Fer was 3rd choice after Capoue and M'Vila in January. Moyes will not go back for him as there will be better targets in the summer.

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Capoue was not on the list of targets moyes did asked to loan mvilla, moyes has looked at fer before he joined twente so don't be surprised if this is back on in the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

Any one of those three would be great

Agree0 Disagree0

Working in Munich today at exhibition (Bauma), Dutch colleague said they thought Fer deal was done in summer and Twente chairman keen for if to go through at price. Colleague reckons Fer overrated and price we were supposed to be paying was too much for his quality! Maybe deal fell through because Blues didn't agree with value and nothing to do with his 'knee'. Would need to be much cheaper for us to go back in summer. Only opinion.

Am I right Eds in thinking we now have to at least reach 5th for a Europa League qualification? Based on facts: Swansea qualify as League Cup winners. Wigan qualify as runners up or winners of FA Cup against Man City or Chelsea who will already be qualified for Champions League (probably). Thus meaning only one remaining place ie 5th in League.
Degsypulford {Ed025's Note - i think your right degs..

IF CHELSEA WIN fa CUP AND europa cup but finish 5th, 6th place is up for grabs as well I think

Agree0 Disagree0

We may get in the top 4

The only way 6th can get into europe is if Chelsea win the FA Cup and finish 5th. That way they they qualify twice for the Europa and the league takes presidence over the cup runners up spot.

Agree0 Disagree0

What if Chelsea win the Europa league? That generates another place?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, 5th place is now the only way we can qualify for Europe. But sod 5th place, we're going for 4th right?.

Agree0 Disagree0

The winners of the UEFA Europa League qualify for the following season's competition as "title holders" in addition to their country's other "normal" qualifiers EXCEPT if they have qualified as one of these other "normal" qualifiers. In that case the "title holder" qualification is forfeit. That's what happened with Atletico Madrid - they won the UEFA Europa League but qualified "normally" by finishing fifth in La Liga. So, for next season, England's three "normal" qualifiers will be Swansea City (as League Cup winners), Wigan Athletic (as FA Cup winners or runners up to ManCity - on the basis that ManCity are definites for Champions League qualification), and whoever finishes fifth. If Chelsea win the UEFA Europa League, but finish fifth, they'll qualify as normal. If they win the Europa League, but don't finish fifth, they'll qualify as "title holders" and the team finishing fifth will qualify as "normal". There's no way finishing sixth will qualify. The only other hope is qualification via the Fair Play ratings. Anyway, we're aiming for fourth, so it's academic! Simples.

In addition to what I state in my post about Europa League qualification, and being strictly technically correct, the "title holder" position isn't the one that's "forfeited", but rather the "normal" qualification position. Either way, Chelsea finishing fifth (or higher) and winning the Europa League doesn't make sixth a qualifying position this year. Whatever happens with Chelsea, now only a fifth position finish will qualify this year.

Looks like the end is coming to nikica jelavic's time at goodison. rumours in madrid are that atletico madrid are to make a move in the summer for the croatian striker. I for one would be gutted if he was to leave everton okay he has been on a poor run lately and has looked a shadow of the player we seen last season. but moyes has been playing him wrong by asking him to come out of the area and go wide a lot. he is at his best when he is in and around the box and on his day there is no better one touch finisher in the epl than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard a news piece that the europa cup finalists will be given a champions league group stage place, an attempt by uefa to make the competition more competitive and taken more seriously by teams. anyone heard anything similar to this? {Ed025's Note - no mate..

I am still a bit worried about Moyes. Liverpool fans are starting to talk about sacking Rogers at the end of the season and which managers would be available for them. No mention of Moyes at all. He would certainly be given a bigger budget than he currently has and a good chunk of our supporters keep slagging him off. Sometimes you add two and two and get four!
Degsypulford {Ed025's Note - that scenario, would be 2+2= 1,000,000

Believable0 Unbelievable28

Liverpool will not be sacking Brendan Rodgers. moyes will not be going to Liverpool even if they did. moyes will either stay here or go abroad. I can't see moyes at another prem team.

In all honesty I don't see Moyes leaving us, I think he'll sign a new contract with clauses in, he's playing hard ball imo wanting a decent transfer fund to move us upwards!
Going to the R/S haha NOT A CHANCE
Mr Blue Sky

Agree0 Disagree0

The situation with moyes is quite simple, if we get a european place he will stay. if not he will leave if he gets an offer from a club with a european spot. he keeps saying he will wait and see where we finish before deciding so it seems pretty evident to me {Ed025's Note - yet he seems to be making plans for everton next season?...strange..

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course he's making plans, ed! He won't just put all his eggs in one basket.

Anyone think andros townsend is worth a bid thought he had a great game for qpr and was there main threat he is on loan from spurs

Can see spuds letting him come to us though mate, cracking player though

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

Townsend ran around like a headless chicken. Not worth consideration.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think townsend looks like a decent player, and one which I wouldn't mind for everton. However, in order to get him from spurs we would have to overpay a fair bit. Therefore, this would not be plausable as we would have to pay a considerable amount for a potential talent. Yes he has lookd good recently but he is still to establish himself as a good premier league player.

heard any thing about a badge change ed? {Ed025's Note - no mate..

Believable5 Unbelievable10

We're going back to the late 80's badge of just the tower and laurel wreaths next season. It's on the hoodies and rugby shirts in the club shop now and has been so popular the club have decided to re-launch it.
