Everton must have a man called "Slim" and his horse on the recruitment team, as most of the wilder transfer rumours have just two chances of actually happening: slim and none - and "Slim" just rode out of town.

Howard I posted that was just something I read certainly don't want anyone to think I believe it for a second though, In fact I was hoping my post got across just how much I don't believe it.

Hey

Pelle will never be a replacement for Lukaku if Rom goes. simply because he ain't an out n out goalscorer. yet. what he would bring is 14/ 15 goals n a host of assists and I mean a lot of them. in aupport of a proper target man. yet as I have said before its all conjecture. ain't it. only my opinion but I suspect Rom may stay and I for one would welcome this not withstanding his vocals. Pelle for the right price would be a valuable addition given we lost Naisy n only have Kone. won't comment on Niasse as yet as he needs a chamce to prove himself. or not as the caae may be. If Rom leaves then yep we need to be in the market for a 25 minimum goal scorer at proven top level. imho. COYB

Mart.

Think people have to remember there's only so far £100mill (as rumoured) spreads. Squad players as well as first team replacements are needed in this paper thin squad.

From the Everton official, club website:
"The Premier League has published its annual list of players approaching the end of their contracts.
This list includes 10 Everton players with contracts due to expire this month who have not been offered new terms.
Senior first team players Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert are included on the list.
Players on the Premier League released list will remain under contract until 30 June.
Osman and Hibbert have been with the Club since the 1990s, having made their way through the Academy system to become first team regulars. Both have been handed testimonials for their extended service in recent years.
Pienaar first joined the Blues on loan in 2007 before making the deal permanent. He rejoined in 2012 after a short spell at Spurs - again initially on loan.
The other Everton players listed are: Felipe Mattioni and youth players Jordan Thorniley, James Graham, Jindrik Stanek.
Second year academy scholars Jamie Mellen, Spencer Myers and Ciaran O'Loughlin will be departing the club this summer. ".

Son basically Sid how many spaces have we free of our 25 squad. Assuming all contracted players remain.

I've red that we've released 6.

NBTB; We have retained 25 contracted players aged over 21.
That's the maximum allowed for the registered aged-over-21 squad.
The 25 comprises 14 non-homegrown players (the maximum permitted is 17) and 13 homegrown, so we're currently OK in that regard.
So, as it stands, there are no spaces at present for any incoming aged-over-21 players. Therefore, some of the current squad will have to move out - either permanently or on loan - to free up squad places.
We have also retained 35 contracted players aged under 21 of whom 7 have been offered terms (but have yet to confirm acceptance) and 1 (Sambou) who we've just signed from Coventry City.
In addition to those 60 contracted players, we have 12 scholars (that's basically U18 academy players) , but I'd expect that number to increase when we take in a new batch of school-leavers as first-year scholars.

Always find your posts interesting sid. Can I ask, is your knowledge related to work or is it just something you are interested in?

My bad: I made a typo - the 25 comprises 11 non-homegrown and 14 homegrown players - sorry about that :-)

cropper16: It's nothing to do with my work. I'm just passing on information that I hope makes the other fans/ posters better informed and more appreciative of some of the constraints the club has to work under.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jun 2016 22:08:03
I do appreciate those constraints and I also appreciate you putting that up Sid, thank you. One small question, home grown is UK and Ireland players? Not 100% sure of the exact term for home grown. Think Ireland are included.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, home grown is eith (a) a player from anywhere in the world that spent three years registered ofr and playing for clubs in England or Wales, or (b) weed you have grown yourself from seed.}

11 Jun 2016 12:21:25
Ed002: Just to be clear, surely the three years registered with an English/ Welsh club to qualify as homegrown have to be before the player reaches 21? Older players coming in can't qualify as homegrown just because they've spent three years or more at an Englis/ Welsh club.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes Sid. You are correct.}

10 Jun 2016 14:58:26
Hi Ed - is it just me or is it not illegal for clubs to talk to our players (or their agents) without our permission. If so surely Barcelona are in breach of the rules?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is illegal but Barcelona has not spoken directly to John Stones.}

Looks like breel embolo is off to Utd according to footballtransfernews on twitter and their pretty spot on, what are the chances ed of Rooney coming after his testimonial?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - not very good i would say BB, it looks like he will stay at utd for another season maybe two then move on to the MLS i believe mate..

. Jasper Cillesan this morning linked with move to Everton. would be a great signing for Everton in goal!

Would be the perfect fit for me Soli good keeper start of a good spine to the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jun 2016 14:44:50
Yeah would be good - add to that Van Dijk, Wanyama, Rooney and Janssen and the new spine is complete in my eyes. the thought of Barkley and Rooney together at top of midfield excite me. add a bit of the youth in Tom Davies alongside Barry and Wanyama. get rid of Mirallas and Lukaku and put in Yarmalenko or Mane and play Janssen up front then we'll be top 4 for sure😬.

Agree2 Disagree1

10 Jun 2016 16:59:12
Soli I agree think cillesan would be good goalkeeper for us but think leno be even better don't think there's any chance of Rooney plus his age and wages he would be on wouldn't be worth it we should go spend on a younger talent with lots of potential and would have his best years ahead of him instead of Rooney who's best years r behind him but all the other players mentioned I agree with u we have to find a place in the match day squad for Davies he is a massive talent.

Hi Eds I saw something the other day, possibly on SSN that we had refused permission for people to speak to Stones and that he was going nowhere.
So is it just pesky journalists making up stories when I read Stones has rejected Barcelona and others that state he is close to joining Man City.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - there are lots of stories going around about stones ST, its hard to distinguish the truth from the speculation at the moment but i cant see anything being decided until after the euro,s mate..

10 Jun 2016 12:44:33
Thanks Ed.
