Gary Neville is spot on. Clubs want to change ffp rules because a high percentage have realised they are very close to breaking the rules.

Yes, We have been the guinea pigs. It does make you wonder? There was a Barrister on the radio last week and he said that the Premier League had no sanctions in place for FFP. Apparently they have been referring to the EFL sanctions! He stated that no club can be sanctioned twice in the same season according to the EFL rules. He did say it will be very interesting to see if the Premier League stick to these rules. I suspect they will not!

14 Mar 2024 21:57:15
One Eds response is it is a different period. Is it true though that the 'different period' includes 2 accounting seasons that featured in the last period. If that is true, surely our Club could be sanctioned twice in the same season.

11 Mar 2024 20:52:57
Yes, Lineker got it spot on.

11 Mar 2024 20:58:14
. that was meant to be a response to the earlier post about Lineker's comment on Everton needing calm and composure rather than SD's 'you must hurt yourself to score'

RIP Jimmy lad.

Right for the rest of our home games I suggest we play a 5-3-2 formation.
Patterson-Tarks-Branthwaite-Godfrey-Micky
Onana-Garner-Dacoure/ Gomes
DCL-Beto
Get the fullbacks forward both can cross the ball better than the two "wingers"? We have.

Agree7 Disagree0

10 Mar 2024 16:49:35
Agree.

11 Mar 2024 11:50:27
why can no fans actually spell Doucoure?

even when you pronounce it you don't pronounce it Dacoure ahahahah.

11 Mar 2024 14:35:12
Does it really matter? Think there’s more things to worry about don’t you?
Oh and it’s not Doucoure, it’s useless fecker.

11 Mar 2024 15:43:57
McNeel and Arrison garbage too.

11 Mar 2024 17:19:17
Agree Woburn that changes need to be made and whilst all our opinions are subjective but here’s my 5 pennies worth.
If Sean and his coaching team had the ability to read the game in real time it would certainly help, although he did make substitutions early against United, its blatantly obvious the speed of play in transition is woeful and players need to undergo special reaction training to prevent the basic mistakes that gifted two penalties. Drawing on a golf analogy, If Tiger Woods can stop his 120+ mph golf swing before contact with the ball in a fraction of a second, both Tarkowski and Godfrey had the time to pull out of penalised tackles.
Godfrey is a square peg in a round hole, whilst his strength is his speed he has very poor positional sense in defending and offers nothing going forward. I
Why Patterson who is a much better option is continually overlooked is worrying. He provides better defensive play and the athleticism and ball skills to break and cross dangerous balls as does Coleman.
We are far too slow in our build up play, this was exemplified by Dwight McNeill constantly either passing back or cutting inside and running with the ball across the pitch when he had passing options, with players in space, but by the time he decides to pass the ball United had regrouped and closed down his team mates. I can’t remember him taking on Dalot on the outside.
It was drilled into me at an early age that the ball travels faster than the player.
I would therefore prefer to see the existing 4-4-1-1 team setup with a midfield of Garner, Gueye, Onana and McNeil with Doucoure in the advanced role, although he is nowhere near the form displayed before his hamstrings
Injuries, with DCL always my preference over Beto
Garner is then in position to cover for Pattersons when he offers an attacking option.
Dobbin should be given sufficient game time to offer an option wide left or AMF should the game need changing, offering more pace and directness to freshen things up.
It’s worrying that Sean is now saying that the under 21’s are not ready for first team consideration when our neighbours seem to have an unending supply of youngsters who come in and perform admirably. Questions need to be asked why?
I still feel Ellis Simms offered a lot more, in every skill aspect than Beto but wasn’t really given a fair chance even after scoring a good goal against Chelsea away in the brief appearances afforded to him. Yet we sold him for £7m and are spending £25m for Beto.
What is absolutely necessary, irrespective of our Premiership status, is that a complete and ruthless shakeup needs to take place, which may be forced on us and I hope Thelwell is scouring the various leagues identifying additions and replacements for a number of the current first team squad.

10 Mar 2024 10:02:49
Dyche saying he's going to work them hard on their little "holiday".
No practice crossing and finishing . Oh and a bit of pass and move might be good.
Don't want eleven Harrison's running around but producing nothing thanks.

I'll go with Linkers advice of "try a little calm and composure" over his rollerball tactic "you must hurt yourself to score" nonsense. Hope there's a pro striker coach wherever he's dragging them away to.

10 Mar 2024 12:31:30
Mate, the RS hired a special-ist throw-in coach surely there's a finishing coach out there. I wonder if the likes of Lineker, Shearer or Wright fancy popping in to finch farm a couple of times a week, or maybe Henry? what's Aguero upto these days? Maybe that's the role Sharpey should of had instead of a seat on the board?

10 Mar 2024 12:42:09
The whole Team are so wound up (not as much as us fans I hasten to add) everything they do is so frantic and there’s no composure at all it’s all done at 100 mph, no doubt all this negative stuff going on and on re points deduction must be having some effect on them, they have to cool it.

10 Mar 2024 14:58:17
Wouldn’t Rooney be the better call as a striker coach.
Should do it for free if he loves us that much.

10 Mar 2024 16:51:16
Sorry these guys are paid a lot of money to play football. Passing and shooting should be a given.

11 Mar 2024 17:34:43
Harley, I think Sean, Ian Woan and Steve Stone, despite playing the game, can’t see the wood for the trees.

10 Mar 2024 07:51:08
Ian Wright says Evertons composure and decision making in front of goal is letting them down. No rubbish Ian!

Garnachio is our new footballing nemesis.

10 Mar 2024 22:17:24
We’re our own footballing nemesis.

09 Mar 2024 17:11:34
We're not a million miles away. Most of the game was us knocking on the door but not having the quality or confidence to finish it off. I think one good game with a few goals will kick start it. Sorry for posting something slightly positive.

{Ed025's Note - i thought overall we played pretty well Bobby, but our final ball and finishing is very poor mate..

09 Mar 2024 17:41:08
Makes me wonder what our strikers do all week in training.

{Ed025's Note - well its certainly not crossing or shooting WT..

09 Mar 2024 18:45:19
Godfrey not a full back. Lad can defend but when he gets forward he can’t cross a ball. Yet we have two right backs sitting on the bench.
As for substitutes, yes they were made a bit earlier, but should have been made at half time. And as for bringing Young on when we’re 2-0 down why?

09 Mar 2024 19:45:09
Said the other day Patterson is a better wing back than full back, can also cross a ball. Dyche is old school set in his ways, no imagination.

09 Mar 2024 22:26:44
45 attempts at goal in the last 2 games and only one goal scored. we need a complete overhaul in attack because we are pi$$ poor.

10 Mar 2024 07:57:17
We don't have the squad depth to replace these prima donnas, that's the problem.

08 Mar 2024 09:35:07
Wouldn't it be nice to just once get a little bit of good news.

08 Mar 2024 14:40:56
Like three points this weekend - we are long overdue some good news like that.

08 Mar 2024 16:29:48
Now that would be really good news COYB.

06 Mar 2024 01:13:23
Ancelotti decided to make Calvert Lewin a basic goal hanger. stick close to the danger area and don't run around wasting too much energy. wait for the moment. and he started to score goals.
Sean's plans for CL are evidently different.

06 Mar 2024 07:13:38
We aren't in a position for any player to not run there socks.

06 Mar 2024 08:42:29
But we have a few that don't. You want your striker in the box not out on the wing.

06 Mar 2024 11:52:05
Worked for Lineker.

06 Mar 2024 14:58:39
And Sharp.

06 Mar 2024 18:38:08
If the 4th/ 5th best defence in the league can't cover leaving a lone striker to do his effing job and stay on the last defender and bust a gut to get to the middle of the penalty box whenever we have the ball, then that's pi99 poor. Oh hang on! "Are you not entertained? "

07 Mar 2024 10:13:39
DCL had one good season. No matter what system we play he’s had chances this season and can’t score.

He’s not the solution - neither is Beto

Unfortunately our midfield don’t chip in with goals either and we have no cash so get used to very boring low scoring games

We are creating chances and should have had a hat full last week.

07 Mar 2024 12:41:39
Against West Ham I was screaming at the TV Beto to get in the middle. No good having a single striker if they are on the wing most of the time.

07 Mar 2024 13:15:10
Winning is entertainment followed by not losing.

07 Mar 2024 22:39:35
Not sure what that means - I do know we are never 1st on MOTD though.

05 Mar 2024 23:43:49
First time poster - but couldn't hold back - that young lad for Coventry looks a real prospect - Ellis Simms is his name. Recon we should splash £25m on him for next season!
About time we did some good business (joking by the way! )

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Mar 2024 14:59:35
There's many a true word said in jest BB.

06 Mar 2024 19:11:53
I know he's bagged a few recently but time will tell if he turns out to be a premiership standard player, jury is still out for me.

Will Coventry make a profit? Of course, most youngsters we've sold or let go have moved for decent money, that is frustrating!

Did finances have something to do with it, I suspect so. It's the reality of our situation unfortunately.
