United totally nullified the threat of Fellaini today. I'm sure a few clubs will look at that I might keep their cash in their pockets. Maybe Phil Jones just knocked 10 million off the asking price.

To all of you moaning about the performance need to remember that United's front two earn more than Everton's starting 11 combined. We are punching way above our weight.

I have always believed that Fellaini is best utilised as a defensive midfielder. He played his best football for us in this position and attracted the eyes of other clubs.
He is not a forward! He shouldn't be played in this position and this will be a contributing factor in his reasons for leaving. He wants to play in DCM position.
I would personally put Super Kev behind Jelly and with Felli playing deeper this would enable our midfield to push up and support the strikers.

simple fact of the matter is johnny is not good enough to wear the everton jersey. the last 5 goals we have conceded (3 villa, 2 Man utd) I would blame on him by not reading them right or having no pace. And I might get stick for saying this but I think moyes should really start looking at himself. sending peanuts out on the right and mirallas on the left only to be swapped after 10mins showed his tactics were wrong. our squad is thin but still how naismith gets a game is beyond me. headless chicken comes to mind. we needed a cf in the transfer window and what did we get, a right back who will sit on the bench for the next year or two because moyes is afraid to give the youngsters a run out.

Ray {Ed025's Note - i am coming around to the idea that johnny is not up to the task...great last year, noes not cut it for me anymore, and yes, we do need some new faces...so its up to the board to either put up...or ship out..

Agree0 Disagree0

Can hardly blame JH for Utd's second. If there was someone at fault it was Pip, though I'd say it was more of a collective mistake. But you're right he has cost us 5 goals, out the last 6, the one against west brom, 1 yesterday and 3 villa

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree with everything that has been said about Heitinga. He has got no pace whatsoever, he is completely awful. Why doesn't moyes give Duffy a run out? I also think we should give Stones a game to see what he is like. You only see how good they are if you give em a go. Can't do any worse than Johnny. We should have strengthened in the transfer window and that was a massive mistake, fresh faces just breath life into a team and also give competition for places. Moyes had his tactics all wrong and if he doesn't want to sign a new contract then don't and move on, he has left the fans and board who have supported him in limbo and its obviously affecting the team. How he can say we are tired is a weak excuse in my opinion, if professional footballers can't play once a week then that's beyond me. £50k a week and over some of these get and they can't give there all every game? Half a season team? Just excuses. It's about time they just went for it! Can relax and strengthen in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hate this expectancy that were " punching above our weight". Sums up your average supporter now, why shouldn't we expect more?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, I'm shocked, even the editors on here are now having a go at the 'board'. I was wondering when people will start to realise what a shoddy group of clowns we have running our ONCE great club! Releasing funds 1 week before the end of the transfer window when we've never been so close to 4th for many years! But hey, it was no shock to me that the manager ONCE AGAIN wasn't backed by our board like in 2004/5 when actually did finish 4th. You need to wake up and smell the coffee. What could we have achieved with the backing O'Neill gets at the Mackems, Allerdyce at West Ham, Pullis at Stoke, AVB Spurs, Pardew Skunks??
We'd be top 4/3 most of the time, forcing the unfair financial bigwigs to spend more of their dirty money, and push them over the edge! We are Everton, the fourth most successful club in the country, soon to be 5th, then 6th maybe 7th or 8th. Kenwrights crew are dragging us down and he's using the love of our club as a weapon against us!
He's a pathological liar which has been proven again and again! But like sheep we accept it because he's a blue from the boys pen! let's get something straight here! HE'S A BUSINESSMAN FIRST BEFORE HE'S A BLUE!
Dave M (Not a member of the Blue Union) {Ed025's Note - listen dave... when i said the board need to pull their fingers out, it was not aimed at BK, but the rest of the rabble in there with him, who dont do a tap!..

Getting beat at Old Trafford isn't the end of the world lads! What's got me concerned is the energy from the players. There is none! It seems to have dried up on the squad, I think we lost 4th place during the January transfer window by not signing a couple of players to freshen the team and give them a boost to kick on for the rest of the season.
6th place now is THE LEAST we should aim for, were not catching Tottenham or Arsenal now.

COYB!

Believable20 Unbelievable10

I agree mate united are a class act and we definitely needed to sign two players at least In January.
ppl keep saying get off bills back he loves this club at the end of the day 90 percent of our bord are multi million airs and even the smaller clubs have invested moor cash than our bord have an I would not blame moyes one bit if he walked away at first possible chance he is that good of a manager he deserves a bord that will bk him money wise

Agree0 Disagree0

Our board lost us any chance of 4th place, we've had a great season up to now, but our players look very jaded {Ed025's Note - we were not at our best yesterday, but in football that happens..i still think we have a hell of a lot to play for..

Spurs and arsenal will slip up, wether we capatalise is another thing, next two games are must win games, win them and were right back in mix

soon as distin was confirmed injured my heart sank, jags was basically playing as two defenders and it must be a nightmare having no confidence in the person next to you. hettinga has no pace has no defensive awarness and played a joke his ball disrupuiton is also awful.

i had a argument with some one about why we haven't strengthened I understand the market is a joke in jan but fresh blood was a must because a lift was what we needed and I hope poeple who were happy last week realise this MikeDeBlue

Believable17 Unbelievable2

They know we needed a striker and they failed the fans again. Moyes out after this season this is a good squad we need a new face at the helm. markyg

Agree0 Disagree0

He wasn't injured he was ill

Agree0 Disagree0

Shane Duffy anyone? He's played well every game and still hasn't been given a proper chance. At the moment he's better than Heitinga surely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes is the only manager a now who plays out of form players. how he expected vic to out gun uniteds duo up front is beyond me we have 4 players in our side no other prem side would want. when he came he said he would reduce the age of the team and bring in hungry players who wanted to wim things. he's done the complete oppisite. I won't miss his naiveness when he leaves and would bet he will fail with any other club expecting to win things, we are going backwards don't even mention his record with ruining strikers tom efc

Agree0 Disagree0

I said something similair to this post last week on the banter page and the ed slated me for it and also because I didn't leave a name he called me a keyboard warrior. been saying it all along moyes is the problem he's a fellow jock and I thank him for his time here but 11 years with nothing isn't good how can fellow fans be ok with that laudrup been in premiership not even 12 months and he's going to deliver silverware can you see where i'm getting, othe rteams play their youth, its the only chance youl know there good enough but moyes keepls playing osman neville heitinga etc, there not good enough, duffy vellios barkley will get fed up and do one! we really need change this summer on all fronts or they will be a slow demise Fact, summer i'd like new manager new players, youth put in complete revamp, thanks moyes but your time has come

dazza the jock {Ed025's Note - i think you are being unfair dazza...moyes has done a hell of a job on the budget he has been given, its ok to say just throw the young guys in, but im sure moyes knows a lot more than you and i mate, just look at villa, and what throwing their youngsters in has done for them..

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get this anti-Moyes sentiment. It surfaces at some point in every season and always focuses on the same things - why doesn't he change the system? Why does he play so-and-so? He's taken us as far as he can.

The point is if you don't play Anichebe you have to play Jela, and based on form Big Vic's earned his chance; the system makes the best use of the players at our disposal; and how do people think we would have faired over the last decade with someone other than Moyes in charge. Sadly I think we'll find out the answer to last point next season and it won't be pretty.

I agree with the person who talks about Duffy over Heitinga who, as good as he was last season, has looked truly awful every time I've seen him this year, but then I don't get to see what happens at the training ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know ed, he's done a good job not a great job, I don't think i'm being harsh at all, I've supported moyes since he was here but I have an opinion, yep I agree he sees boys day in day out, but sometimes in life you have to take risks i'm a youth coach myself and all for the youth there the future and with everton and not much £ its what we have. these young lads deserve a chance and if they ruin it fine but he wouldn't of signed them otherwise, take hope akpan for example he done well in youths reserves etc, moyes couldn't see it and left, played lower league and now at reading, his first game he was excellent, maybe given the chance he'd of done it for us? ruddy? england goalie jutkewizch (spelling) banging therm in wherever he goes. that's just naming a few, you see what i'm getting at,?. what other manager would last 11 years at a club with nothing, would saf lasted at man you? why should it be acceptable for everton? we deserve better and you know it I agree not all moyes fault (THE BOARD £ etc etc) but they don't run the team. my point is moyes thanks for turning us from relegation fodder to top 8 but that's as far as it goes for him, we need change. when it does happen and starts to pay off al be here waiting and saying told you so. dazza the jock {Ed025's Note - you make some good points dazza, but i believe getting rid of moyes is not the answer...its more backing we need, from them on the board who dont put their hands in their pockets..

Heitinga is rubbish. I was saying it before the match started. He's cost us our last 5 conceded goals. Give Duffy a chance. As for moyes doing a great job for the budget, for every mirralas, there's been a van der meyde.

and ed, as for giving the kids a chance, nobody is suggesting starting the academy team, we just want to see the likes of Barkley and others givien the opportunity they deseve.

PS Naismith should be shown the door as well.

another toothless display at old trafford.
piennar was so poor today it was like playing with 10 men
howard usual poor game, made it easy for RVP. Its time for Neville to hang his boots up now. too slow and didn't defend for the goal. Big Vic? he had a stinker!
how many chances are we meant to give him.
Felli gets man marked out the game in the first half and we do nothing about it.
When is moyes going to have a go at teams and play 442?
we are predictable. That wasnt even a good man united team out there today.

stewillow

Believable17 Unbelievable7

Nobody plays 442 anymore it's outdated and had we played that today Utd would have hit us for six

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with all apart from Howard being poor? He pulled of some good saves and there was nothing he could do about the 2 goals!!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Feb 2013 19:26:13
442 451 we were second best today, we had plenty of ball but didn't have a clue what to do with it. Too many not at the races today, below par is an understatement. Utd couldn't have wished for an easier game before their REAL test. Also missed Distin big time.

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you on? howard saved us from being worse off. Anichebe maybe was poor but who else have we got. and how can that be a poor utd team when there clear at the top Andy

Agree0 Disagree0

Well playin one up front ( especially victor)
doesnt work either. most top teams have 4 good strikers. we have one in jelly.
enough said.

There was no one more disappointed than me today, but you can't have a go at the team like this.
I actually thought we played better than last season, (In terms of possession), but we had no cutting edge.
There were some decisions, by Halsy, that only confirm my suspicions of a manchester v Merseyside conspiracy. Mirallas needs more time to settle, Vic needs to use his strength more robustly and we need to feed Jelavic more directly. Heitinga needs to be somewhere else and we need more bite in midfield. (ie Fellaini should be DCM!) We were out-muscled today. Plain and simple. We dominated but we simply could not match their guile. That's all. Losing Distin was the contributing factor to our defeat. I only hope we can bounce back.

Have too agree not the best utd team ever but better than the rest amazing what you can do with continuous investment and money for players that's why fergie keeps doing it year in year out

Agree0 Disagree0

Had he dropped fellaini back into middle and took osman off for jelly it might of been a Sid story. Any1 but moyes can see d fellainis best in midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Any side with vidic Rooney and Rvp in is not poor mate top players change games vidic block Rvp finish we just need more going forward to compete with top sides
