I hope that Bainesy isn't played against villa unless he's somewhere near 100% fit, it would be better to leave him out for a match than risk losing him for weeks or even months.

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - im sure the backroom staff know what they are doing bez

everyone hoping were gonna go 442, sorry think your gonna be dissapointed, we only have 2 real tested strikers ( saha denis) and he will not start with both as he will always leave 1 on the bench

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I agree, it looks like we are short of attacking options for saturday.Moyes is more likely to play 4-4-1-1, with cahill or osman behind saha and maybe denis and velios getting a run out as subs. I can't wait to see drenthe and barkley play on saturday. I am optimistic about a good result

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - me too....2-1 everton....

Feels like a long time since the blackburn game, with the international games taking place. And although we had a poor performance against blackburn i'm really looking forward to this one. Reckon we will win too. {Ed025's Note - we will beat villa..then wigan...this will put us in the top 6..and hopefully we will stay there..

I don't think royston is match fit but i live in hope

Chelsea, Man City and to a lesser extent Liverpool (second time of asking) are the 3 clubs in the premiership that have been bought out by owners who have invested in players.

Liverpool (first time of asking), Pompy, Villa, Newcastle, West Ham, Blackburn and QPR have all been bought out by owners promising to spend but that have never delivered.

The common factor linking all these is the owners have strived to earn European places as that is the 1 biggest way to increase a clubs revenue and global image.

By the time the next transfer window opens we will be into 2012. The starting point for the UEFA Financial Fair Play Rules.

If Kenwright does decide to sell out now or even attract an investor the club has to break even in it's spending or be banned from European competition. This means if we do get a new owner there will be faced with 2 options. Carry on the way we are going until income streams can be increased or invest on the pitch and be unable to compete in Europe.

Either way how will we be able to sign players with a restricted wage budget or no European compertition. Think Bill has finally screwed us beyond repair (short term at least). {Ed001's Note - you don't have to break even yet, plus one big spending spree followed by a gradual reduction and proof of willingness to reduce costs would be more than likely to be acceptable.}

Another stitch up by fergie et al

They'd boxed everything off on the champions league front so that the cosy club of 4 would be at the top forever - when up stepped the Sheik and thrust city into the picture.
Did Fergie et al NOT LIKE THAT!
So they came up with some new rules to stop it happening again and to stop City outspending United now and in next few years.

Basically all the rules are designed in Fergie's bathroom as he's taking one - wondering how he and Manu can dominate everything for a million years -
United have the biggest worldwide support (because they're winning everything) hence they have more money - hence they can outspend everyone else - hence best players - hence they keep winning everything - and increasing their fan base - etc etc ad infinitum

What Fergie doesnt want is more Sheiks popping up and taking part in the big willy wallet competition with other clubs (such as nice little no threat Everton)

Why doesnt Fergie just draw up new rules with UEFA chums that says everything must be won by them forever and a day? They may as well.

It's like Moyes said - "You generally finish in line with your wage bill"
It's just a business game these days. Yawn.
The best players no longer see their route to success as winning stuff with their main 'career' club - they are all just using football clubs to get as far up the career ladder as they can. The best players just aim to join Utd or City or Chelsea these days - not win things with 'smaller' clubs like Everton.

Fergie n his mates have just designed a system that only lets them win anything.

Even a really good manager and a good club like Everton cant compete against a club that spends 10 times more on wages.

We need some new rules.

Fans of other clubs need to start complaining about the way the league is structured now - otherwise we may as well just get used to 2 or 3 clubs winning everything forever - with no one else getting a look in.

Just need to do what City have done and announce some huge sponsorship deal by the owners as its classed as revenue and so yourable to spend big off the back of it!
The new fifa rule is b****cks in that sense!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed the rules apply starting 2013 I have the 91 page document infront of me. This takes into account 2012- 2013. Over the 2 years a club is allow to make a deficit of no more than 5m. (but can opt to use 2011 figures if beneficial). Then 14 it the 3 most current figures so even 1 big spending spree in next window (Jan 2012) would result in our exclusion from Europe in the years 2013 and 2014. Then we would have to start breaking even with the increased wage bill before being allowed back into Europe. But how can we increase revenue without Europe? {Ed001's Note - I know exactly what the rules state, but the feeling amongst clubs, such as City and Chelsea, is that UEFA will just give a slap on the wrists initially. As for ways to increase revenue without Europe, the two Manchester clubs provide excellent examples, United by increasing stadium capacity and most importantly filling the new stadium and secondly City's complete regeneration of the area surrounding their stadium. The regeneration of the area surrounding the stadium could be done in conjunction with Liverpool, creating an increased income for both clubs with costs shared without the shared stadium issues. Other than that really success on the field is the only real way to increase revenue.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand the concern about the new rules but you really need to stop looking at new owners as just men who turn up and write a few cheques. The new owners who succeed are the ones who come in and overhaul the business side of the club. Everton need a new stadium to compete on that level and lack of suitable sites along with red tape is what's putting buyers off.

Look at Utd, they service an £800million debt, still invest heavily in players, are ready for the new rules AND the owners have managed this on a personal investment of £0! {Ed004's Note - Manchester United is not in 800 million debt, it is more than half that atm in time}

You said liverpool(first time of asking) were not given any money by the american owners?? rafa spent an absolute fortune of their money

According to my very rough calculations on money we have received/saved on the following:
Arteta (sale) £10m
vaughan(sale) £2m
Yak (sale) £2.5m
Beckford(sale) £4m
Yobo(Loan fee) £750k
Arteta wages(75k per wk) £3.9m
Yak wages(50k per wk) £2.6m
Yobo wages(50k per wk) £2.6m
Vaughan wages(20k per wk) £1m
Beckford wages(30k per wk) £1.5m

This equals roughly £31m

Take off:
Drenthe (40k per wk) £2m
denis S (40k per wk) £2m
Loan fees for above(guess) £2.5

That leaves a balance of £24.5m that could come off the total debt just for this year (assuming we dont buy anyone until next summer's transfer window). This represents if not 50% off the ldebt we owe.
Hopefully this may make us a better prospect for potential buyers. Any thoughts?

Nice note - plus traitor peinaar money!

plus we save a bit on interest

things should definitely be looking better on the financial front.

When are the next accounts out?

Evertonians must be the best informed supporters when it comes to football club accounts! Half our interest goes into that side of things whereas most fans probably dont give a monkeys! :)

The left flank of that team looks the business with baines and drenthe, drenthes pace will be a real asset this season {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

We have needed a pacy winger for ages and it looks like drenthe will fit the bill. We have been linked with a move for muntari in January, what do you think ed??

Bez the blue {Ed001's Note - about Drenthe or Muntari? I am not a fan of Drenthe, he has the ability to be a star but he has never become one, that is a worry for me. As for Muntari, it is unlikely, unless he is willing to take a huge wage drop.}

Nobody has to do anything to compromise the credibility of this protest. It didn't have any credibility in the first place.

Kenwright and his management team have been the soul reason why Everton Football Club survived in the post-Johnson era. They inherited a club massively in debt, with sub-standard players regularly involved in a relegation battle.

They have produced a first team squad of real quality, even if it is small. For evidence of this look at the results the club has had over the past five years.

If you really think any club has a divine right to success, then you are simply being naive. No club automatically deserves success. Even Everton with fans as knowledgeable as the Blue Union.

If you think that fans of a football club have the right to demand the main shareholder of that club spend all their own money, then I would ask what gives anyone the right to demand that?

You say you want the CEO to be left to concentrate on running the club on a sound commercial footing. That is an admirable sentiment. It is also what the current CEO does on a daily basis. It is why he was recruited in the first place when he could have earned a lot more money by staying in private practice in a big 4 accountancy practice. Ofcourse, Kenwright recruiting such a capable, high profile CEO was probably just an oversite by an owner who obvioulsy wants to drive the club into the ground!

The fact that the club management wanted to move away from Goodison Park, and that a vote of eligible supporters went against your wishes, does not give you the right to think you speak for the majority of fans. Get over it. The move did not happen anyway, so you don't have to spend time fretting any more OK.

Get real. Support the club rather than creating an air of despair and discord. If you want to know how you are affecting the club read what Sharpy said about negativity from fans on the club website.
