Has anyone actually had a bet - or definitely knows someone who's had a bet - on who'd become next Everton manager?
If so, who did you (or they) put their money on?

There is talk that Bill Kenwright could eventually step down as Everton chairman and be replaced by Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov, who is also the owner of USM Holdings, which is the company that owns the naming rights to USM Finch Farm.

So if you believe all the rumours our possible starting line up come the start of the season could be:

GK: Pickford
LB: Phillip Max
CB: De Vrij
CB: Keane
RB: Coleman
CDM: Gana
CM: Meyer
LM: Kluivert
RM: Lozano
CAM: Siggy
ST: Tosun

Not bad if you ask me haha. Interesting to see if any of those remain targets under Brands or if he has some different names in mind.

That’s a heck of a lot of new players to gel into a team.

bookies have brought Fonseca back in to 11/ 4 2nd favourite to be next manager.

It means nothing - bookies set the odds based on how much they stand to win or lose.
After setting the initial odds - and tempting the punters to place a bet - it’s all about the simple arithmetic of what’s at risk financially for the bookies in the market.
If someone started a rumour that Emery was to be appointed - and punters started lumping big money on him - then bookies would shorten his odds so as to re-balance their potential gains/ losses (their profit) .
Bookies are not “Mystic Megs” - their interest isn’t really about predicting the future, it’s about making a profit whatever the future brings. Do you think the bookies took a massive hit when long-priced Leicester City won the PL? The bookies laughed all the way to the bank as they kept all the losing stakes on Chelsea, ManCity, ManUtd, Tottenham, etc.

Would be great to see him as a coach back at Everton now he's left Millwall.

Some no-mark a55wipe by the name of Alejandro Moreno says in the Express Everton and Hammers fans are deluded and we think our teams are better than what they are. He says we have no divine right to expect attractive winning football. Of course we do. Every supporter of every club has the right to expect the best from their team. When it's not happening and it's mainly down to bad management from third rate managers we have the right to moan about it too. Rant over.

Agreed.
Everton fans don’t expect success as a divine right (unlike some clubs’ fans! ) , but we do expect our club to have a plan to deliver entertaining, winning football that aims to make us genuine consistent challengers and trophy winners. Whether that actually happens, only time will tell.
We accept that there’s no guarantee of it working, but we do expect the club to have a right good go.
For a long time (decades? ) , Everton have not been realistic challengers, but, during that time, other clubs have moved in and out of the top-4/ 6. Many clubs have had periods of mediocrity (even relegation! ) alongside their success - nothing is written in stone.
Why are so many media-pundits (and other clubs’ fans) so vociferous about Everton aspiring to be successful - are they really that afraid that their favourites might be knocked-off their perches by us - or anyone else come to that?
Everton fans recognise that it’ll take a huge effort (on and off the field) to challenge the currently established clubs, but if we don’t aim for that, then what’s the point?
I am all for realism, as it will be an almighty task to undertake, but I am contemptuous of this “know thy place” attitude.

Evidently Knows nothing about English football and Everton. He’s a muppet mate. He’s writing words on paper and has totally discredited his own work.

Sam Allardyce's parting gesture was to recommend a French football coach to replace him as Everton manager: The Count of Monte Bisto.
(I adapted this from a one-liner by the late great Ken Dodd. )
