Whatever league we're in next season, a new manager HAS to be the number 1 priority. Would love Potter but doubt he'd come to us. Moyes returning, maybe. If Newcastle replace Howe, I'd try to get him here. going to stop now as my head hurts lol.

Massive win at the weekend, definitely lucky with a penalty decision or 3 ha ha.
I gunna say that if we win the Derby, if, then its got to be one of the most important Derby wins ever. Would be another huge boost for Prem survival and a massive dent into Liverpool title hopes.

{Ed025's Note - i just cant see it if im honest BB..

I'd take not getting another thumping like Chelsea. He who I'll no longer name made a quip about "2 wins in 3 and clean sheets" well it could also be 2 absolute a99 whoopings in 3. Anything less than a rugby score and something like a good performance but ultimately beaten by no more than 2 goals would be as good as it gets.

This season, we were drawing with man united, 1/1, player bust in to the box, feel over his own feet, ref gave us a free kick and booked the player for a dive, then VAR had a word, guess what penalty.

Against man city, 1/1 ball hit from two yards away, ref gives corner, then VAR com in and yes penalty, so we know all about VARS record, and for once it went our way, so suck it up and get on with it, afderall in the whole of the second half Pickford did not have one shot to save.

Reading the posts below I can't help but think Sean will be gone before the next season starts,777 or whoever takes us over the first thing they will want to do is impress the fans and a new manager will be high on their list, personally I would like to see most of present Squad gone just had enough of them bar a couple it's time for young blood, the books have to be balanced so the big earners will be moved on, bring in players who actually want to wear our shirt, I've had enough of this tripe and now at the end of this season is a very good time for action.

{Ed025's Note - i agree GB but the problem comes when trying to get these freeloaders off the books mate, only idiots would give them the sort of wages they are on here...so it wont be easy..

22 Apr 2024 14:21:14
Is there anyone you would keep GB?

I would keep tarkowski, garner and if possible branthwaite. The rest can go with my blessing!

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 14:38:54
We get gomes, allí and gueye off the books this summer anyway.

Branthwaite is great but £80-100m is a huge fee to help ffp and re invest in the squad.

I would also sell Pickford if someone offered £50m because as good as he is, you can pick up a good goalkeeper for way less, and a lesser salary.

I actually think DCL is a good striker but is wasted under Dyche and injury prone, again his sale would help ffp and get him off the wage bill.

Also Doucoure if someone comes in for him.

The problem is, say you bring in the best part of £160m for DCl, Branthwaite and Pickford.

I don't trust the board/ recruitment or Dyche to use it well.

I thought we had turned a corner after flogging some big earners but bringing in Maupay, beto, chermiti and Mcneil just hows how bad are recruitment team is.

The joys of being a blue haha.

Agree1 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 17:53:46
But surely new owners would mean a new board?
Gomes, Ali and Gueye means we are getting rid of three big earners. Two hardly ever play and one’s getting on a bit. Not sure we would miss them tbh.
I would let Onana go if we could get good money for him. But I would try everything to hold on to Branthwaite.
Need a right back, two midfielders and two wingers who can beat a man and cross a ball. NOT Harrison.

I imagine we will be going after the likes of Johnson free and brown hill free.

I liked the look of that lad for Cov yesterday sheaf. Thought he had a great game and looked like he cared. Joe Parkinson eat your heart out type of performance.

Give me those type of players of the current shower we have all day.

22 Apr 2024 19:38:23
Personally onana would be numero 1 on my list to sell. Seems clubs are willing to pay top dollar for him. I have to agree with carragher in that he's absolutely bobbins.
God dare I say it I would keep gomes on present form as we can't possibly sell all of them in 1 summer. Get rid of:-

Onana
Young (give him away)
Michael Keane (he can get a lift with young, I will drive! )
Dacoure
Idrissa
Patterson
Dcl
Danjuma
Mcneil (woeful this season)
Pickford (agree, can get as good a keeper for a lower wage)
Mykalenko.

If the new board were competent and targeted actual improvments to the squad, which let's be honest shouldn't be difficult. I'd get rid of most of the team, I don't mind selling Branthwaite as long as it is a massive fee, as he is worth every penny payed for him.
I'd happily take Johnson from West Ham at rb on a free, Brownhill, Che Adams also free. We also have to use the loan market far more effectivly and sign player we actaully will use haha.
Would any take Barkley back? I would be not if he had ridiculous wage demands.

{Ed025's Note - Ross is better off in a place where his past cant catch up with him for me ST, he almost imploded when he was here mate..

Penalties! the 'handball' has now been tightened (rightly in my view) so correct decision. The whoa is me after thought, after tackle, planting of foot showed intention to go down. The only baffling one is through the back of the lad and the ref claiming Young made ball contact made worse by VAR seemingly agreeing with the ref. Having said that though, we would have claimed all three. This has to have been the worse season yet for VAR, the Prem making up their own Accounting rules and PSR punishments on the hoof. After 70 odd years of football enthusiasm, Masters in his desperation has ruined it for me.

22 Apr 2024 07:03:00
Everton are expecting an additional 4 point deduction due to their involvement in the VAR penalty fiasco.

Defenders know now that they have to keep their arms to there sides or behind there back when trying to block crosses. Unfortunately Young is not a defender, he’s a liability.

22 Apr 2024 16:16:49
Oh yeah they go into block or tackle with their arms by their sides or behind backs. That was not a penalty.

I think the differences of opinion on the handball scenatii on this site probably excuses the VAR team from changing the refs decision. I am still not sure about it, as I can't seem to get my head around the handball penalty situation. Not sure handball would be given outside the penalty area though.

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 19:22:39
Actually dfs he’s right the good ones do. His arm being out prevented the cross coming in, it was a pen.

Respect your opinion mate (from comments done a bit). My take is his arm not in an unnatural position and ball hit arm ricochet. I don't ever remember tackling or covering with arms by my side or God forbid behind my back. Unnatural position, jeez turning into table football.

The victory today with the help of blind VAR was enormous.

We should have 3 winnable matches, and a 4 point lead on NF (and a good of +4 for us) . NF has maybe 2 winnable matches.

Luton his 5 point behind but our good is +14. They've go 3 mid table teams and Everton.

Burnley is 7 points back and a good of +18. They have one winnable match against Forest.

We may get a point or two back, and Forest may get a couple back.

Can I dare to be optimistic, or should I keep drinking?

A question for general consumption and discussion:

We have a number of loans ending and contracts ending. Holgate may show back up as may Maupay.

Of the players out of contract, would we want to sign any of them. Gana or Gomes perhaps?

It appears a number of the U21's contracts are up. Are any of them PL-worthy (as if all of our senior team players are PL-worthy) ?

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 07:59:03
Think he’ll let Gomes and Gueye go. Same with Deli and the other big earners. Young should be gone as he’s a massive liability.

Branthwaite and Onana will get sold.

He’ll probably bring in Woods from Forest and a few other small signings.

Think Pickford will stay.

Who knows?

Just watched the game again and have to say first half both were pens, second half looked a pen too. Young can't keep up with the pace of the game, it's absolutely baffling how he gets picked every week.
We needed that win today, but let's not kid ourselves this was still another poor display.
And for those who say just enjoy the moment. I can't, it terrifies me the way this guy sets the team up, week in week out it never changes.
Dreading Wednesday already.

Was that Andy Hinchcliffe having a personal vendetta against Everton and handball decisions? he was so wrong, hands in wrong position etc he's played the game and you know you cannot control every movement!
Best result is NFFC officially calling the var operative a cheat!

I agree they would of been harsh if they had been given but it wouldn't of shocked me either if they had been.

Think all 3 were pens, be fuming if it was other way round, don't like the handball one but in today's game it's a pen, other 2 no question for me.

We've had our fair share of poor reffing and VAR decisions, but again the integrity of the game is once again brought into question, made up for the win as a Everton fan but as a football fan the games full of corruption.

{Ed025's Note - spot on Mocker mate..

21 Apr 2024 20:53:28
Definite pens, but what goes around comes around and with the amount of appalling decisions against this season will take this win and happily move on,

Agree0 0Disagree

21 Apr 2024 21:53:41
Don't blame Forest for calling VAR out, but happy with the win. I'm taking it as payback for all the wrong decisions that have gone against us.

Agree1 0Disagree

21 Apr 2024 21:23:19
Of course GB, but to have 3 big calls in a game like that and not to even be looked at in this age of VAR and scrutiny and for Forest to pre game question the VAR official before the game with his alliance to Luton just shows just shows how much corruption is within the game that for me runs football, we all moan and have had our fair share but 3 in a game is scandalous and serious questions of football officials asked again.

The win more than likely gets us safe, anything from the Derby would be a bonus.

Was made up for Mcneil, you could tell with celebrations and team mates his personal problems have weighed heavy.

Agree1 0Disagree

21 Apr 2024 21:50:59
Don’t think the first 2 were pens - third one probably but would need to see it from a different angle to confirm.

However not sure why anyone is bothered as none were given and we came away with all 3 points.

Nice to finally end up benefitting from potential VAR errors as we know we’ve had our fair share go against us.

Think the tweet by Forest official account is ridiculous though - what do they genuinely expect to achieve? All I can see is refs being even stricter against them.

{Ed025's Note - take it from me Dan, all 3 were stonewall pens mate..

Agree1 0Disagree

21 Apr 2024 22:37:57
I think 2 were pens and one maybe (wouldn't have been overturned if ref gave it) . That said it this instance Forest are confusing corrupting for ineptitude by both PGMOL and reffing team. In the old days it would be brushed off as it evens itself out over a season.

Agree1 0Disagree

21 Apr 2024 22:49:58
Young is a disaster waiting to happen. The hand ball one would have been harsh but the other two he went through the back of the player or tackled from behind in the box. The guy is suppose to be a professional and even my five year old understands you’ll likely give away a pen for that. Stupid tackles, just utterly stupid.

They could easily have had two pens out of that. Dodgy VAR going in our favour for once. It takes the shine of the win completely. What a farce.

Agree1 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 01:50:42
The last was definitely a penalty and VAR should have overturned the referee's decision as clear and obvious error ie ref thought he got the ball but he didn't
the first could have been but is one that VAR should keep out of it as a judgement call, ref knew there was contact but decided there wasn't enough for a penalty.
the handball definitely not a penalty, ball to hand.

Agree1 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 03:28:06
First two were not clear and obvious errors however the third one was a stone wall penalty. Young is a liability and needs to be left at home on game day.

Agree1 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 05:48:37
Agree with WT, handball at beginning of season would have been given but tightened since so correct decision. The second, the lad had already planted his foot before he decided to go down as an after thought, so no! . Certainly both nowhere near stonewall. The one that was a certain was Young through the back of the lad, a blind persons dog would have sat down on the spot and refused to move. For VAR to seemingly agree with the ref is baffling. A truly independent regulator in Prem football is sorely needed.

22 Apr 2024 08:26:23
It's not really the point which 1 or 2 were and were not pens. All the same player and all if against us, we'd be screaming out for a rigged against Everton narrative. It's not something we need to risk with Godfrey on the bench. I know he's not been same since his leg bit I thought he was playing ok this season when he's been in team. I wonder what he's done to get benched?

Agree1 0Disagree

22 Apr 2024 18:26:55
I disagree Gingerdan. I remember klopp came out after the spurs game where VAR made a blunder. Klopp mentioned in his press conference that it was a mistake and perhaps the game should be replayed. It was him playing mind games and for the next month or so, liverpool seemed to get a lot of favourable decisions go their way. It was almost like refs were told not to give anything against then. Maybe Forest coming out with that tweet will have the same affect for them for their remaining fixtures. Just a theory.
