A few players have been given stand out reviews today. Other than on here, i haven't seen many people commenting about mirallas. Personally i think he added a lot to our team today. So direct and aggressive but still had a few moments where he contributed defensively. I think he can be a top player if he keeps his head screwed on and works.

Funny you should say that because in the car on the way home when I read Barkley had been given MOTM by Sky I said for me Kev was MOTM. He put himself about upfront causing problems and creating but also as you said defensively he was good also.

Jagielka was man of the match by a mile. After him though was definitely Mirallas, great to see the passion he showed, great to see him play 90 mins for once as well.

Personally, I have always rated Mirallas. His direct running and aggression opens gaps in the opposition defence. If you think about it most successful Teams have at least one of this type of player in the side.

{Ed025's Note - i have never doubted kev,s ability BCT, but i do question his attitude and ask myself why cant he play with the same passion as yesterday all the time?, he is certainly an enigma and for me has flaws in his personality, but im prepared to overlook that if he can reproduce performances like yesterdays mate..

Got to agree with you guys I thought Mirallas looked the player he can be and we hope he will be more often, I just hope he continues to put I shifts like that every week!

Well done blues just wish we could have played like that last week and why can't Ross play like that against the big clubs?

I would have Mirallas every game. Still has pace, quality and effort. He creates so much. but needs regular starts to get confidence.

Seemed to have more drive and penetration with Mirallas on that form he should be starting.

Kev is the most inconsistent player in the team. Personally I love him and when he's on song there are few better wide men.

However, when he gets a run in the team he tends to stop working hard enough and gets dropped again. It's been like this ever since he joined the club.

Hopefully he's realising this but at 29 with his quality he should be one of the first on the team sheet.

BJU you may be right. But I sort of remember him being better 3 seasons ago. More consistent then. Maybe I wear blue tinted glasses, but the last 2 seasons he has been in and out of the team. Left on the bench. Taken off when playing well. and like I say his ability is never in doubt. So I have been putting it down to confidence and motivation. Perhaps he had to go through the pain of not being picked and a kick up the backside by Koeman to make him realise he needs to work harder? Either way, I think he has the attributes to be a top top player and really should be banging in 7 or 8 goals a season and frightening opposition defenders all the time. let's hope that Koeman has worked the same magic on Mirallas as he did with Ross.

Skylark. Remember the Everton Team of the 80's. Used to double and triple up in the tackle and against opposition danger men. Look at Liverpool, Utd, City etc! this season. In particular against Liverpool they had 3 surrounding Lucky everytime, so there's a clue why his and Barkleys like struggle against quality sides.

When the "Rom isn't signing his contact" story broke. Moshiri issued a statement telling all blues not to worry. At the time I felt quite confident it'll all be sorted in our favour.

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen any further statements from Moshiri. But with most media outlets believing it's now a done deal it'll be interesting to read his next statement on the whole affair.
