So DM gets the boot. I feel a whole less bitter about his departure than I did before. I hope he gets a good job in the premier league as he's a great manager.

I always remember him telling SAF where to go when we beat United 1-0 at Goodison when Scoles got sent off. Big Dunc getting the winner and Moyes squaring up to the United dugout. Loved him for fighting our corner for us that night. One very proud Toffee that night.

He will end up with another nice pay out for failour. remember him for (1) being the longest serving manager, to win nothing, (2) for never wining a game at l/pool, unt, asenal, or chelsea and (3) when allowed to take over early at unt, breaking his word not to come in for our players. So the money might be good, but a good kick in the ego is some consolation.

Jcw100 nice positives there bout Moyes. Doesn't look like you appreciated him. I very much appreciated what he done at our club. Doesn't bother me he never won anything as he done an amazing job turning the club from bottom of the table to the top end of the table on a shoe string budget.

Not many has ever done that. Imo a harder thing to do than winning the league or even FA cup.

I don't take pride in being bitter towards other people and wishing them ill will. I hope Moyes gets a decent job soon. I know if I was a Villa or Newcastle fan he'd definitely be my number one.

NBTB, I wouldn't even bother with JCW tbh mate. I haven't seen one positive post from him on this forum, he seems to like to run down everything about the club down. If it's not the board then it is RM and his tactics (mainly after a defeat) , now he is having a go at Moyes! The man has had two other jobs since leaving us and people still get all bitter! Crazy.

Simply on the basis alone of bringing Tim Cahill to the club he deserves our recognition. Not to mention breaking into the champs league.

Spot on JCW, I will remember him as a manager who got us competing with Villa and Spurs for 5th and 6th, you know, where we should be anyway. Bringing in a few bargains. I will also remember watching dire Football under him, holding back better players for his favourites (which RM does too) , being a bigger hypocrite than Mourinho and worst of all, winning nothing. That is what bothers me more than anything, he had chances, many chances to do so and refused to go for it. His mindset was like we can get a draw in a cup final and come away with a point, doesn't work like that. Any manager of a Top 10 Premier League club for 10 years and wins nothing is not doing a good enough job.

Your right spudv. Shouldn't of bothered. What does bother me is people thinking we have this god given right to be at top of the league. We don't have any such right and if we're bad enough then we will get relegated. Just because its Everton doesn't automatically mean we should never be outside the premiership.

Look where Leeds are now. They totally went for it and it destroyed the club. Who knows if they'll ever make it back. Newcastle got relegated and we're lucky enough to get back up. Imo with an excellent manager who treated like dirt when they let him go. Coincidently he is top of the championship now.

When Moyes took over it not only was a possibility of us getting relegated it looked like happening. Moyes took over a shambled team with no money. Left a good team with plenty of money i. e. £28m to spend on Lukaku. Aw but wait he never won anything!

A joke saying that. So what exactly did. Tottenham win in the last 15 years? How many teams that were in the premiership when Moyes took, still currently in it. Everton is one, thank David Moyes for that.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think anyone thinks he did a bad job NBTB, he progressed us as a club at a time when we were financially at a low ebb, we took a chance on a guy who was frankly going nowhere with a mediocre preston team and it worked out well for both him and us, but i think it was time to move on and lets not forget that he was exceedingly well paid for the privilege of managing this great club..

10 Nov 2015 10:04:18
There's enough people saying he didn't win anything Ed. Talk about asking for too much. That to me is unreal putting him down because he didn't win anything.

I know he got paid very well. Do you not think every penny was well spent? Tell me, who could of done a better job? What you were saying about Preston is completely hear'say.

Fact is he done fantastic at Everton. He had his faults like every single manager in any sport. In any walk of life really.

Yes he was disrespectful to Everton after he left which I hate that he done. All he done with that was make himself look bad.

Club does need to move on. let's just hope Martinez turns out to be as good a fit for the club as Moyes was for 10 - 11 years.

{Ed025's Note - i hope so as well NBTB, opinion seems divided on DM, some say they would have him back tomorrow but not for me, we have to move on now and i prefer to look forward not back

10 Nov 2015 10:29:25
Having him back? I have to say I'm not 100% sure I would like to see him back. If he played a more attractive, attacking style than he usually did in the past I would.

He may have changed his opinion and style since he left. I'm sure he will move with the times and alter his style somewhat.

Martinez deserves time. I'm not convinced yet but wouldn't write him off either. He deserves a lot more time anyway.

I'd never take him back ed, times have changed and both have moved on since he left. Backward step in my opinion. But that is not to say we have to despise the man like some seem to do on here. It can get quite juvenile with some of the crazy talk some people post. Most of the ones that dislike him are of an age that don't remember the tougher times. Most but maybe not all. It is no wonder we get called bitter by the red lot, it is embarrassing some of the shouts!
Moyes was the right man at the right time, someone who didn't need to spend a great deal to get a team together, a man who didn't mind rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck in. That said, he certainly had his limitations. Not many managers can replicate their first tenure at a club when they return, we only have to look at our own Howard K to give that substance, KD over the park and Jose at the cockney russians also show us it goes wrong more often than not.
Just think people should move on from the whole DM stuff, he left us years ago and has had two jobs since! If he gets another job in our league then I will wish him well, up and until he turns up at our gaff then I want him to lose dramatically.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - i very much agree with that spud, as they say haters will always hate, i think like you its time to move on mate..

11 Nov 2015 10:29:31
Pretty much spot on spudv. Ed just one last point about you know who. You mentioned he was going nowhere with Preston. I said my piece on that was hear'say.

He was a good fit for Everton at the time. BK who deserves credit, took a punt on David Moyes. It was a gamble.

But here's my point really, didn't Utd want him as assistant at the time he was appointed? Didn't he also turn down some other clubs to manage Everton?

Seems plenty thought he was worth the punt. Fair play to BK he got the man and got it right.

That's all for me. It is time to move on and to unearth some manager to take us into champions league. Might be Martinez and it might not. Time will surely tell.

Just a comment on the sacking of David moyes. It does seem like their is no such thing as patience in football anymore. I know he was struggling but imagine where we would be if we sacked him after his awful second season where we finished 17th, over even if we fired Bobby last season, considering the reasonably steady start we have made. Don't think sir Alex or Howard kendall would be a success in this email. They may well have been fired when they were struggling. Just seems managers are not given any time to develop a squad or style of play. Anyway maybe moyes should come coach the defence and Bobby deal with attack.
