I know there is a lot of games before our semi with City but we will need a 2 goal or more lead going into the second leg so the job really has to be done in Goodison just hope we can blow them away in that game.

Happy with last night's performance. On another night those chances would have gone in and everyone would have been singing roberto's praises, instead we got a draw and critics are back out again. WE ARE AN EXCITING SIDE, created honestly not from middle east oil money. We won't win the league but I bet we are increasing our fan base.

good post mate.

08 Dec 2015 22:02:27
Yea was just one of those games where the ball would not go in. I have given Howard a little stick on here before but he made 2 very good saves. Credit where credit is due.

Barkley's sliding tackle on Bol was a joy to see as well. As for Clevs shot, he was unlucky the keeper was on top form.

Really wanted us to win but it wasn't a terrible result. Sign of great things when we consider drawing with Palace a bad result. They are a good side doing well this season.

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Dec 2015 14:40:39
The point as us so-called 'critics' say is that being 2-0 up in games (Bournemouth) and then losing 2 points should not happen and drawing at home to Crystal Palace is not okay NBTB. Roberto came into this Club with big promises, first season with a Squad instilled with the Moyes method we finished well, second season we finished 11th and this season with a 'better' Squad we really should be doing better than we are. Proof of this is that RM has started using the words 'Phenominal', 'Excited' the same as last seasons poor showing.

Agree1 Disagree2

09 Dec 2015 15:10:11
duncansmum I have yet to see anyone stand up for Moyes on this site as much as me. Ed and Swan can certainly vouch for me on that one. The point I made above is that it wasn't ok to draw with Crystal Palace. I said its a great sign that people expect us to beat them.

Back to Moyes and Martinez. Martinez may be not the one to take is forward. I think the majority of people think we have the best squad in a long time. Martinez did add to Moyes great work.

But please give Martinez a break and most of all a chance. He deserves a proper go at it. It took Moyes awhile to get consistency. Any manager including Martinez deserves the same.

So for heavens sake support Martinez. As I said he might be the one to improve us and yet he may well be. For example Alex Ferguson took how long to win silverware at Utd?

Fair enough NBTB, I will give him until the new year ;-)

That's good enough. Better than before anyway. If we're in bottom half come the new year I'll not be impressed myself!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 12:33:11
Do you think this Kone over Mirallas issue could be down to Galloway being our only choice at left back? And Kone naturally will offer him more protection than Mirrallas would? Meaning that Mirrallas is being kept for when baines is fully fit? To make our left side just as terrifying as our right? Really hope this is the case!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Dec 2015 12:51:12
I wasn't overly impressed with Baines when he came on last night. I know he is not match fit but he was caught out of position quite a few times. He is not ready to replace Galloway just yet. Mirallas is out of here in January.

Agree4 Disagree2

08 Dec 2015 14:18:18
Actually agree with 1940Mike, Baines has never been a good defender he is more a wing back that is in the team for his delivery which since his first spell out has not been that good. Our best left sided defender/wing back is currently out on loan.

Agree3 Disagree1

08 Dec 2015 15:00:23
Is it just me that sees Galloways weaknesses, I don't want to knock the lad because he has done well. But he is reluctant to cross the ball and I can see other teams target that side as a weakness. He is young and learning but I think he is a CB and reminds me of when Stones played right back. So hopefully those two will be partners for years to come. Get Baines back fit and get the threat down that side again like bainarr. Maybe Mirrallas to replace piennar. And next season Garbutt will be ready to step up. If we can have that threat on either wing and Rom leading the line. The future looks good.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 19:09:55
Actually I would like to see Galloway at left-back and Baines at left-midfield or whatever the position is called these days. This would make a much stronger defense and attacking combination than the Galloway and Kone one.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 19:16:49
We could have a really exciting team over the next couple of years if we can keep them together. I think Howard may go back to the States at the end of the season and Jagielka and Barry will still be in the side next season.
Robles 25
Coleman 28
Stones 21
Galloway 19
Garbutt 22
McCarthy 25
Deulofeu 21
Barkley 22
Mirrallas 28
Lukaku 22

And it does look like Mirrallas might go but I would love to see that team. We have some really good young defenders and Mori looks good. Maybe a new keeper and if Mirrallas does go Roberto to find another Geri for the left side. We need a decent backup for Lukakuu.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 20:44:53
Robbie, you do realise you are missing one player in that team?

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 05:34:03
Cleverley was the missing one sorry. And hopefully a few of our youngsters like Ledson to add to that but some do not make the grade as we all had expectations of George green.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 08:42:02
Hope one or two make the grade because George Green is now playing for Ossett Albion, released from Oldham after only a few months, such a shame but for that to happen the lad must have a bad attitude about him, it all starts to make sense why he didn't make the grade.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its not easy for these young lads gibbo, living away from home usually and with the pitfalls that come with being in the spotlight, there is great expectation and pressure that a lot dont cope with mate and george is just one example of that..

09 Dec 2015 09:23:53
Plus I don't think Ryan Ledson is stupid enough to do what George Green did.

On Galloway, Robbie, think everyone knows he can't go forward, to be fair, he is a Centre Half. My worry isn't teams targeting him, it's the lack of support our left back gets. Galloway has done very well because he's a good defender, Baines, is not, Garbutt seems a healthy combination of both players qualities without their weaknesses.

The issue with dropping Kone is it makes Rom go back to being isolated up top and having to handle 3 or 4 players by himself. Kone opens up space for Rom to run in to and have less to do. Straight 4-4-2 would do me, drop Ross or Macca, Mirallas and Doofy Loofy on the wings. Rom and our Ivorian prince up top. Of course this won't happen but meh.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 15:06:06
Robbie I see weaknesses in Galloway too and think Baines is a much better player at left back. Galloway is still developing and i've no doubt he'll become a very good centre half. Baines is the finished article, his defence play could be much better but his distribution is 1st class. He can turn defence in to attack with 1 pass straight to a strikers feet. His passing accuracy too Lukaku on Monday was very good. He can hit the ball with power low through the midfield and take out oppositions midfield. Not many wing backs have this skill.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 18:49:08
Besic would be another obvious one for me in that team. Hope to god he gets a proper chance again.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the thing is NBTB...who would you drop for him?, macca is 1st choice DM, barry has been excellent, ross is our most creative and clevs was top class against palace, its a tough one mate..

09 Dec 2015 19:41:24
Drop Macca, Besic can do McCarthy's job but has good ability on the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 19:28:25
I agree Ed, I know its tough. I just think its an awful shame. I love the type of player Besic is. He'd run through a brick wall for Everton from what I've seen. a lot to offer.

I'll give you another one Ed, you never mentioned Gibson. I really like Gibson too. Imo Gibson would be our first player in that position if he kept injury free. He's quality I think and is a good all rounder.

Anyway its brilliant to see strength in depth. Besic was never tried at centre back either which he has apparently played before he came to Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - were strong there as well NBTB...can he play in goal?.. :)

09 Dec 2015 19:40:12
I'd loan him out if I could Ed. Wouldn't like to lose him or Gibson for that matter. Barry has been excellent but his retirement is just around the corner. And I hate to bring it up but there is a chance McCarthy could leave for a supposedly 'bigger' club.

If or when the above happened I'd like to have Clev, Besic and Gibson. Would save investing in that area. The money could be used to strengthen an area that needs it more.

O yea Barkley also would be added to the above 3 in that position.

09 Dec 2015 21:53:45
Yes, yes Ed. That's the best idea I've ever heard on this site, Besic for Goals! A wait, wouldn't that be totally taking the piss of. Joel. Only Joel really. No other person was mentioned in this ad 😋.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dead proud to see Rooney there last night. I'd be gutted if one of our first team was turning up at old Trafford.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 20:47:32
funny that Avro, if anyone still wonders about him being a Blue then that should answer it, it was just money and we all would have done the same, little snippet from a utd supporter to give us a giggle below

Shocking behaviour from a United Captain. Injured or not. Did Roy Keane go to watch Forest the day before United played a big game? Did Robson go to West Brom the day before a United big game? Did Vidic go to Moscow. this list goes on, the answer to all those questions is a big fat NO. First chance he had to go back to Everton he had the Shirt on in the summer. Bad example to set. Not United Captain material. there's a big game on tonight which he should have taken his son to watch.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - bizarre comments as none of those players supported the teams mentioned, so why would they go and watch them play?}

08 Dec 2015 20:54:18

08 Dec 2015 08:28:17
Anyone else notice as the team came out second half Mirallas was stood by the tunnel shaking players hands patting backs and encouraging, not really the sign of a player that is not happy with the team?
I'm beginning to wonder what this guy has to do to prove he is worth some game time?
RM plays Kone value £2m? out of position and leaves this lad value £15m on the bench?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Dec 2015 09:29:29
Mirallas is a moody git. but obviously a very gifted winger/forward. His defensive qualities are on a similar level to Del Boys. But I agree that his talents are being wasted and if we are not going to use him we should sell on. Although Del Boy has contributed greatly this season, he is still a very improving player. The Kone tactic worked in a couple of games but now it is time to shake things up again. Mirallas in for Kone is the obvious choice or even give Del Bloy a rest. More importantly to me is the fact that we have yet again played really well and been caught out by a set piece lumped into our box and their was no leader organising the defence. At the same time we had numerous opportunities at the other end to score from the corners we ammassed from really good creative play. For 3 seasons we have finished below where we should have because we have drawn games that we should have won due to our inability to score with our cornersand conceded at the other end from other teams corners. I suggest RM GETS THEM PRACTICING CORNERS AT BOTH ENDS 2 DAYS A WEEK!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 09:53:19
In fact we had 13 corners and they had 6. How many did we look like scoring from? 4 seasons ago Baines was taking all our free kicks and we were often scoring from corners and free kicks. We have played 15 league games and a few cup games and I believe we have scored from 1 corner in all competitions.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 08:25:31
I agree with a lot of posts on here in respect to last nights game, I think the overall performance was good and on so many other days it could have been 3-1 but for the woodwork.
What I felt was wrong was that although we played and built up well it was all down the right hand side, with Coleman and Deulofeu the main providers, although Galloway has played well the introduction of Baines gives us a more natural wide provider. What RM needed to do was link the play and introduce Mirallas or Lennon, as I just feel Kone is not a comfortable in this wide left position. It would have then I believe created more for Lukaku and Barkley in the centre.
I thought should we be looking long term in this position Bolasie looks nailed on, works hard for the team and a constant threat.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Dec 2015 16:03:43
The reason he plays Kone is that he appears comfortable using both feet and can cut inside whereas Baines wastes time trying to keep his left sided play free.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 07:51:11
I thought everyone had a really good game. It was a good match to watch. on another night we would have won by two goals. Don't know why we didn't put a man on the post. You have to defend corners and set plays differently against teams like palace who are big and strong and win lots of balls in the air. But as I keep saying we are a young side and the lads will learn from each game .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

08 Dec 2015 08:44:50
Lovely football is all well and good but it has to be built on solid defence, once that is done you can then pressurise the opposition and give yourself more chances. I think Roberto is in danger of believing all the hype and plaudits of commentators. The team played well last night but when players got tired, Kone for instance, Roberto and/or his advisors just could not see it. I still believe RM is not the man for us but I am willing to be proved wrong. I love this Team.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Dec 2015 06:05:20
Special mention to Tom Cleverley who I thought was excellent last night. What moron called him the worst Footballer of all time. Oh right, well there's no point naming names at this late stage. Had more good games for us already than McGeady.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

08 Dec 2015 08:12:55
Well said Swan, I may have been alongside you when we were calling him that name too, also a particularly special Ed too, we are all allowed our mistakes, as long as we admit when we are wrong.

Should have backed my bet Blues, £10 Lukaku last goal @ 4/1, had that a few times this season, pity my gee gee's only have 3 legs though as this just evens things up, in William Hills favour that is lol.

Agree6 Disagree0

08 Dec 2015 17:27:09
Yea Clev played very well. Never understood why he got so much stick. He was obviously told to play in a certain way. When Sherwood took it changed Clev completely and he's never looked back. Shrewd one by Martinez.

Ed is Besic still alive? He came on for last 10mins of the Ireland Bosnia match. That's what, 3 weeks ago. Surely fit to play?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you would think so NBTB, maybe he cant get in the side, we are very strong in that area mate..

08 Dec 2015 20:50:34
I don't mind Osman being in the squad but surely Besic deserves a chance to get in the squad at least. When he got injured he started that game for Everton.

I know were strong in that area but will he ever get a chance? I mean with McCarthy injured and he still didn't make the squad. Good player if allowed to develop imo.

{Ed025's Note - i like him as well mate, but im not the manager..unfortunately.. :)
