EPL to be paid TV rights of GBP5.1B for the next tranche. Surpassing the pre meet figure of GBP4.1B and dwarfing the current GBP3B deal. What does this mean for my beloved EFC? Well if I was a director I wouldn't want to sell for anything as the funds roll-in. Of course, some guys already talking about the Gbp300m player purchase and I guess it's not far off. How long can football for the fan exist?

Anyone else think its bang out of order putting Joel back on the bench? He commands the box better than Howard his kicking is better let alone his reflex saves Yet again another piece of bad management. Howard should be made to fight for his place and remember it's not a god given right.

{Ed025's Note - i will be more than disappointed if tim walks straight in lancer, joel has won the crowd over and done really well, what sort of message would it send out if that happens?..but it would not surprise me mate..

i agree and have no confidence in howard worst goalkeeper in the league

{Ed025's Note - thats unfair bretto, tim is a good keeper mate, but imo joel should keep his place..

Hes an overrated keeper that wouldn't get in any other premiership team, there bretto, that's better

Of course he'll walk in. Remember the other year? Howard was appalling all season, gets injured, Mucha is brilliant for 2 games, dropped the second howard is back. No spine in our management.

We used to say of Moyes that he had his favourites but this guy takes it even further. It is obvious to everyone for instance that Barry while a good servant and did a brilliant job last season never the less this time around his lack of pace and mistakes are actually costing us, yet if fit his name along with Tim's is one of the first on the team sheet.

Get a bit of backbone, less negative about everything. If Tim had played against WHU, he would have saved at least 2 penalties and we would have been in the 4th round.

This may read like heresy to other posters, but if we had someone like Gerrard playing in their last league derby after a one-club (to date) career of hundreds of games, having won domestic and European cups, having scored crucial match-winning and match-saving goals, and having played a hundred times for their country, then I'd expect the media to have gone to town just as much. It would just be utterly perverse for the media not to highlight this - not just for the player, but also for the benefit of their product (live televised football).
We Evertonians take pride by singing about "if you know your history" - well, in my humble opinion, we should respect the history of others. We don't have to like it, but we can show respect for the achievements of others.

Respect should be shown, more so as he is a local lad. We would appreciate it if it was the other way round.

{Ed025's Note - im all for respect keenone, but it has to be a 2 way street, the fact that he is a scouser (of which im one)has nothing to do with it mate, we and the reds have great supporters from far and wide, i have respect for him in the same vein as i have for lampard etc..

10 Feb 2015 19:13:19
Ed025, I think your reply was much of what I was trying to say.

I disagree, I really dislike gerrard, for many reasons and his achievements will not be 'respected'. There wasnt this media love in with lampard or scholes (both of whom gerrard doesn't belong in the same league as). And I find it DISRESPECTFUL by the media towards us the fact they were desperate for him to score and liverpool to win, same with the league last season. Does he deserve a guard of honour from us? For what, someone like HIM doesn't get my respect, not as a person or as a footballer, if he had not been a massive fool over the years then maybe, just maybe but after all this, just forget it? Nah, he's got his own fans and tabloids to look after him, he's a big boy now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - to be fair swan he has been a superb player for me, not that im likely to admit it to anybody.. :)

11 Feb 2015 12:42:43
I agree with Swan, I have no respect at all for Gerrard. Liverpool and England fans can have respect for him for his achievements but I don't. I have seen him dive and cheat on many an ocassion so why should I have respect for him? Too me he is just another over hyped English prima donna.
