That's a game we would of lost last season so don't get too downhearted blue's!
1st half we had to battle with a struggling team who were playing to try and stop us from playing our flowing football.
2nd half Moyes rightly changed Heitinga for Distin and changed formation putting Fellaini in midfield and Mirallas upfront with Jelavic, we then hammered Wigan and were unlucky to only get a draw.
The football we played in the 2nd half was very good.
Take the point, we stay in 3rd and move onto QPR. Baines in unplayable when he plays like he did yesterday, easily the best left back in europe on current form.
Hibbert and Gibson will be back after the international break and we need them in the side, were good going forward but them two make us more solid defensively.

Totally agree although we were unlucky not to win the game but happy with a point we struggled first half and an away point against a side that payed there best game so far is not a bad result remember this side beat utd arsenal and should of beat Chelsea back end of last season, Gibson makes our team complete and balances everything it's like he has everyone on a string it's a shame players like him don't get the credit they deserves by the way Jelavic will score 20 league goals for us but who was the last player to do that

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellini as been found out up front reid of est brom showed how to mark him just nip in front hes impossible if you stand behind simple moyes play him back in his best role dont be stubborn like in the past we have merriles to play there every goal fellinis got hav been from set pieces any way so it wouldnt have any less effect playing him in his natural role

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with both posts. Gibson completes the midfield and allows the likes of Pienaar, Osman and Mirallas to play in front of him and when the full backs get forward he has the energy to cover them. Also agree with Hibbert being in the side, yes Coleman offers a great threat going forward than Hibbert does and probably in the next couple of years when he improves his overall game he will be our right back but Hibbert is solid and never caught out of position and I can't think of a game in the last couple of years that Hibbert was exposed by a winger, really doesn't get the credit he deserves. As for who was the last player to score 20 league goals for us? Can't remember to be honest, Yakubu did get 23 goals in his first season but I think 15 in the league the rest were in europe and the cups. I think it may of been Beardsley? or Lineker? Can't remember!!! Jelavic will break that this season though no doubt!

Agree0 Disagree0

No, last season we were 1-0 down and Anichebe equalised in the last 10mins, and the season before that, we were once again 1-0 down and I think Bainesy equalised in the last 10 mins as well.

For me, the 1st half performance especially the defending which was shambolic at times and of course the ref. Officiating has cost us 4pts this season, really infuriating thinking about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Our defending has been poor this season, it's just been masked by the fact we're scoring a lot at the moment. Our only good defensive display was against Man United. Have we even kept a clean sheet since?. It needs addressing, we've always been strong defensively.

I understand moyes wants leadership on the pitch around players like fellaini, jelavic etc who can be hot headed, and with an entire midfield who want to get forward, Neville's value is actually his one dimensional, routine, predictable game... But I would much rather see someone withe more mobility and range of distribution in that role. With Gibson out, Fellaini or Heitinga would still offer more than Neville. Would much rather see Neville coming off the bench late in games where we need to settle and lock down the game

Not sure Jonny has the necessary skills or mobility to improve on Phil in midfield, he is struggling for form in his preferred CD position this season.
I agree Fellaini should operate as holding midfield in Gibsons absence and advance midfield when Darron is playing.
With Ossie and Phil we are vunerable under pressure and I'm hoping Thomas Heizlperger can prove his ftness and the Vadis deal can be in place for January.
Team
Howard
Hibbert Jageilka Distin or Duffy Baines
Osman Gibson Fellaini Pienaar
Mirallas
Jelavic
with Heizlperger as a replacement for Ossie or the injured Gibson pre January
and a midfield of Vadis Gibson Fellaini Pienaar, hopefully post Jan 2013 allowing both Mirallas and Fellaini to interchange giving a flexibility and fluidity to the team that opposing teams would have difficulty coping with.

I think that games have been passing by neville for a while now his passing has never been a strong point but seems to be getting worse time to hang up the boots i think. he was a very good signing when he came and has done wonders for the team and club but think we are just too good a team now for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather see neville else where ie stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

He was walking in the box for wigans second goal times up

Yes it pains me to agree with you both there but Neville can't cut it anymore your right. Games just pass him by, he is always out of position and in midfield he breaks down every move we attempt with a square ball or actually losing the ball!
Iv'e noticed in the last 2 games that the players don't actually pass the ball to him when they go forward, so the players know that they need to carry him through the game.
He is a back up right back to Hibbert and Coleman and that's it for me.
Sorry Phil, brilliant captain, great bloke, great ambassador to our fine club, and 7 years ago a top signing for us but I really think he needs to retire at the end of the season.

Better players than him had there day hes been alright baines is a stand out captain best player for 2 years it took you long enough to see cahill had gone too loyal moyes to your favourites only thing stopping us going forward that and bent refs how can they continue to miss offside goals yet disallow a good goal for us i would investigate them were going like italy anywere theres money theres corruption 4 points robbed after 7 games imagine the screams out of wenger sir red nose mancini de mateo come on moyes make a stand kenright open your mouth for once were being robbed in broad daylight everyone can see

On last nights game against Wigan, Heitinga was badly exposed for pace one on one, Kone killed him, however I would have moved Heitinga to the Midfield Distin to the back and Neville on the Bench. Neville is just not doing it for me at the moment. Gibson is a player we need badly. Moyes needs to look around and get another player similar to Gibson for back up

What are you on about? Neville IS the back up for Gibson.

I think he's trying to imply that we need a better backup than Neville...........

Thank you TC. My point exactly. We need someone better than Neville for back up for Gibson.
