{Ed025's Note - surely not konehead, it would be a massive step backwards and the end of me with everton, i have put up with a lot over the years but im afraid that would be the final straw mate..

17 May 2016 19:41:56
David Moyes will NOT be coming back to manage Everton. Our new manager is to be a proven top manager able to attract top players. This from Fahrad.

. sorry Farhad. Excuse the typo. Fat finger syndrome.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we all know what you meant bri..

17 May 2016 19:50:08
But Rafa said he'd like the job too, so using your logic, we'd have Moyes, Steve Round, Rafa Benitez and Frank De Boer? All seemingly want the job, so they're all 100% coming, if they're talking about it.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 May 2016 20:27:07
Rafa will not get job because of who he managed (liverpool) frank de boar will go to Spain or Italy because we take an age to do anything (when was the last time Everton did anything quick a transfer takes 3 months to complete so a manager anyone's guess)
Plus if stam and Bergkamp are not part of the deal am not sure it's a gamble so do we really think we will get the special one or the city manager I don't think so keoman no chance so that leaves moyes and round safe option not my choice could be worse though am hearing Rodgers is in talks with celtic poor fans .

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - how the hell could that be worse????, your killing me here konehead, .... :)

17 May 2016 20:37:52
Am only joking ed I don't want moyes but if we want frank de boar we need to move fast i would still like to think with the money we can offer we could get koeman or the special one and with every Tom dick and harry wanting the job don't be surprised to see Spanish bob put his cv in haha.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - knowing us konehead..we might just hire him.. :)

17 May 2016 18:41:42
Hi Ed is it true rafa wants the everton job or is it just media talk.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i really dont know how true that is litts, i cant see a reason why he would not want the job though mate..

17 May 2016 18:22:17
Hi Eds seen a new name bouncing about in Mauricio Lemos have you heard anything or is it a load of rubbish.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its very much true ST, we are very interested but he was a player wanted by martinez and now hes gone i dont know whether that will change things mate..

17 May 2016 22:40:56
Thanks Ed, I did wonder as I think it was Ed002 who did a very thorough and informative reply about targets and I was sure he wasn't mentioned then his name crops up in the press and wondered if that was to push Barcelona to raise their offer.
I like the look of the Belgium boy Engels he looks good, not heard much of Lemos, do you know anything about him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont to be honest ST, only that he is held in high regard and will be on quite a few clubs wish list mate..

17 May 2016 17:32:00
Eds, Any news on De Boer, have more talks taken place?

Is there any substance to the Mourinho rumours also?

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of talks with de Boer just yet just arrangements being made on Friday. I have explained over and over about Mourinho who has not been approached and is not talking to Everton.}

17 May 2016 18:44:37
Probably going to wait all summer for our new manager hope not benitez tho.

17 May 2016 19:33:08
Think we all need to take a step back and be patient. Knee jerk reaction brought about by fan and media impatience lumbered us with Martinez. let's give the Club room to breath.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

17 May 2016 17:15:32
Ssn - 'Jose Mourinhio' told Utd job is his if Van Gaap leaves the club this summer'. well, that could be that then - no Jose at Everton or are we going to get a pleasant surprise?

. Rafa Benitez desperately wants the Everton job according to Richard Keys this morning and with his advisors is trying to convince the Everton board to give it to him!

Soil wouldn't have Benitez but wouldn't mind Roberto mancini as long as he wasn't allowed to bring ballotelli with him he is a proven winner plus has premier league experience.

Agree4 Disagree5

17 May 2016 12:43:42
Ok, I can see why people are against Benitez, but let me play devils advocate here.

He is a proven winner, very tactically astute, can attract top players, has tons of premiership experience and is a, football aside, very decent man who seems to be as straight as they come. So the reasons you don't want him? Because he called us a small club? (I happen to believe that that comment was lost in translation) Because he managed Liverpool? Is that it? It would seem that most nay sayers only have these reasons not to have him and in my opinion, that attitude is inward and could be worthy of the tag "bitter".

He would not be my first choice, but should the board appoint him, I would support their decision - purely because in footballing terms, it makes sense. And for those of a "bitter" persuasion, imagine how much the reds fans would hate that!

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - one thing about Rafa, he is a genuinely nice guy and does a lot for charity and is absolutely obsessed with football. When he is out of work, he coaches the local school team, rather than sit on his hands or do media work to earn more money.}

17 May 2016 13:16:37
i would love him as our next manager, in 2 or 3 seasons he can then call the reds a " small club " after we have bettered them :)

Agree2 Disagree2

Ed001

Back in the day so to speak how would you have felt about Catterick let's say, coming over the park to manage the reds?

As for Rafa's charity work and community spirit I didn't know that and yes it's admirable compared to 'others' .

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - it really wouldn't bother me, so long as he was successful. That is how I judge them. Brendan Rodgers came in as a Liverpool fan, but he was still a clueless buffoon of a manager.

Having said all that, if it was me, I would not appoint Rafa to run my team. He can do great things, but he has a tendency to meddle in club politics and wants to have hands on control of every little thing. Without Pako Ayesteran alongside him, he is nowhere near as good as he was. Now Ayesteran I would suggest as a better choice, he was the reason Valencia's slump ended.}

17 May 2016 14:13:12
Know it shows my age, but both Johnney Morrisea and Kevin Sheedy came to us from liverpool, and both helped win the titie, so if Rafa did the same, i could forgive his past"sins".

Agree2 Disagree1

17 May 2016 15:01:42
I wouldn't want Benitez or Moyes for one reason.
Can you imagine if we go let's say 6 or 7 games without a win, or worse still, we lose 3 or 4 games on the bounce.
The knives would be drawn from a lot of fans so I think it's a slippery slope to consider either of them.
It's not my decision, but if it was, I'd look elsewhere.

Agree4 Disagree0

17 May 2016 16:20:06
JCW, also Gary Ablett and I'm sure Dave Watson came from there. Both went down to be great signings.

Frank, I'm sure that would be the case whoever was appointed.

Ed, as a bloke, he is great. As you quite rightly say, he does tons for the community and charities.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2016 17:07:24
C'mon guys these are professionals paid lots of money to get results, we as fans can have petty reservations but ultimately no one would care if we won something!
Did anyone moan when we signed Beardsley or Ablett?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2016 16:45:27
. that's a valid point Ed about Pako ayesteran. Benitez was the worlds greatest manager with him as his no.2.but since they went there separate ways he hasn't been anywhere near as successful!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if it was me picking, Pako would be one of the people I would have under consideration to be honest. I think he is very underrated. Though not sure how well he would go down with the fans, not only did he work for Liverpool, he is a Liverpool fan and the man that persuaded Rafa to take the Liverpool job as he was desperate to work there.}
