Hodgson is a joke. Clyne is a really good player to be fair, the other 2 are beyond infuriating.

Same here millers stats on covering ground are second to none but the amount of poor touches were comical and I agree on sterling his actual ball to foot tecinque is awful he's that off balance with his left he hardly creates any power passing or shooting, 50m jesus

Evidently 3 fellas with Eastern accents and riding on Camels have been arrested on the Westbound side of the M62, they were stopping motorists and asking the way to Anfield.

Just a little observation I have made. Mori has come in at a time when both of our regular full backs have been out injured. Yes I know Galloway has looked class, but to think that Mori came in when Stones (the subject of interest from all the top European clubs) has been out too. He is playing with Jags as being the only other regular first team defender and has slipped in so comfortably.

giving the 2 youngsters cover and guidance whenever they have needed it. I heard he was slow. no evidence of that so far. Another poster suggested he was a beast.I would agree with that. The defence has restricted other teams to precious little opportunities of shots on goal. It has highlighted how Howard needs to be replaced with a keeper who comes for crosses.

That piece of the jigsaw should then give us the best defence in the league. This is the platform any team needs to grow. If we can get a younger version of Gareth Barry. maybe Tom Cleverly can do that? Then we really have the ability to grow and blossom. I have to eat my piece of humble pie and say I doubted that Martinez had the ability to put a team together, but he has certainly kept the right players and at last is adding quality to the team. I also feel that Blue Bill deserves some credit.

It would have been so easy for him to have sacked Roberto last season and lots of Blues would have been very happy at that. For once in my life, I am really happy to have been wrong. God it is good to be Blue sometimes!! I can foresee Stones going for 50 million in the next couple of seasons and then we can really strengthen the midfield and give Lukaku a younger partner to bash defences and score loads of goals. Happy days.

Good post DegsyP

I agree with it all, think personally Stones will be gone at the end of the season mate but let's enjoy the talent whilst he is here, he will certainly cost more than 40 million now though.

Mori looks class, there was only that idiot Vickers that said he was slow and he is clueless so ignore, as I stated when Sly Transfer deadline day was on, Thierry Henry said we have a talent there (Mori) he also said that he cannot see how the bigger clubs missed him as he is a great player, for me mate I don't need anyone else telling me what he is like, If Thierry Henry says he is class then that should be enough for any fan of football

I wanted Martinez out as much as anyone but I was wrong and will gladly admit it, only thing with us fans is that if we lose 3 in a row then we will all want him out again ha ha, its a results business and if you don't get positive results then expect negative feedback

good post degs glad to see you have come round disagree that stones will leave think something special is happening at our club right now as I (predicted):) at start of season also I predict a top four finish this season and a comfortable win at united and in doing so stones will not want a move givin the value of players at our club right now come january and a high position I table we have a real chance to spend big and go all out for me the adittion of yarmolenko and another top striker and we will have a squad capable of beating anyone now is our time :)

Roy hodson, is going to put liverpool back where they belong, no sorry, king kenney is, no sorry, brenden Rodgers is, no, klopp is going to put them back where they " belong".
They arrogance is staggering, the self delusion knows no bounds, and their seance of entitlement is gut churning.
The big club question, chelsea, arsenal, city, unt, have all won the premiership, liverpool, just like ourselves 0, where they get the idea that they are a big club makes you wonder what they have been smoking.

Its not just a question of the coach 420FL its the cattle you put out on the pitch. 300+ million in under 3 seasons approximately 25 changes in playing personnel, no consistency, no ability to build a team culture,no sense of stability or game plan.

dilakh2 'spanish Rodgers' Martinez came before Rodgers if referring to Swansea connection and anyway RM knows how to build a team by regularly adding extra quality each transfer window and bringing in great youngsters at the right time.

No panic buys no waste of money buys and both he and the team have learnt from last season and if you don't learn you don't improve. What have Liverpool learnt since Hodgson and the rest 'money and constant change doesn't win you anything!' and so it will continue

Klopp is a bit of an unknown. He's been at one club more or less and in a very easy league. The German league is similar to la liga in the sense you have two or three top clubs but then a lot of average teams. No one spends money except for the top teams and they always sell their good players.

In the prem every team will think they have a chance and can beat you. You can't rest players for any game unlike Germany and Spain.

All this is going to be new for him and will be interesting to see what happens. I like him but he is also a complete loon which may upset some at Liverpool as they've had it easy with Benda.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has been at two, and the Bundesliga is not really like Primera Liga at all. It was one top club, Bayern Munich, and the rest until Klopp took over Dortmund and changed that. If you can't rest players for any game in England, why do so many teams often do just that? This obsession over how great and competitive the Prem is has no basis in fact. It is more intense, but that is all.}

13 Oct 2015 12:43:00
I meant top club but I wouldn't hold up mainz 05 as success getting them relegated and then quiting when he couldn't get them up. He did get promoted and in the uefa cup but left when the going got tough. Pretty much the same as Dortmund.

I didn't say a one club league for the German and neither is la liga but you rarely get big teams suffering at the hands of smaller teams. In saying that who is really challenging Bayern?

I'm also not saying that the epl is the best in the world but the quality is similar throughout the league and because of that you rest players at your peril. Ask Rodgers he's been doing it this season and he's won how many? We had to do it last season and again suffered. Other teams in the Europa do it and suffer everytime.

I'm not saying he's a bad manager at either. I like him but don't be fooled he's this great messiah who's going to turn you into a great club again. He'll have to learn and quick!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he spent 7 years at Mainz 05, hardly quitted when the going got tough as it was tough from the start! Again seven years at Dortmund, the going was tough a few years ago, but he stayed there for years after. Seems a desperate desire to pick out faults that mate. There are plenty of faults there, he is after all merely human, but that is not one of his.

Rarely get big teams suffering? You will find, if you actually checked the stats, that it happens about as often in Germany and Spain, the only difference is the number of big teams, so it feels like it happens less often there.

Quality is similar? Really? I keep hearing this but it is utter nonsense. How many Norwich players would get in a top 4 side? How many Sunderland players? Etc etc. Rodgers did not rest players this season, I have no idea where you got that load of crap from. He was simply a clueless buffoon who still did not know his first choice team. The reason teams suffer is down to a lack of good quality coaching and lack of fitness on the part of the players. If they lived like professional athletes, like they do on the continent, in the main, they would not struggle to play two games a week. The Prem is over rated, there is a lack of quality, that is why teams struggle in Europe and then come back and struggle in the league. The coaching is rank rotten and until it improves, at every level, English clubs will continue to struggle and blame it on other things, such as the Prem being too intense, or too much competition or lack of winter break. All of it is just to cover up the truly woeful level of the game in this country, with clueless buffoons like Rodgers getting top jobs.

I don't expect anything of Klopp, I just want to see entertaining football and a manager who doesn't spend most of his time in a tanning salon rather than keeping an eye on the youth teams etc. Klopp will have a big job on his hands, but there is no doubt he is a thousand times better than the guy he replaced, and that is all you can really ask.}

13 Oct 2015 14:15:24
He did quit when he got them relegated do it was when it was tough to be fair.

Again he left Dortmund after a couple of tough years but again I don't blame him as they basically sold his best players.

As you said there is less big teams in Germany and Spain which proves my point in terms of relative quality to your league.

I watch Spanish football every weekend not so much the Bundesliga I admit but some and the quality is really poor in the bottom part of both leagues. I love Barcelona but they only play for about 30 minutes for the entire match then walk around with the ball. It's not like the EPL.

Don't take my word for it anyway. There are loads of former players and managers not just from our league but others as well who admit to the demands of the EPL. It's doesn't mean we are a better league but the style and intensity of football is different and more demanding.

As for Klopp I like him and think he is a good manager but don't think he is the messiah because of a couple of good years with a good Dortmund team and you lot are not looking for good football you are looking for success. I think Carlo would have been better because of his experience and recent success.

As for stats: German league: 18 out of the last 32 titles won by Bayern 5 by Dortmund (2 of them with Klopp) 3 Bremen 3 stuttgard 2 Kaiser 1 Wolfsburg. Can you honestly say Bayern has any major challengers to their throne?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - why would I say that? I said that there was only one good team there, I also said the intensity is lower, but the quality is higher there and in Spain. If you watch teams like Villa and Norwich play, they have no quality, they just play with a high intensity, they are woeful teams, a few years ago they would have been lucky to be in the Championship, let alone the Prem. It is a crap league now. As for Carlo, check his record, he fails to win leagues as often as he should, he has the best teams, usually, yet only wins the league sometimes. I would choose Klipperty over him every time. Whether I am right or wrong to do so we will never know.}
