Linked with Malcom in the papers. Personally seeing this one as unrealistic and not goig to happen. Am I correct in that assumption ed?

{Ed002's Note - He is almost certainly heading elsewhere (simply awaiting an issue to be resolved by the buying club) and I am not aware of any approach by Everton to Bordeaux.}

Looking ahead to start of the season I think we are in a better place now than the beginning of last season even without any new signings. The reason I say this is because last season we had no Tosun, no Coleman, no Walcott then Baines got injured very early and missed a big chunk of the season Sigurdsson wasn't even nearly match fit. Now with Lookman a year older and having gained valuable experience with RB Leipzig we are going to have a much different side for the first game than last year, one with hopefully a bit more steel and attacking threat. That's not to say we don't need anyone else in, a CB and LB are essential in my view and maybe another top class striker to ensure competition . Can't wait for.

Good post toffeeAl nice and positive. I agree we are in a better place and am not panicking. Add to your comment Dowell who may or may not get a look in, but looks like he has a good left foot.

I was thinking about the CB position and wondered, if we have holgate and jags/ Keane as first choice next season, Williams has 12 months on his contract and earns stupid wages. Would it be worth signing an unknown on half his wages and getting rid of Williams but paying half his wages to get rid of him.
My point being, if the player coming in will take a few months to settle and even then might not dislodge someone we already have, is it worth holding back, having williams as 4th choice? making do, and when Williams goes, go all out for a top quality player knowing we can invest all wages saved on Williams on them.

I'd like him gone but just thought this might be better than paying his new club 50000 a week or whatever it would be.

Williams has to go for me. You can't play that bad and still have a place in the sqaud. CB is a must. Getting a solid back four in front of Jordan Pickford enhances our ability to keep hold of him imo. can't see him staying if he had to put that again this season.
