Even though I cannot stand the man (for obvious reasons) naismith reminds me of nick barmby in his style of play. Was impressed by his intelligant running and eye for a goal.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Obvious reasons?

Agree0 Disagree0

He means barmby, not Naismith..... Please keep up!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

My cousin up in Glasgow has said that the only reason we got Naismith is because we didn't put him through a medical. He is on a low wage for a year until he proves his fitness then we can either let him go or he is due a BIG pay rise. My cousin doesn't need to lie about this he works for the spl legal department.

Agree0 Disagree0

Although he signed a 4 year contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

To one of The repliers... We did do a medical because of his knee, we would not of signed an injured player who can't play and we spend lots of money on to get him fixed. A anterior cruciate ligament injury is one of the worst and in some cases can cause early retirement to players. Also we would check his heart to see if he had any defects... He also talked about his medical in his first interview and so did Moyes.................

TC

Agree0 Disagree0

I have heard the same up in Jockland apart from the no medical part, the medical showed up what could be long term damage so he has been signed on a lower wage with a big pay rise if he has an injury free first year.To the guy talking about him signing a 4 year contract I don't see anyone questioning that, all that has been said is that his contract will be reviewed at the end of next season. The reason Rangers aren't fighting Naismith's departure is because they couldn't afford to pay to insure him if he had stayed there. He will be a fantastic player if he stays fit but it doesn't look good going with his injury record.

What is everyone thoughts on the possibility of Naming rights for Goodison? Read on Soccernet (so not most reliable) but the R/S are thinking of selling the rights for Anfield.

Personally I think whilst goodison is great if we can't get a new stadium and new investors maybe this is the next big way of bringing serious money into the club. Man C sold there rights for close to £100million to Etihad who I know are owned by same family but still there has to be a commercial interest and with our links into Asia and across the world it is a great proposition for some businesses.

Naturally it is a controversial subject but just a thought - if we sold it for £15-20mill a season with £5mill to bank and £15mill to transfer kitty I think it could be the way forward.

Anyway interested in everyone's thoughts

MAC {Ed025's Note - how about..the edo25 arena..like the 02...only with a 5 added...its got a ring to it..;o)

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Naming rights is a one off not yearly. So it would be one off payment.

What a legend hibbert is, we should now refer to him as sir hibbert. Imagine if this opens up the doors and hibbert starts scoring belters from the right.
*against man u*
Baines swings in a corner but vidic heads it away. It only manages to get to hibbert he whacks the ball. WHAT A GOAL IN OFF THE CROSSBAR.

But I also have to mention Naismith. 30 minute hat trick, he is gonna become a star and also pienaar who got 3 assists, setting up Naismith. The future is blue.

Well done Tony Hibbert. You've put a huge smile on every Evertonians face. Not a typical testamonial goal either.... That would have gone in in any match! Superb!
Good all-round performance too. Some lovely stuff being played... A force to be reckoned with next season me thinks.

Watch out Premiership... The Mighty Blues are hungry and Tony Hibbert has started a fire in that right boot! The cries of 'SHOOT!' will be ignored no longer!

Maurice Edu is leaving Rangers. Moyes was interested a while ago.. what u think about him??

Leon EFC

Believable2 Unbelievable1

He's not good enough Leon. I have spoken to a couple of partisan Rangers fans and even they don't rate him. Same lads still think Davey Weir could do a good job in the Prem just to give you an example of how blinkered they are.

We've taken two and you are talking about taking another, that is 3 players from one club in the space of 8 months... {Ed025's Note - its called opportunism mate....if we dont get them...as sure as eggs is eggs, someone will!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Gers man here, still gutted at the thought of jela and naisy in the wrong blue jersey lol .... naisy is a guranteed success guys he never has a poor game due to his work rate add in his very intelligent movement of the ball and u got a gem .... edu is not good enough tho ....a very fit lad and will not stop working (similar to naisy) but unless all the play is in front of him he is hopeless .. he has poor vision and not a great decision maker ... u will ge the odd crackin goal out him tho .... overall verdict tho is he aint EPL level tho.

all the best this season tho guys got a feeling toffeess could hav a very promisin one u will have goals in ur team up front a have them in different players add that to moyes' teams workrate and its hard not to see a productive season {Ed025's Note - thanks for that mate...and good luck to the bears, you will soon be back where you belong..

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't like posting about negatives but I think alot of you will agree that Coleman needs moving on. It's clear that he lacks the skill needed at this level.

He has all the heart in the world but not the skill unfortunately. Sell him for a couple of mil and that would be good business.

Toffee ace

Believable4 Unbelievable2

If he lacks the skill at this level, how on Earth do you think is he worth two million? And don't say, for example, what about Andy Carroll costing £35M...it's about who at a lower level, i.e. Championship or below, could afford £2M for a player like Coleman.
Concerned Citizen

Agree0 Disagree0

Prior to his injury he played as well as anybody!.. Seems to me, that he lacking confidence! but not ability! I,m sure one good game and he will be back in the flow! personally I would give hime another year!.because his a attitude is good and whants to do well, So yes! give him more time........jmff

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you basing this on Ace?

He looked brilliant last night when he came on, two quality passes to Jelavic (disappointing again last night and to Guaye who again looked good in his substitute appearance). Yes he had a second season dip but the whole team struggled last season until post christmas, even toward the tail end of last season he started to look good.

Sorry mate got to disagree, give him time he will continue to develop.

Mike aintree

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he did alright last night in the testimonial, couple of good passes in the second half, more than what he did last season, so hopefully hes back to his best.

ewefc

Agree0 Disagree0

I dissagree with your post. I say he is young and only get rid of someone when you have someone better lined up. Otherwise you end up with a too small squad. Who is his replacement and when are they signing?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't like having a go and being negative either but - come on - he's no better than a div 2 player - he literally does nothing of any use - watch him - it's like having a non player on the pitch - if he gets it the most he does is pass it back to hibbo or maybe inside sideways - never beats a man - hardly any good crosses - most of the time he just gets it taken off him - if he can play for everton so can I!
It's not his fault but now we've got 10 other good players out on the pitch and we're pushing for a euro slot then moyes really has to do something about this right wing position - we have no threat from there at all - unless he plays naismith there - but I thought naismith was meant to play behind jela

we should sell him to blackpool where he played well at right back - a win win all round

ps I'm trying to like anichebe but I wish he would stop that 'spoilt child' face and manner he pulls whenever anything he tries doesn't come off (every few minutes) - it's like everytime he gets the ball he loses it or he miss kicks it or something else 'not his fault' happens and there it is again - the 'face' and body language shouting "I can't believe that just happened - I would have scored if only that (etc etc) defender hadn't robbed the ball off me - or if I just hadn't shot it 5 yards wide" then two minutes later same thing - then five minutes later another "can't believe my luck" hard done moment and the 'face' reappears - Vic - it's YOU mate - practice your skills and stop moaning that you're not first name on the teamsheet

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree! He is only any good overlapping and running onto the ball. Doesn't have the touch or strength with ball to feet. A good squad player but never a starter! If someone offered £2m i would take it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow. That got a reaction. I'm basing my opinion on last night and last season.

Two passes to Jelavic not enough to convince me. Actualy his final ball is too often poor. To get a good balance to the team you need Pienaars quality on both sides and I'm sorry but Coleman is way short.

I agree he got injured, I agree he is low on confidence. But we have to be honest when putting out a team and he is week.

Maybe I'm being critical here, just don't think he is good enough. If I'm wrong it will be a nice surprise.

Toffee ace

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2012 08:45:09
I know we're all excited by Hibbo's goal, but I'd like to say that Naismith looked quality last night. He looked like scoring every time he went forward. However, I thought Jelavic was awful; he kept drifting of into the wings, missing passes, making tame shots and wasn't getting into any good positions really. I know it's only pre-season but I hope Jelavic doesn't play like that against United.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

He'l switch on the style against United...
Toffeepidge

Agree0 Disagree0

I read a few reviews that he "drifted in from the right" what position and role did he play?

Agree0 Disagree0

1) How can you disagree to that? Naismith WAS quality and Jelavic WAS NOT playing as well as we know he can
2) To me it looked like Naismith was playing with/behind Jelavic so maybe he was or maybe he did drift in from the right

Agree0 Disagree0

I think those saying jelavic was rubbish need to think about it. for me jelavic looked very sharp and fit (he chased down a lot of balls against the greek keeper) and i thought his link up play was very good as usual. the only thing lacking was the chances for him to score as the play was mainly to slow for him to be effective. the lad is only just regaining his fitness and when the tempo returns in our play like it does in the league then he will continue to fire us up the league

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree poster above, but I still think Jelavic was not at his best or perhaps Naismith outshined him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Poster above yeah i agree that jelavic certainly wasn't at his best and naisy did outshine him last night. but glad you agree jelavic looked good and certainly no need to panic just because he never scored. would people rather him bang in ahat trick against athens then not score for 5-10 games. get real. the premier league and cups are where it matters. yeah it would be good for his confidence but he won't be worried and we shouldn't be either. he showed more than enough last year to show he isn't a 6month wonder

Anybody see the interview Moyes gave after the match? He literally blamed the fans who came onto the pitch after hibbo scored for spoiling his moment. How the hell did he work that one out? Mike

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I didn't see the interview but why are you posting this? are you trying to do a bit of stirring regarding the best manager in the Premiership?
Ste 1878.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes did say that, but he's the manager, he's got to say that cos he can't be seen to be condoning a pitch invasion.
Anyway I prefer Hibbos quotes...

"I think the fans were unbelievable, they always are, coming out tonight and doing exactly what they said they would do is special to me."

"I think it was different class with the crowd tonight. The fans here at Everton are special.  It certainly wasn't a riot, but it was special. There was great banter with the fans all night."
