Have not had time to read comments from yesterday's game, however as a strong critic of young Mr Stones I hold my hands up and say that was the most impressive 90 minutes I have seen from an Everton centre back. Composure personified. Timing in tackles extraordinary, willingness to be on the ball endless. Bravo John.

So cool on the ball Sven, he will be the best in the world in a couple of years, unfortunately not for us though, hope it isn't Chelski either.

I hope you're wrong Degs.

His willingness to be on the ball, use of, timing in the tackle and pass is the reason why I reckon he would be best used just in front of the back line.

Duncansmum, but then we would lose so much in terms of attacking play. Not to mention him being our best defender.

Quite satisfied with season to date, even on a rare League Cup run.
A few wishes going forward. Better delivery at free kicks and corners even if we just clear the first man. Still think we lack left hand side balance.
Finally hope Besic doesn't inflict any injuries on our Irish players in Euro play off games.

Shocking Ted how bad corners and free kicks are, if you watch other matches it isn't just us either, that short corner crap seems to be happening everywhere, don't understand it me, take it short, come under pressure, pass back to midfield, under pressure again, back to the keeper, hoof it up, hey presto they have possession and we never even got it in their area, what happened to the specialists like Hinchcliffe, great corner taker.

Baines on his way back from injury, sometimes think we need to use him on all dead ball situations around the box. Also best supplier of crosses over the last few years.

Even Bainesees corner have not been that good for a while Wakka but yeh he is the best we have I suppose.

I'd say are best set piece taker is out on loan, garbutt for me is head and shoulders above the others.

I think he's struggled a bit lately Murf hopefully he will come back 100% fit and raring to go!

I hops so Wakka, we want the Baines before Utd came calling not the Baines who signed a new fat contract afterwards mate.

I'd go as far as saying since sheedy in the 80s the only two players to whip in a decent dead ball on a consistent basis is the hinch and mark pembridge who used to whip in wicked corners.

Oh dear looks like poor old Davey Moyes could be in line for another sacking. Grass and greener spring to mind here.

The only gripe I have got with DM is the disrespectful way he and united went about trying to sign Baines and Fellaini BEFORE he had actually left the club. Playing Devils advocate, Moyes probably identified players from us that he felt could do a job with them down the east lancs. How many managers do the exact same thing? Martinez done it with about four of his old players. It happens every time a manager moves to another club. If they had offered us proper cash instead of the sad amount they did, we would have let both of them join him in hell with the rest of the devils.
Swan, you must have been very young when DM first joined us. Believe me when I say he took us to another level compared to the dross we had to endure under PJ as chairman. That man took us to the brink. Big Joe done a decent job before falling out with him and Walter had his hands tied behind his back for most of his time but he did manage to rid us of that horrible hamper man. Moyes made progression with us, taking us from perennial relegation fodder to the lofty heights of the top 6 in the league. No mean feat that mate, takes some doing. So now the dust has settled, it's been a while since DM even walked through our gates, does he still deserve such a pelting? Personally, I don't care who he is in charge of but if he ever has to return to our ground with a team, I hope we give him a proper spanking and send him on his way with his tail between his legs. He hasn't done anything that can't be, with time, forgiven.

Moyes did a great job for us and transformed our league status, he had gone as far as he could at Everton, all top 4 clubs will try and sign our players he was no different, we really need to move on with the whole anti Moyes scenario, transfer window coming up Chelsea struggling just waiting for the stones saga to start again!

Never read your post earlier Spud, great post that mate and you are totally right that he deserves a good reception every time he comes back, let himself down with the way he left us and trying to poach players on the cheap but that's business, done a great job here and I admit I hated him for a bit when he left but time heals wounds and he will always have my respect for what he done.

AV never hated him 10 years of graft starting off with pensioners and a shambles of a team to were he left us, poor judgement on leaving but he still gave a 100% and done wonders with the foundations he was left with.

Would have Moyes back in a heart beat. Rather be consistent top 7 than top 11 which we are heading for under this bloke.

{Ed025's Note - i dont want him back DM, im not a massive fan of bobby either but the football was dire under moyes mate, i will remember him as a miserable sod who got us competitive but cowered when up against the bigger teams, he done well for us but moved on a couple of years too late for me, now i know not everyone will share my view but its all about opinions i suppose..

Overall, as a football fan, this season is proving fairly exciting with some nice stuff being played. In saying that the quality of the top teams is worse than ever. More worrying is that we don't seem able to capitalize on that drop in level. This leaves us in a peculiar position because the top 4 will soon become a top 3 and despite the lower standards it will be harder than ever to qualify for the Euro comps.

The whole league is average mate. But look on the plus side, the games are more entertaining, and anyone can beat anyone. Look at Palace today! Oops. Just a pity where paying so much for it.

A point on reflection was probably a fair result of what was a fairly flat game with very few chances. Got to point out what a ball from Gerry again for Rom, as I have said before play balls in front of Rom to run onto and he is lethal. On the subject of Ross, since Southampton his game has gone to pot and I agree with previous posts he maybe needs a spell on the sidelines and some extra set piece training. Just a thought, would anybody else try Gerry in the No 10 role?

I agree with pretty much everything there. Especially the point about playing the ball for Rom to run onto. I'd try Kone for number 10 role first. Him and Rom seem to have a good connection. Del and Rom are young. Still plenty of time to try Del there.

Kone has 2 maybe 3 seasons left in him. If it took off him and Rom be better to get the most out of him while he's here. Saying that Del and Rom would be an exciting combination. Even Mirallas and Rom. Good options to have.

How much longer are we going to persist with Barkley taking every free kick and corner? His execution and delivery on both for a proffesional footballer are abysmal lmo.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you jimmy. he needs a spell on the bench and someone to tell him that hes not the finished article and needs to improve vastly to become a regular mate..

08 Nov 2015 10:47:20
Barkleys free kicks yesterday were embarrassing, he is at best average when you look at all prem playerscand a lot much better . Yes he thinks he is mmuch better than he is.

I agree Ed025, people rave about him, me . I just don't get the point and wonder what it is i'm missing. Seriously I would love him to be this world beating wonderkid that some people think he is, thing is he's not a kid anymore and imo he's no superstar and when I watch him play he frustrates the life outta me. he's got to long long way to come before he's at the point to where everyone believes he is now, by that time maybe it will be to late Jack Rodwell springs to mind.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im desperate for him to do well jimmy him being a local lad and all that, he does have the talent of that im certain, but he needs to impose himself more in games or he will be the next rodwell mate..

08 Nov 2015 17:03:42
He's 20 calm down! He is a talented youngster with lots of potential not Michael Ballack.

Maybe you are expecting too much! Give him the chance to fulfil that potential. What the guy needs more than anything else is love from the fans. I'm still confident that he can be a top class player for us for many years to come!

Totally agree aflm78. I've said pretty much the same thing in a thread about Barkley below. Especially him getting encouragement from the supporters. I'm not sure I'd use the word 'love' aflm78. But encouragement, support, help even affirmation from the crowd I think would work wonders for Barkley. Seeing he's a local lad and all.
