Current Bets

11/10 Martinez
10-1 Lennon
10-1 Pereira
12-1 Neville
14-1 Laurup
20-1 Mackay
40-1 Bar

Anyone have the insight of any late challengers?

Believable7 Unbelievable12

Klinsmans odds on gone from 100/1 to 14/1

Agree0 Disagree0

Cahill

Agree0 Disagree0

Mancini to be sacked by man city. automatically then fav for everton job {Ed025's Note - hmmm..

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Rafa Benetez as an interim manager, to give board time to consider? Would be the first person to manage both major Merseyside teams!

Agree0 Disagree0

No insight, just my personal bets:

Slaven Bilic at 40/1 (still that)
Round at 25/1 (now 100/1)

I doubt anyone has any real insight yet because BK will still be drawing up a hitlist and probably won't make any approaches before the season is out. Bilic is my favourite above all the other names mentioned and gets a good win percentage out of his teams (I think it's around 55-60%?) and his teams from what I've seen have played good attacking football

Agree0 Disagree0

Klinsmann would be great.
Im personally hoping for Bilic

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez is the shout. You might not get good odds but makes a world of sense. If you're going for an outsider may I suggest a few quid on Pereira?

Agree0 Disagree0

How about Nigel Atkins, he did a good job at Saints and unlucky to be sacked.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who does Ed think and he would he like as manager?
Cheeks {Ed025's Note - i have said martinez all along cheeks, but i will support whoever gets the job mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone but lennon. His outbursts and disciplinary record would make everton the laughing stock of english football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone but lennon? listen bud neil lennon beat the best team that's ever been this season, and his outbursts>well he's backing his team to the hilt,. ,. kbarry {Ed025's Note - and theres nothing wrong with that KB..

Rumours going round Alan Stubbs has been offered the job, really hope it's not true.

Believable8 Unbelievable24

As all the candidates that the Blues have been linked with are mediocre, apart from Laudrup. I would like us to take a chance on Stubbs with Duncan Ferguson as his assistant. Stubbs has done a great job with the U21's and they would certainly bring a lot of passion with them. The fact is Everton have never won a trophy without an ex player managing them, perhaps our 18 year wait for a trophy could finally come to an end under the stewardship of S+F.

Been at the game and heard a load of rumours about Stubbsey wanting the job but on my way out walking down Gwladys Street about an hour after the game Big Dunc came out of a staff door. I just said to him good send off for Moyes an all that an then said so would you want the job? He replied aye would love it but you have to be asked first. Anyone think the next manager could be from within?

Believable18 Unbelievable13

Ye, the more I think about it the more i'm drawn to stubbsy&dunc partnership!
Mr Blue Sky {Ed025's Note -

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love to see bog dunc him self be given a go with maybe Stubbs as number two the thought of that excites me very much {Ed025's Note - not me mate...

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe in 4-5 years but not right now

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2013 18:11:03
thankyou we can't have mackay at everton he will ruin the club. Laudrup is the way forward play with flair we don't want a hard worker like McKay or lennon bog standard. Yeah when you say AVB had 2 years experience he also went a season unbeaten and won the Europa league. The top 3 in the betting are not everton managers come on what do you think ed?

Believable12 Unbelievable8

We all know it will be moyes who decides who we get, and we all know that will be somebody in the same image as him Mackey will be the man mark my words.

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably end up with Neville sadly

Agree0 Disagree0

I think today was the last game played at goodison for several players ie fellani baines jelavic coleman and maybe osman. really saddened that moyes is gone. I think he will take baines and fellani to manchester with him. my point is will the new manager be given money to replace these players should they go. I think the two big misses will be baines and also jelavic okay he has not had the best of seasons but there is no doubt on his day he is a class act just been lacking confidence lately. anyway would like some of your thought's on this including ed.

as for next manager laudrup is a good shout and I have also heard david weir could be assistant to the new manager. but one name I would throw into the ring is jurgen klinsmann probably won't happen but could be worth a shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mackay has no chance of being our next manager and you can mark those words.

Roberto Di Matteo has accepted the Everton managers job.

Believable17 Unbelievable25

And the "Airborne Bacon Display Squadron" has just finished its aerobatic show over Goodison Park.

Agree0 Disagree0

And an online article from the Echo said they spoke with BK after the match who said the decison would not come anytime soon. so I think not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez

Agree0 Disagree0

The same di matteo who got the sack for nearly relegating wba who fluked a champions league trophy and was sacked not long after by Chelsea nah not for me what so ever

Agree0 Disagree0

No he hasn't, I have. my name is Roberto Mitty. Walter's Italian cousin. now stop with this drivel. please. (Wavertree Blue)

Dougie Freedman name doing the rounds at the game

Believable8 Unbelievable25

Interesting suggestion, but not for me at this moment in time.

Agree0 Disagree0

With names like this going round we R already on a downward spiral

Agree0 Disagree0

Loved him on top of the pops in the 80s

martin jol wants the job you know anything ed? {Ed025's Note - he may want it...but i dont think he will get it..

Believable6 Unbelievable20

Apparently Jol is unhappy at Fulham because he can't get the funds he wants for players. Ok if he came to Everton he could have substantial funds this summer but let's face it come next summer and he won't have anything unless that elusive billionaire finally turns up.

Agree0 Disagree0

B. K. will like the prospect of Malkay Mackay taking over at Goodison. He will Be a cheaper option than other more high profile managers. He will not demand a massive transfer kitty to strengthen the squad, other managers will negotiate a transfer warchest before committing to the position Mackay will accept the appointment as reward enough. B. K. has a very tough decision on his hands at present, I know finacial constraints will play a part in our manoveurs within the summer markets, but now more than ever cash must be made available for whoever is installed as new manager. This has to be part of the attraction to entice a manager we all can take confidence in. We as a club sit very precariously at present, we need stability, we need the structure built over the last number of years to remain intact and strong allowing us to appoint a manager who feels confident in the position he goes into with a decent chance of making some transfers that allow him to make a statement of intent, both for himself and our beloved Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id prefer jol over mackay. We been linked with a lot of young dutch players and maybe he could persuade them to join us or get them on a cheaper deal, plus he has european experience and in the prem! Best option besides pereira

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2013 12:59:22
When moyes took over we were obviously round the bottom of the league year in year out. Now he's left us in a stronger position and I think we need a manager to take us on again and not just hang about in 5th 6th or 7th. We need a man to reflect our position and I think its not an easy one to choose it really isn't. I'm not sure about martinez. mackay is a no lennon is a hell no. Its a really hard decision and I just hope bill gets it right and unfortuately for him quickly to. Not like lookin for investment.

Believable16 Unbelievable3

DI MATTIO WOULD BE GOOD

Agree0 Disagree0

I really don't think you can be that picky after all its only everton come on pull your head in youll be lucky to finish in top ten next season lol mm

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, and people give the club a disservice saying that we can't offer a new manager anything. This club gets 36000+ a game, sells out away, we have consistently finished within reach of Europe last few seasons. the tea we currently have is littered with players other clubs want, meaning we either keep them or cash in and hold out for a fair price.
how many other jobs in Europe are available with this going for it. Add to that they know the chairman and fans are loyal, we need to be looking up and not just tredding water, this club can achieve again we just need the board to have the balls to go for it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think everton can be picky mm? away and boil your head. Finishing 6th in the premiership is an achievement, much harder than playing in the spl, where 1 team has no competition, and wins the league by a mile despite picking up less than 70% of points. that's a B grade.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayer Munich 22 points clear
Man Utd 13 points clear
Barcelona 7 points clear, 2 games in hand
Juventus 12 points clear

Celtic 13 points clear

All won they're leagues with big points gaps. So shut up trying to score pathetic points with the "one horse race" line, the top four leagues in Europe have been exactly the same this season.

Also worth mentioning Celtic went out of the Champions league at the same stage this season as the EPL champions and Arsenal, and going further than last seasons EPL champions and CL winners.

As if Lennon would be stupid enough to leave Celtic to join an EPL team that's going nowhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon won't get anywhere near our club. The man has no class, no humility, no decent opposition in his domestic league. Celtic may have got a few good results in Europe but they parked the bus in most big games. No style at all. Ugly and predictable, we don't want any of that so feel free to keep the person. Celtic being 13 points clear is not an achievement in the SPL, you should be disappointed if the team doesn't win every league game against inferior opponents
spudv

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern, man utd, barcelona and juventus. Difference being that they have other teams in their leagues who have similar or sometimes more spendin power than them. No one in the spl has even 10% of celtics spending capacity yet they have struggled to run away with the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil lennon is already at the bigger club, history and medal wise, lennons side regularly play European football, lennons side are former winners of the European cup in fact lennys club were the 1st team in Britain to do so,. ,. kbarry {Ed025's Note - he is also managing in the weakest league in europe..

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2013 09:58:16
Ed any chance of stubbs becoming the next manager?
Thanks
Paul {Ed025's Note - a lot of people seem to think so paul..but im not 1 of them mate..

I know a few people may not agree, but a few months back does anyone remember martin jol comments about everton, at the time I remember thinking he was talking himself into the everton job. I think he would be a great addition. Thoughts? Sav efc {Ed025's Note - not for me mate, but hey, what do i know?..

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have Stubbsy as the manager and big Dunc as his assistant. Lots a presence and passion from the big two. It may be a gamble but to was Moyes eleven years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton will have money to spend this summer the fer money is still available, the new sky deal and the saving on moyes contract means we will have about 15m plus player sales

Believable9 Unbelievable18

It's about 60 million all together with te TV money. Don't know where you get 15 million from abit of a insult to me saying about 15million

Agree0 Disagree0

The OPs 15m is more realistic than us blowing 60m

Agree0 Disagree0

With the right manager would be good to spend near 60 million if that's going to get us in te champions league

Agree0 Disagree0

We're supost to be saving 10 mil of moyes alone, and then the 'fer money'

so according to you BK is keeping his hands in his pockets

no chance with a new bloke at the wheel he's going to want to build his own team, I'm expecting 30 - 40 mil at least and will be so pissed if we come short of it

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye rite 60 million haha U mean he will give new manager 60 quid

Agree0 Disagree0

When has Bill ever spent more than £15m? Once, maybe twice. I suspect if he could never give it to Moyesy, whom he trusted implicitly, he's not going to give the new man too much. £20m at the most, but hey, that's just a guess too. Fact is nobody knows and I see a lot of people being disappointed when these outrageous funds don't magically appear.

Agree0 Disagree0

The new tv deal is worth about 10-15mil a season, what people forget is we operate on 5 mil lose a year, so it's worth average 8 mil a year for us, and has us operating in the black instead of the red (not including debts) and who ever said there was money in January? Maybe we were maxing out the credit again, so that would mean there was no money, and is still no money!
Now people are saying we will save on Moyes, so we going without a manager next season then, or we getting one that works for free! Ok we might not pay them as much, but there could well be compensation to pay the previous employer!
60mil come on get real will you, 15mil is close, look more at 10mil with player sales making it more, we all know felli is going so we could be looking at 35mil, with quite a few players to bring in and replace!

EverTheOptimistic

Agree0 Disagree0

Player stability has been a key part in our progression during the Moyes yrs and I for one think we will and should only bring in a few key players to either add quality, depth or freshen up the squad with youth.

60 million for a few new faces seems a lot and with top quality players commanding top wages I don't see use spending even half that in the transfer market.

Agree0 Disagree0

Makes me laugh here how they re some doom and gloom people on here. For sure we have more than 30 million to spend I guess some people here just likes dragging the club down by saying we don't have this and that

Agree0 Disagree0

We as supporters have no idea what BK has planned for the tv money but his track record suggests a few new signings unless we makes additional funds from sales I don't see huge changes in the new managers first season.

Agree0 Disagree0

15m is a good figure the sky deal will bring us into the black and the 10m for moyes was over 5y assuming we pay the new guy 2m not 4m a year so not for free as people were suggesting

Agree0 Disagree0

What fer money, as if we even had that, we had a fer deal set up if felliani left and that's that

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2013 20:58:01
why can't people on here try and look on the bright side of the situation, fellaini 25 mill, baines 15 mill. the tv cash. let's for once give bill a chance, its the rest of the board, What do they actually get paid for, either help the club and kenwright who is doing his best, seems he is on his own, rest of the board couldn't care less. let's see who the new manager is. let's get behind the club, And the chairman.

Agree0 Disagree0

The fer money. the deal didn't fall apart because his knee was hurtng him, we offered 1 mil upfront. that's it and then payments. were do you think we would get the type of money from.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2013 08:49:58
Everton will save 10m on moyes leaving so more money for the new manager to spend COYB EFCken

Believable16 Unbelievable7

This season has proven that money doesn't necessarily buy success. Swansea and Wigan have shown that clubs can win trophies through teamwork. We have even almost got into Europe and are not many points behind the London clubs who spend fortunes. I do think its time for a change of manager as moyes has not won anything in 11 years. Fair enough we are stable in league but we need trophies too especially for a club like Everton, unfortunately we can't say it because we have no money etc. Wigan don't have a pot to do anything in! Well done to moyes but now we have the stability we need to push on to get Europe and silverware.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to burst your bubble mate but buffalo bill don't have ten bob to spend never mind ten million so unless there is investment on way don't expect ten million

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton would only (allegedly) save 10m over the period of a 5 year contract. The manager, like all other players, gets paid monthly, so the club would only benefit to the tune of £166, 666. 66 per month! I can't wait to hear how Bill Kenwright will negoitiate that transfer. " yes, no problems, we will pay you £10m for your star player. £166, 666. 66 every month ok?"

Agree0 Disagree0

New manager working for nothing then is he?

Agree0 Disagree0

Next manager will need 10m

Agree0 Disagree0

Twoold. the OP is basing his comment on the Daily Mail story that were as Moyes was being paid 4m a year, the new man would only get 2m!
AJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Seeing how he is out of contract anyway, the club has saved exactly £0. We have also managed to lose out on any compensation from Utd because Moyes is free to walk away.

The way I am reading it Martinez must be coming, in every interview he has given the last few days when asked about the Everton not once has he said no, I am staying at Wigan. KK.

Believable16 Unbelievable12

Yesterday when asked he completely dodged all questions {Ed025's Note - he did mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

I mentioned this in banter yesterday, about the pre match interview between him and Gilles, when giles said someone would ask him if he is interested, he's not here so il ask on his behalf, and his reply was 'get him to phone me'
I like him personally, and don't think it would be a bad appointment, there's others I like also, but its about availability, and the majority that are out of work now are there for a reason and not any of my choices!

EverTheOptimistic

Agree0 Disagree0

Given most 99. 9% of the speculation is media generated Adrian Childs interview was polite courteous a little bit cheeky. But Martinez didn't rise.
Unlike Dm who at Evertons press conference for todays game starts with its about Everton then spends half the time over his week.
His final acts left a bad taste with me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, Moyes latest press conference he smiled and joked with media, normally he is as welcoming as a bad smelling crap on top of a wedding cake. That said, good luck and away you go David, Our concern now is to appoint a manager that can bring us silverware, something you never did. Am I bitter? You bet. Can`t help it.
"Once touched by Everton, nothing is ever the same again", Alan Ball, I`m paraphrsing there, can`t remember the quote exactly.

Two top targets for the everton job are martinez and mackay talks will not start untill the end of the season the everton board are looking at mangers with experience in england so you can rule out a move for the porto manager

Believable6 Unbelievable13

Top targets are Martinez, Benitez and Makay. Talks with the first two cannot happen until their seasons are over. Handy for Bill that we are at the Bridge next weekend!
AJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Mackay and laurdrap are on motd tonight to manager being linked with everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Benitez has no hope of being Evertons next manager, Mackay also has no chance. I think it will come down to Laudrup or Martinez, with Martinez getting the job because Laudrup will cost us about 7-8m in compensation. Personally I think we should pay the compensation because I think Laudrup is the best man for the job.

Being reported in the telegraph that we're going to approach malkey makay if true that's me finished with Everton if that's the limit of their ambition.

Believable5 Unbelievable10

Don't believe what you read in the newspapers it is unlikely that anyone will be approached before the end of the season anyway.
Wellzee {Ed025's Note - thats right..

Agree0 Disagree0

Even so if that's the extent of your support it can't run too deep

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair weather supporters like you can do one. I supported us even when that tossed Mike Walker was in charge. Harden up soft lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2013 08:11:14
its true though lack of ambition and I have been a season ticket holder for 15 years! malcky mackay is a championship manager with 3 years experience we are a top 6 club and we need European experience look at spurs you compare AVB with mackay yeah tell me who you think gets in the top 4!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on guys. You have been punching well above your weight for over a decade now and that's down to the awesome manager you had. that's the reason he is of to manchester utd. Get your head out the clouds. Everton have no money and would do well to nick a manager like malky from cardiff or lennon from celtic.
Hew

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see why they are waiting then if its him Cardiff season finished so why wait 2 weeks

Agree0 Disagree0

Think whoever we get deserves a chance! And why is premier league experience so vital? Look at avb 2 years in the prem! Look at moyes had no experience when he came! Then you have managers with tones of experience who like mick mccarthy and steve bruce who are crap! It can't be just about premier league experience, got to be about management style, results ( you can only beat what's in front of you) and character!

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever it is will get my support 100% until it is proven they are not up to the job. We will have to accept him because there is nothing to be gained from slaughtering him because its not who you personally wanted. We will get who Kenwright picks and nobody else. Martinez and Mackay would be fine by me, just hope its not Lennon.
RickTee {Ed025's Note - your right rick...just look at peoples reaction when we signed gibbo(me included)and how wrong we were...i will give the new guy a chance, its only fair mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

I fully agree. why do we have to settle for another manager who is all about discipline.
what ever happened to playing with flair attacking football and keeping the ball not launching it. please mr malky stay where you are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazing how many red clowns on here trying to gloat over our departing manager, sad for them now they are the lesser team in Liverpool. Stick with worrying about Brenda Rodgers, you lot have got your own problems, not least "The dentists dummy" Suarez looking to go to a bigger team, LOL, Now there`s a man who could eat an apple thru a letterbox, YNWA, You`re Not Wantin` Away?

Agree0 Disagree0

If your talking about ambition, big malkie would not touch you with a barge pole

Agree0 Disagree0

You everton bunch are a deluded lot. who do you want? jose mourinho? fabio cappelo? claudio ranieri? you have been punching well above your weight for years because of moyes (hence his move to utd). you will never compete with the teams above you and I think the teams bellow will overtake you now espcialy liverpool
matthew (arseanal fan) {Ed025's Note - you do realise that what you are saying is exactly what people think about arsenal dont you?, you need to concentrate on your own club mate, you are in decline, and never likely to win anything in the forseible future..so piss off!

Agree0 Disagree0

Touch a nerve there ed? ain't worried about my team at all infact I am looking looking forward to the season coming. Really think arseanl will push for top spkt next year. Our end to the season has been briliant mate. Evrton though? See them finishing bottom half next year. You will loose all your top notch players and can never afford to replace yhem. Bad times ahead for the toffees I think {Ed025's Note - you did touch a nerve mate, as i dislike fools like you trashing my club, there will not be much between arsenal and everton next season, similar to this one, but unless you buy big, you wont make a dent in the top 3..
