While I applaud the attempts of the club to purchase good young prospects, at my age I need to see some quality coming into the first eleven. By the time the "potential" hits the first team I'll be sitting in the care home staring at the nurses tits and wondering they fascinate me so much.
COME ON YOU BLUE BOYS!

See Liverpool statement apologising about Van Dijk and dropping interest. Anyone fancy a sneaky bid, Think we would all be happy with VVD Renato Sanchez and Douglas Costa plus a half decent couple of strikers.

I have to say I am very disappointed with the antics from Lukaku. Yes he's has scored 26 goals playing for a team which has been set up to play to his strengths! There is no doubt he is a quick, powerful finisher, however, he is nowhere near the finished article! He can be lazy and inconsistent with a poor first touch. He is now believing his own hype and disrespecting his current club! I say good ridance if we stick to our guns and hold out for £100 M we can buy two or three decent goal scorers. We should also focus on sharing the goals amongst the whole team and sign the appropriate attacking midfielders. I'm sure Walsh and Keoman have identified these players but it's about time the owners and the board got realistic about paying the going rate in wages if they want to get us CL football.

To 'get real', where will the owners find the money to pay the going rate for champions league players, given that the average revenue of the five epl clubs in the champions league is almost three times as high as ours?

First post so hello all. Like him or loathe him for his actions re his contract Lukaku has been an asset we will find difficult to replace. Yes he looks like he can't be bothered at times, but he's miles better than anyone else we've had in recent years. Great strikers thrive on good service but far too often that's been missing. The tempo has been too slow and predictable with far too much side to side or backwards play. As for Barkley, he's undoubtedly talented, but he needs to be more consistent. Maybe, if he stays, 17/ 18 could be the season he finally comes of age.

Hi big h. Unfortunately barkley is not a kid anymore and we can't just keep relying on his potential.

Dont know about anyone else, but personally I think Lukaku is a grade A Natwest banker.

The way he's conducted himself is disgusting.

Dont get me wrong I am not for one second saying he should do this an do that because he's an Everton fan. We all know he's a Chelsea fan. But surely just out of professional respect towards his team mates and management and most of all the fans, you wouldn't come out with the s*** he has this past year.

There is absolutely no reason why he couldn't have kept his mouth shut publicly.

He could have made all the noise he wanted behind the scenes and the outcome would still have been the same (eventually moving to Chelsea) .

Don't care if it makes me sound bitter or twisted. I hope he goes to Chelsea and totally flops (as bad as Torres did) .

I would actually take joy in it, for the way he's been. Winking and slating us in the press "I can't stay at Everton next season". So many better ways he could have handled this.

Proper fumed me.

I don't think he's winning many over with his behaviour JMW. John Collins gave him some stick on the radio this morning, calling him disrespectful.

Some have class and some don't. We all know which one Lukaku is.

Excellent post JMW1878
Totally agree and yet I was slated for saying it early doors.
Only want players who are EFC blue .
Big Dunc, Sharpe, and those of the Peter Reid ilk are what we want .
I know the game is to score goals but Lukaku must be the worst footballer I have ever witnessed other than scoring goals . Ha ha Brett Angela had more skill than him!
Also Harper who we all gave stuck to had far more hunger and desire . Don't think Lukaku capable of breaking into a sweat!

I don't think it's about having players that are EFC Blue necessarily but it's about having the right type of player, one that respects his contract, busts a lung when he pulls on the shirt and when not on the pitch represents the team well.
Problem with Lukaku is he has serious delusions of grandeur and thinks he is bigger than the club! I could understand him being public about it all if we refused him a move but all we have said is he can move if someone matches our valuation!
He could've been an Everton great but all I will remember is how he failed against the big teams, whinged publicly and choked on the Golden Boot!

Lukaku says he knows where he will be playing next season, unless a deal comes in that EFC find exceptable, he will be playing at goodison park, just a small matter of being under contract for another 2 years.
I personly do not want anyone in a blue shirt that is not commited to the club, but we deside who you go to, when you go, and how much you go for, so when and if your agent comes forward with a club willing to pay 100mill, then, and only then, do you get a say in where you will be playing next season.

Let's let him go, would you have someone working for you if he or she didn't want to. he will be going even if he had 3 or 4 years on his contract his mind is made up and has been for a while.

I won't be upset when he leaves his continued talk of us not being big or ambitious enough is a joke and I look forward to watching him play second fiddle to costa next season not to mention that unlike at us where he got away with murder (not doing enough during games or throwing the towel in when things go against him) can you imagine Roman putting up with that Rom will again realise why he left first time around and will move to Europe within 4 years.

Your right, he was first choice at Everton even if he does go tho Utd he not going to start every game, there going to bring in more forwards and the youngsters. Chelsea have got better forwards on there books now so he's not going to be first choice there. Mind you I would keep the bench warm for that sort of money.

For those who are going to miss lukaku, me too but, in the 4 seasons we have had Lukaku we have finished 5, 11, 11 and 7th. The 4 seasons before that we finished 8, 7, 7 and 6th. In our last 4 seasons our goal difference overall was + 42, the 4 seasons before was + 42.
All this without Koeman looking after us.

Is there life after Lukaku? I think so.

Add this to your stats. I have looked at Lukaku goals contribution since joining Everton and taken other players goals away from the games to see how many points Lukaku goals alone have won Everton points, this season 10 points, last season 5 points, season before 8 points, first season 12 points, over a 4 year period he has a total of 35 points contributed, that's less than 9 points a season on average, barring in Mind he has played nearly every premier league game for Everton in those 4 seasons and assuming no player would have scored had Lukaku not played in those games, have not included points we have dropped in tight games he failed to score in.
