Jan 2017 16:25:26
Love it Ed you could write a book with material like that

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 17:25:01
Well if I was offered the kind of money that some of these agents earn I would go around that players house and lick his clothes clean.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i heard that some of the agents go to you for a loan ace, but i dont know how true that is mate.. :)

18 Jan 2017 07:18:17
Looks like Depay is off to Lyon so that one we've missed out on, if we were really in for him in the first place what do you think Ed.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i have said that im not a fan of his AB and i hope he does go to lyon, i have done the depay issue to death mate..

18 Jan 2017 16:00:09
I'm getting sick of it as well Ed and like you I'm not a fan of him
