Know tranmere are back in football leauge would people rather see our young players go there on loan if they are going to leauge 1 or 2 side or somewhere else. I'd like to see them go there so go see them know and then.

pros and cons really mate, pros its only down the road and can easily go watch etc, but cons is that part of going out on loan clubs like to see their players mature away from home and make them into men by doing adult stuff ie living on their own and fending for themselves.

I would like to seee them go somewhere

a) where they will play
b) the style of football is decent
c) they have some responsibilty on their shoulders and aren't just "luxury" players.

Good point wblue I remember seeing Pennington there he always looked okay there and that looked his level. Also baxter who looked to good for that level and also George green he looked cut above everyone then other days I was told he looked couldn't be bothered. They need new striker as there best striker just gone Walshaw wouldn't mind seeing what sambou or even hornby couls do in leauges.

. so Hammers name Pellegrini, Arsenal about to name Emery and nothing yet from us. It looks like it's going to be Silva and I wish him all the best but I can't help feeling that once more Everton FC is not thinking big enough and going for second best. I mean Benitez, Emery, Wenger, Fonseca, Nangolen - these guys are all proven winners and would of been a step in the right direction in my opinion. to be fair to Farhad he's certainly splashed the cash on players, credit where due, but each of his managerial appointments thus far have been a complete failure, 1 feels he needs to get it right this time and all I'm saying is I think we could do a lot better than Silva and think higher and recruit from a number of proven managerial winners who are available!

What's to say any you mentioned would consider joining us. We may of enquired and been rejected. Just because it isn't in the rags doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Silva is highly thought of and imo a decent choice. We will certainly play better and more attractive football than we have done for past 6 months.

When Silva has been with a club that isn’t struggling he’s done well. He’s won leagues and cups. You could argue the competitive nature of the leagues he’s worked in but then the PL is an animal of its own.

Whilst I worry about the speed of the downturn once it started at Watford, I also am impressed by his record at such a young age. He has a good coaching reputation in the game. We don’t have to worry about recruitment as we have a new DOF for that.

He’s proved he can win things and is not afraid of the top six teams. (Beaten Man U and Liverpool) . I’d happily give this guy a go as at the very least we will see better football than least season.

So we are not hiring a Manager but a coach working under an experienced DoF. If that is what Toffee Ace and others are saying then the likes of Martinez, Silva, Howe fit the profile. The outstanding candidate though and a proven winner at this level is Benitez. And yes it is not a case of could but I would certainly say that Silva has won things but in Micky Mouse Leagues. He took Hull down and the speed of Watfords decline under him is certainly worrying. The quality and speed of the changes since Wednesday show that Mr Moshri is almost certainly taking good advice from someone who knows his/ her stuff. Hopefully Mr Brands even though he does not start until next week has given Mr Moshri other options other than Mr Silva and Mr Howe.

Theres just no winning here with whomever we appoint. Frankly It's pathetic!

There's cons to every manager we could appoint. Arteta - lack of experience. Emery - never managed in EPL, Wenger - stuck in his ways of 20 years ago and unwilling to evolve his style to a new premiership style, Silva - Down with Hull and went off the boil at the end of his Watford tenure etc etc. Let's just show faith that the club know better than us and give our new manager a fighting chance before the boo boys set out on another mission to get somebody out of the club. As for those whinging about the speed of appointment, isn't it a good thing to assess our opportunities fully before making a rash appointment just to be quick?

Personally speaking i think the stand out candidate and personal choice would be Benitez, he does wonders in the EPL and Newcastle will be a real threat next year because of him! But we just cannot bring him in, it's very well known about his demands to have sole control over transfer dealings and that would nullify our appointment of Brands. So my full support goes to whomever gets the job and i intend to give the very minimum of a full season to see how he gets on before i even contemplate criticism, it takes time to build something after all!

Agree0 0Disagree

22 May 2018 14:40:45
Well it stands to reason that if you hire someone of Brands reputation, you would certainly get him to work on the most important appointment we can make this summer. And indeed if there’s a better yet realistic target out there then I’m all for it. I don’t think Benitez is realistic though as he’s a Liverpool fan and has a job he can stay in if he chooses. Ashley is desperate for him to stay so I can’t see that happening. But I’m not against it.

There may still be a twist like there was when it looked certain that Arteta would go to Arsenal. Some new names being mentioned are Arteta and AVB.

It does look like the younger the appointment the more likely it will be more coach than manager. Well if that structure works then I’m sold.

22 May 2018 14:55:35
. the point I’m trying to make is that we keep getting told as supporters that the powers that be at the Club have ambitions of Everton breaking into the top 4, but the facts of the matter are that we havnt won anything or any silverware/ cups for 30 years? There’s probably a reason for this and as our club motto is ‘nil satis nisi optimum’, let's for the first time in 30 years show some ambition and go for a manager that has won silverware and has those credentials to help us achieve those aims and be the best, for me Benitez would be good but I will back Silva if he gets the job!

22 May 2018 15:15:51
Newcastle will be mid table at best next season. Ashley will not give Benitez a transfer kitty large enough to improve the team any further. That may be the one reason if Benitez was to leave.

And the reason for him not coming to us because of the transfer control makes a whole lot of sense.

I don't buy into this are new manager must be a proven winner tosh. Any manager is a risk and winning trophies doesn't necessarily mean they would be able to do it in the PL. Her's one for all the must be a proven winner fans in the last two seasons his team has won 4 trophies and two league titles his current team has win ration of 70.83% his previous a win ratio of 50%. Now these stats are as good as any of the managers mentioned and yet somehow I don't think many would like to see the proven winner Brendon Rogers as our next manager. How about we just let our management select the next manager and we just support them without whinging about who the haven't picked or considered according to the media.

Echo saying that although brands starts next week he is already hands on with the manager search as he wanted a big part in the process, they understand that silva is still not the only candidate with Bournemouth boss eddie howe also being spoke about, opinions on this blues?

22 May 2018 11:05:04
Rather have Howe than Silva for me. I think this is shrewd move allowing brands to have a big say in who is the new manager. The last thing we want if more friction at the club. Not a fan of Silva his premiership record isn't great.

Agree1 2Disagree

22 May 2018 11:10:02
it's hard to know what we want Silva is my first choice but I thought Koeman was the right man at the time so thatshows how much I know I will support whoever they appoint we have to trust them to make the right decision.

22 May 2018 12:44:40
will more than likely be shot down, but with brands looking like a very controlling figure I think Arteta would be great in a head coach role, would just need to be more vocal on the touchline whilst brands tidied everything else. it won't be him though.

Agree0 0Disagree

22 May 2018 12:49:23
I think the biggest thing was to get a real DOF and now we work down so next is the right manager/ head coach
Is Silva or anyone else right. only time will tell I would’ve liked Emery but I am not against Silva I think it’s harsh to judge his premier league record as his hull side were rubbish but he did well and was doing well at Watford prior to our chase. I hear his tactics and coaching are what sets him apart
West Han baulked at the release fee for Rafa but 6 million doesn’t seem too bad for a proven premier league manager.
Arteta is still another option

Whoever comes in has a big job ahead!

Agree0 0Disagree

22 May 2018 13:02:26
The two options you mentioned Southern are both no goers, both have said they want full control of transfer dealings, Brands appointment will rule both out of the running.

We seem to be moving in the right direction and hopefully will have the new manager in place soon.

Surely to god we cannot be worse than last season.

Would you take Zaha if the only way they'd do a deal was if it meant Lookman going the other way.

Agree3 4Disagree

22 May 2018 11:07:58
absolutely not lookman is just as good now and is only getting better.

Agree2 0Disagree

22 May 2018 11:56:24
I think they would take Bolasie as part of the deal so would not be too worried about Lookman.

If we are aiming bigger and get top class replacements in, would this push Lookman further down the pecking order anyway.

Agree0 3Disagree

22 May 2018 13:38:40
With Brands on board now, I can see Lookman coming back into the fold. He and some others we have out on loan are very good players, developing all the time. Martinez was good at introducing good young players but Koeman believed his own hype. Allardyce was brought in to do a job and told us from the beginning he did not have the time to nurse along up and coming talent until we were mathamatically safe. that's why this time we need a person that knows how to bring through and give confidence to Lookmans like and that person has to be given time and the supporters given notice of this.

Jesus ED01 is Wigan has cost 22 million (no disrespect to wigan) but it shows what a bargain the new Sunderland owners got 40 million if sky are correct that's a bargain for a club the size of Sunderland.

{Ed001's Note - Sunderland have a lot more overheads, are in a lower division and are in a lot more of a mess. They have a wage bill that outstrips their income by a large amount, whereas Wigan have a fairly manageable salary bill now. Sunderland is a huge risk and will cost hundreds of millions to fix, so it is not quite a bargain yet.}

I heard the new owner say yesterday all debts have been cleared and they will have a massive budget as far as league 1 in concerned let's hope they are the real deal that club deserve premiership football.

After reading on Sky Sports Arteta withdrew himself from the race for the Arsenal job because he wanted to have more of a say on the ins and outs at Arsenal. Have a feeling Arsenal are missing out big time. He has been highly rated by Guardiola and is clearly a man full of determination wanting to turn a team into his own. Hoping Farhad and the board consider him before jumping to Silva, Arteta understands our club and the work ethic that we like to see on the pitch. Just imagine seeing a fraction of the football that Manchester City played this year at Goodison next year. Hopefully some clarity on who’ll be the man in the dugout next season over the next couple of days.

21 May 2018 21:39:19
Surely he would have even less of a say here on ins and outs then if we have a DoF?

Agree3 1Disagree

21 May 2018 21:50:03
Not really my point CT I feel the man has been highly thought of by one of the best mangers in the world, he knows what is expected at Everton.

Agree1 1Disagree

21 May 2018 22:03:14
I agree he seems to be highly thought of but it’s kind of a moot point if the current structure of the club wouldn’t be something he would be willing to work under.

Agree1 0Disagree

21 May 2018 23:02:26
Is it an issue working under a DOF or more that at Arsenal they regularly sell their star players? And maybe Arteta doesn’t want to have his squad butchered without his say so
I am sure with Brands he won’t be trying to rip the team apart more trying to support the manager with the right playing assets for now and the future.

Expect various new manager links in the next Day or so, paper talk and bookies trying to attract punters.

I said last week i will be having a few Days to chill out and enjoy the fact Sam has gone.

Also said on a post a month back when someone said have a punt on Arteta which I responded with save your money and stick it on Silva instead.

Nothing has changed my view and fully expect Silva to be our next manager.

21 May 2018 22:59:52
With Arsenals twist today, I'd say we have as much clue as anyone. We all know who's available and we all know what clubs are looking for new managers.

Silva is clearly a favourite. Either way I really hope it's finalised in the next couple of days.
