You heard it here first folks, I have a mate who is a chelski fan & lives near their stadium, he told me on the phone this morning that mourinhio wants baines in the January window to replace Ashley cole & is willing to sell lukaku in exchange with us paying 6-8 million in cash the other way. He reckons Martinez has been in London at some stage this week thrashing out a deal with the abramovich hierarchy!! Whilst this is only a rumour as far as I'm concerned, to be fair my mate doesn't usually make stories up, so although I'm quite excited by this one.we will have to wait & see if there is any truth in it!

{Ed002's Note - There isn't.}

Why would we pay - 6-8 million
Bluenose

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that I think it's true bluenose, but if it were we would be paying 6-8 million because Lukaku is 20 and Baines is 29 and Lukaku is a forward and Baines is a left back. To be fair if it was true I'd be tempted!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take it though

I posted this 2 weeks ago as what I would like to happen on a forum, somebody has read it and taken it as a rumour!
Mr Blue Sky

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just telling you all what my mate told me this morning on the phone, I havn't read anything of yours 2 weeks ago & turned it into a rumour.I don't actually think it's true anyway for what it's worth, if anything I think there is much more chance of us landing Ryan Bertrand & Bainsey going to the mancs.

Agree1 Disagree1

Plus swap deals rarely ever happen between Premiership clubs, especially between clubs who are both vying for the top 4.

Blue Tommy

If there's any truth in this rumour I'd lap it up straight away

Know how Chelsea got Cole in the first place? Part exchange. I'm not saying it will happen but you never know.

Chelsea in for baines, willing to see Lukaku as part of the deal. Want Baines to stay, but age 20 - age 29, it could be the right deal for the club as cash alone would not be enough to persuade chelsea to let him go.

I see the papers are suggesting Luke Shaw is interesting Chelsea. ssn say they are being rebuffed by Southampton who say they will not sell. This is all very interesting because I posted a few months ago that we should be interested in Shaw if Baines finally goes to Utd. I then heard from sources within the club that Shaw would go to either Utd or Chelsea. The worrying thing about this is that if Shaw goes to Chelsea, it suggests a deal may already be in place for Baines to go to Utd. It seems logical that both clubs need a left back and if Chelsea get their man, then that paves the way for Utd to step in. I am not saying this is FACT like some people do, but all the evidence seems to be falling into place. It is doubly worrying in the fact that if there is no competition for Utds bids, then they will get him cheaper. Unless Utd have their eyes on another LB? I have heard no rumours on this one. It seems certain that Evra is off so like I say all seems to be pointing towards this happening.

Believable1 Unbelievable13

How does Shaw going to Chelsea signify that evidence is falling into place for Baines to leave? Shaw hasn't indicated he wants to leave, and Southampton are refusing to sell. This means nothing. And even if Shaw does go to Chelsea, that doesn't mean Man U have a deal in place to sign Baines, it just means he's gone to a club where he can challenge for the title with players like Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Ramires etc. rather than negative, mid table mediocrity with Ashley young and Danny Welbeck. I'm not 100% dismissing you're theory, but you are definitely reading into things too much. You're staring to sound like one of the journalist.

Agree1 Disagree0

If it happens so be it he's showed he's been a true professional and I feel that there is competition for his place now also.

Agree0 Disagree0

There was no competition for Fellaini as far as I'm aware and we completely rinsed them in that deal, why should it be different with Baines? He may have less time on his contract but I don't see being a significant factor. If it's left until next summer he'll be approaching 30 by the time the season begins, will they still want him by that time? I can see him staying at least until summer, then Utd will likely look for a younger alternative and LB will sign a new contract, hopefully.

Hi Ed what do you think of Ryan Bertrand as a replacement for Leighton Baines. I hope it never happens

Believable5 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Everton has enquired about the player with his agent.}

Why would baines want to go to utd let's face it utd are a club that needs a overhaul of players they are an ageing team so I think you are looking at a couple of seasons at least for utd to be title winners or champ league contenders and that's a big ask as it stands they will struggle to make top 4 this year which means no champions league place and with a World Cup next year he could stay with us and we look like we are serious top 4 chance so I am not sure at the age of 29 it would be a good move I think he will stay never thought I would say in a players career that moving to utd is not a good footballing move

Morning Ed 2.

Is this a recent enquiry mate, if this is the case then looks like LB is defo on his way

Cheers Degsybluenose

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - In the past couple of months, but clubs look at players and enquire about players all of the time, so don't read too much in to it.}

Yer I think RM has asked about him for a replacement for LB. As for Luke Shaw Chelsea are going to offer 30mill. We don't have that sort of money

Agree1 Disagree0

Made me chuckle that mate, he is undoubtably talented but is also 18 and I doubt they will offer 30m for an 18 year old left back, if he gets one bad injury that is 30m for nothing, bit too risky doubt they will offer that much. Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

If anyone gets a bad injury that's the money down the pan, so by that logic what's the point in paying for players? I'm sure in this day and age they're all insured. Doesn't stop people spending spending money on garbage though, Willian, Soldado etc. Luke Shaw would be a good investment for someone.

I mean that kind of money, a good invesment yes but for 30m when he will never be worth it is too much but let them waste it. Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

Luke Shaw should do the smart choice to benefit his career and stay at Southampton. They are very much an experimental side who are playing very attractive football and he is gaining so much from being a regular in the starting 11. He is only 18, he could stay for another 3 years and really turn into a world beater. Once that happens he should then consider moving on, unless Southampton have reached new heights themselves. Which is not impossible.

toffee jack.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know a lot of Blue who value(d) Baines around £20-25m, some even higher at the age he is now. Luke Shaw WILL be better than Baines so I don't see it as particularly excessive. Ashley Cole weighed in at around £25m with Gallas part of the deal, and Shaw will be the England LB for over a decade as things stand so it's not as silly as it sounds, and he recently signed a 5 year deal.

This is probably way off the mark but I know someone who says that they saw Martinez on a train back from London on Monday, and that he was very coy when questioned about why he had not travelled back with the team. Apparently according to other information from a friend (unsure of original source) he had stayed in London to speak with Chelsea about signing Lukaku permanently. The fee being bandied about was £22m (which I think is rather cheap). This is probably complete rubbish but it is a rumour nonetheless!

Blue Tommy

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Would love to believe it but I can't see that happening and especially for such a low fee. I would have thought Chelsea's valuation of him would be around the £35 mil. mark.

BitterBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

£35m? He is good but he is not worth near that amount IMO for that price you want the complete article, still has a lot to learn lukaku. has all the potential in the world but its whether he can fulfil it!
SpekeBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

If their stupid enough to loan him to us hopefully there stupid enough to sell him to us for that

Agree0 Disagree0

I appreciate that you yourself acknowledge its probably rubbish, so I'm not having a go at you, by any means, but that does sound like a load of c**p to me. Even if it was true, which I highly doubt it is, Chelsea could get a LOT more for him from teams like Juve

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say more around 25 mill mark myself mate, can't see us raising that though but would live it to happen, any one know what wages he is on

Degsybluenose

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt he would be on too much Degsy, in relative terms, that we can't afford as he's still a boy, albeit a very large one. Maybe £40-50k at chelski, I'm sure we could accommodate his wages were he to become available, the transfer fee would probably prove to be the major stumbling block.
Granville

(Ed's any chance you can cut the other reply, verbatim, on the banter page please) thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can't.}

The wages he is on now are not relevant, he signed that contract a couple of years ago, he will want his big pay day on his next contract, out of evertons league

Agree0 Disagree0

He will never join Everton permanently, he wants to impress Chelsea because he wants to play for them in the long term. It's obvious and no one seems to understand. He has said it himself in interviews. I know we have big ambitions and we can potentially snatch a champions league spot, but Chelsea are title contenders year in year out (usually), have fantastic players and he wants to be a part of that. I hate to say it but Everton are just a stepping stone for his development.

toffee jack.

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't see any deal being done until the end of the season, as Lukaku himself has said he wants Champions League football. It may become a bit more likely if we manage to get a top four finish but I can't see it happening before that. Just reporting what I have heard!

Blue Tommy

Agree0 Disagree0

If Chelsea sign Falcao in january as rumours suggest then there will be no place for him in their squad let alone starting place i'm not saying we could sign him but doubt he really has a future a chelsea while mourinho is there
