Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

09 Jan 2018 22:28:47
We all know we got a pittance for Barkley, but quite what Joe Anderson is hoping to gain god only knows, he chose not to sign last Summer, with only a few months left on his contract Everton did well to get what they got, Everton had the option to say no, they took the money, did the same not happen with us when we got Sandro, would any club pay an extra £20 Million if that player had half a year left on his contract.

When you shove a contract under Barkleys nose and say sign or you will be sold then chastise the player in public then we are part to blame for not sorting a contract out earlier and allowing it go into a final year.

Seems we have learned by giving Davies and Kenny five year contracts.

We ballsed up with Barkley and Goslings contracts, let's hope we never allow this to happen again allowing contracts to go into their final year

Good luck with your letter Joe but I feel we are partly to blame in our cockup and calling Barkleys bluff.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - totally agree baz..

09 Jan 2018 22:43:23
Maybe we should be a bit more stringent with buy out clauses for our top players.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2018 23:15:34
The reality is he did his medical in the summer, passed so but he walked out for reasons unknown. What he did was accept a payoff to sign in January for a lot less so he and his agent get a nice kick back.
What is ridiculous about the letter is that why wouldn’t he and more fool our club for allowing it. Nothing illegal happened, we should have said take him now in the summer or he’ll be a free agent next summer and loads of clubs would be in for him so if you really want him take him now, if you’re willing to gamble do that. Smart business by Chelsea, awful from us.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jan 2018 23:49:56
Sandro had a release clause so offer had to be accepted. Think the issues raised are with the agent rather than Ross or Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2018 08:00:56
I agree with 99% of what you say Baz but I'm guessing the club got a peed when they couldn't contact Barkleys agent for 6 months and had a gut feeling he wanted out as neither Barkley or his agent had enough class about them to be honest with the club so when they finally got in touch it was a take it or leave it scenario and we all know which way he went good luck to the guy as I want him to succeed as he is a local lad.

09 Jan 2018 22:40:54
I don't claim to be "in the know" but apparently big Sam and Garbutt had a meeting to discuss his chances of playing for Evertons 1st team. This is what was said.

Big Sam: “Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father. ”

Luke: “He told me enough! He told me you killed him! ”

Big Sam: “No, I am your father. ”

Luke: NOOOOoooooooooo!

Don't think we'll see him in the starting 11 anytime soon.

Just got the Everton blog on with the General meeting Elstone on the stage talking finance and of course the new stadium.
"We hope, in a year, to secure funding and planning, and to conclude designs, and then we are looking at 3 years to build on what is a complex site. If all goes to plan, we hope to be kicking off at Bramley Moore dock in August 2022. Committed Yes, Optimistic Yes but the enduring message is there's lots to do"

Too much to lose for the amount of money involved.

Both Barkley and Chelsea would lose more than the £10m each if they were caught. If anything Chelsea would of told him to run his contract out and give him a £10m welcoming handshake.

Let’s be thankful of the money we got, had Chelsea not come in, we would of either got £8 Million from Levy, or worse still sweet fa in the Summer, I cannot see what Chelsea have done wrong to be honest, if Joe wants to get the police involved Bill had better check his settee and find the Arteta money and quick, before he gets a knock on the door.

To be honest with the way our European qualification is regarding cups and league positions I think I would like to finish 8th, as I think that starting the season so early did have a negative effect on us at the start of the season and 7th just about guarantees a euro spot these days unless Bristol City pulls off the upset of the year.

Ed002 will this new player sign in black ink from a Parker fountain pen or a cheap blue bic pen? Fountain pens sometimes smudge so hopefully it’s a cheap bic.

{Ed002's Note - BIG HINT: As he will be flying in he cannot have a fountain pen with him. I doubt due to the rivalry with Liverpool that a Bic will be used - they are Liverpool's ball poin pen partner.}

In regards to this Niasse . it was only 12 months a go most on this site was calling for us not to sogn alencia because he came onto the pith worked hard and was apparently feat in the dressing room.

Not that I agree that he should of been treated the way he was by Koeman, Koeman got a lot of things wrong but he didn't get it wrong that niasse wasn't good enough.

Hope we do love him on this summer as much as he is a nice guy an all that. Are attack needs sorting out sharpish an he shouldn't be part of it. Ship him out whatever the price.

Everton the gear.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

09 Jan 2018 11:48:07
Hey Jimbo, Niasse is certainly lacking in some basic needs as a Premier footballer. His positional sense is wierd. His defending at set pieces is non existent. But he also does disrupt other defences. Particularly when coming on as a sub and his energy levels are quite high. He has scored a few and has set up a few. I think our problemlies deeper than just needing another forward. We seem to have an inability to push forwards in the numbers required to create consistant pressure. and when we do, the defenders we have are not good enough to cover without having 2 or 3 defensive mids to help. The goal we scored last week was great. But it was our only chancee and too many times this season we have played 90 mins and only created one chance in a game. That is not because of a lack of a decent striker. It is because of what I have said many times. We just need more forwards thinking players and ones who go up and down the pitch rather than side to side. Midfielders who score goals. Full backs who score goals. Defenders who get the odd one. Like we were 5 or 6 seasons ago. Nearly every player chipped in with a few. We were having 60% or 70% possession regularly and creating 15 chances per game. Even the best striker in the world will not score goals if no one is providing him assists. that's the way I see it. I know some disagree with me. But just watch the next few games and see how many shots we have and how many chances are wasted. which is not many. that's not down to needing a new striker. that's down to a weakness throughout the team. DCL has worked his flippin socks off and is always trying to hold the ball up. but no one follows up with him. We clear it to him and most of the time he manages to hold it up for a second or so. but then loses possession and we are back to defending.

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Jan 2018 12:27:24
100% agree with Degsy, I remember when we had Baines and Pienaar down the left both complimented each both attacked and defended, look at the players that have gone that were forward thinking players still too many passes backwards and sidewsys.
Tosun will need the service to do what he does best Sig needs to play in the middle and 2 wingers who will take on defences. we all have opinions about what team we should put out but I bet we are all in agreement that we want to see us attack more.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your dead right lee..

09 Jan 2018 12:28:20
If we play Sigurdsson in the number 10 we will have a far more effective attack. And Tosun will have closer support than DCL has had this season so far.

As good as Kenny has been at right back, Coleman scares defences with his attack minded running with pace in possession. Something close to that on the left with maybe Lookman then I can see us creating more chances.

We are creating far less now than we use to that’s for sure. But I think the answers are in the squad with maybe just a left back and a left wing needed if we’re not going to use Lookman as much.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2018 12:34:39
Fair assessment degsy.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2018 12:45:29
Part of it is also the age of players being used. Kenny, DCL and Lookman are fantastic prospects but their age makes them inconsistant. Schneid is so imobile and to some extent so is Sigs but with Gueye in the team there is little support to any forward. and we all know Rooney is slowing up. We need more dynamic players. Bolasie's return is good news but he is another with a poor goal return. 14 goals in his last 6 seasons. Less than 3 a season. We need more like him for running at players with the ball but our team is so lacking goals. A forward is not the answer. More goalscoring midfielders and defenders is the answer.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2018 18:31:15
Hopefully Degsy, Bolasie and Coleman plus an attacking LB will ease some of that. Would like to see us get Walcott too, he ticks a lot of the boxes were missing. Schneids needs replacing with someone like Rooney or another Barkley type player. Someone who can bring the ball forward, pick a pass and also drop back if Gana bombs forward. Most of all though we need someone in that midfield with an engine, who can run all game.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2018 18:57:23
I think Kenny will push on massively when he can understudy to Coleman, at the moment he doesn't really have anyone he can look at to improve his game.
When I was at Man Utd game I was standing in the entrance near the away fans trying to keep dry and noticed two fellas stood next to me doing the same, it was Seamus Coleman and Funes Mori, they both looked in good spirits so things must be looking up for them.

Last season was our second highest scoring season in EPL. Under Martinez was our highest.

Niasse has scored more goals this season that what pienAar, osman, graveson and naismith averaged in the last 5years with us. All between 2 and 4.

We all look at the past with rosy coloured glasses Degsy. You seem to just ignore all of the facts I've put up over the years about who scored what and which players were more productive.

Personally I blame the negative tactics of Moyes. However, all we have are the facts and actual events.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2018 20:38:34
Reading the general Doucoure and Mawson rumours.

Is there genuine interest in Doucoure?

I think he's a good player, his physicality is impressive.

I remember when he came and played for them when Martinez was still in charge at the back end of the season and i remember he outpaced Rom and shrugged him off the ball, span off and got on his bike.

Remember thinking who is this guy!

No brainer as an alternative to Nzonzi for me, as we need to get rid of Schneiderlin, want him an his bad attitude to follow Mirallas tbh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - for me doucoure and mawson are decent but not great JMW, they are not players who would greatly improve us where as nzonzi would mate..

09 Jan 2018 11:50:07
I agree Ed. Nzonzi is a stature of player who would also help on set pieces. We have been very poor at both defending and attacking set pieces this season. Especially when you see the deliveries Sig puts in. Any other team would have bagged a few points from his excellent deliveries.
