I disagree mate I feel its constructive criticism that's merited. The aim is surely to improve each season as a team & try & push for 4th not go backwards & stagnate.
Granted we have key players out through injury @ the mo but martinez knew when the blues qualified for europa league he was going to have to strengthen the squad & bring @ least half a doz players in so in effect or @ least on paper the squad is stronger than it has been for a number of years.
Every club gets injuries just got to get on with it & not feel sorry for ourselves or is there an issue whereby the players coming in are simply not good enough.Atsu, Besic Mcgeady gibson, hibbert, Garbutt.
Doesn't take a genius to know where the problems lie @ the mo, leaking goals like there's no tomorrow, can't keep clean sheets which means having to score 3 or 4 ourselves to win the match.
6 pts out of a possible 21 is relegation form all day every day in my book.
I know it's early in the season & if the blues can string a few wins together the table will look a lot healthier but until that happens we'll have to grin & bear it.
fellow supporter mentioned earlier that the 2 players that caused the damage yesterday's were falcao & Di
Maria.
I don't care if they were messi & Ronaldo both goals could have been defended better especially falcao's could have been avoided, kicked into row z by Howard instead of keeping ball alive that cost us a share
of the spoils.
Another blue says he'd be happy with 10th I don't get it.
We need to be top 4 or 5 & need to win a trophy this season.
My son is 20 in feb ain't seen us win anything so it's long over due.
The likes of Swansea, wigan & Birmingham have won silverware in recent seasons so why not us.

{Ed025's Note - very good and fair post that neil, well done mate..

I agree Neil, some people need to take off there blue tinted specs and look at reality, a love Everton like we all do but I really do think were in deep rubbish now, we all knew even last season we didn't have a big enough squad, and we all agreed on here we needed around 7 players, we have too many injuries now, leaking to many goals, and an ageing team, hibbert jags, distin, gas baz, pienaar Osman Howard which I say there just not good enough now , a
Posted on here last season the squad thing needed addressed as we simply can't cope with European and premier league due to our squad, we need points and fast, it's upto Martinez now to act fast and get rubbish sorted, because u know what will happen if we have a bad season, bye bye Coleman and Barkley

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think its a fair post. I don't think its fair to say that the players mentioned aren't good enough as some of them need a chance to settle in, the others could do with a little more respect due to length of service or indeed knee ligament damage which usually put a set back to form.

Are we actually slagging of Hibbert who is totally idolised by fellow supporters. If he scores we riot, or is that forgotten now.

The minute our keeper puts it into row z we complain he's using Moyse negative long ball anywhere will suit tactics.

So if they can't win, then I don't think that is really fair, sorry Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - to be fair ace, although hibbo is well respected, and i thought done well against united, we cant expect to progress with the likes of him and a few others in our first team, loyalty is a fine thing mate but in perspective, our hopes were built up last year and to be honest this season up to now is a damp squib, so supporters are looking for answers and i think neil made some valid points there, we will all have our own idea of the reasons why we are so poor and how to fix it, and this is the forum to express them...its ok to disagree you know fella its what its all about..

Don't totally agree with garbutt not being good enough.the lad looks a talented footballer, can defend and deliver baines esq crosses.basic still learning his trade in premier. Atsu . wasn't convinced by him during world cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions dentie, and yours are as valid as the next guys mate, its healthy to have differing opinions..

Agree with most of what you say mate, my lad is 20 and he's bored of me oing on about " the good old days". However as far as Garbutt goes don't know how you can judge him on what you have seen. I have watched him and he is and will be quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can we remember we've played arsenal (draw) Liverpool (draw) Chelsea (bad loss) and Manu (v unlucky narrow away defeat)

Leicester draw away doesn't look that terrible given they're playing well

West brom win away good result

Crystal palace did us with three shots on target otherwise we dominated game

So bit unlucky really combined with having difficult early fixtures

Should see some better results now we have non champs league teams to play against

Expect to see us climbing table soon and fortunately because a lot of matches have been drawn or gone the right way for us, then the pack is not too far away.

COYB!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree about opinions ed. but you can't say a kid ain't good enough when he has only played a couple of pre seasongames. which he was quality in.he is up against England's no1 left back.no easy

I'll just come out and say it rather than harp on. I would be happy if we finished 10th this season, but to enjoy the fruits of winning the europa league and gain qualification to the champions league from there. let's be honest with ourselves here, we did not spend big in the summer, particularly compared to the likes of chelsea, Manchester United and liverpool, or have the initial squad depth to compete with the already established top 4 contenders of Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham. Put simply, our squad depth is no where near big enough to compete on all 4 fronts of cups and league, so the chances of us surpassing last years feat of 5th and achieving the coverted top 4 for champions league is a dream I think is a little too far at present. Until further squad depth is added and rotation of places are cemented within the club and becomes the normal where performances stay to a top level rather than now where a couple of changes are made and players seem lost of how to play with eachother. In the past we have always had to stick to a very common first 11 due to squad size, barring injuries, who all knew how eachother play and their role in the team, now the squad is in transition and although the squad size is small, it is not large either, we are just at the inbetween stage (with additional players being made up of the youth squad). I would suggest we play our strongest team in the league and europa league games and keep the domestic cups for the kids to play in and gain valuable experience.

Guys pack it in with this criticism.

We lost to man u and now we must get rid of Bobby. How stupid does that sound?!?

Coleman injury has really affected the balance of the team. And to be fair we havnt had a prefered balance since the season started. We've played United arsenal Chelsea and Liverpool .

We're top of our Europa league group

And can we just be reminded that the two goal scorers were dimaria and falcau.

We are not fighting relegation so please can we calm down or this will be a very long and depressing two weeks, especially as the real Mike has found his voice again now that there is a negative whiff in the air. (Mike please go to the same naughty corner that Ed 002 currently occupies)

We are Evertonians. It's our right to be annoyed but our responsibility to support. So let's do just that and trust in the man that had and will still have us purring over the football we will play

The reason I have found my voice again is because I am no longer banned. Nothing to do with the negative whiff in the air. (Thanks Ed025)

The Saviour of Everton Banter is back and I'm not going anywhere. You lucky, lucky people.

{Ed025's Note - nice to have you back mike..you miserable sod,, :)

I honestly think that those who constantly post negative stuff are seeking some kind of notoriety. Not really interested in that "Adrian Durham say any old cr4p to get a reaction" waffle.

My goodness if this site was live during the Mike walker days you lot would go into overdrive.

I understand that this is banter, but give me strength, show some loyalty to the club you support and quit being so flaming negative.

Finally, Mike I don't know what you were banned for but please mate, at least come back a new man and give them less opportunity next time.

Well the dust has settled, and although we are still all angry and hurting it just shows me how much we care about our fantastic club!! But today I can view our start with new insight of not being furious!! 1. We played the championship league winners away on our first game, alway going to be tough( managers always say they don't want a promoted team first, nothing to lose) we played arguably 4 of the top 5, games that before last season. ( under bobby) we rearly got anything out of! And we are extremely disappointed with the 2 points we got( should've beaten the Arse and gotten something yesterday! Our defence has tightened up, we are coming good towards the end if games (we all complained about our fitness) and we have 2 weeks free to get our injured payers back! So let's get behind bobby! Bring the Goodison noise, and show them that when we 're down we just get louder and more passionate!!

I was really angry last night, after I've slept on it, i'm even more unreasonable, I just cannot see a way this will end without him getting sacked or without us improving on last season, reality is, sooner this hell is over with the better

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Swan we are still in a transition phase as long as we don't go too far backwards then finishing 5th -10th would still be a okay season for me me. Last season we changed the way we played and caught a lot of teams out. This season we are playing roughly the same way but are a known quantity and therefore easier to play against. I am not 100% convinced RM's tactics are best for our current squad but we have what we have. We also have injuries that are really hurting us. If we can get a few wins under our belt and get the boys back from injury sooner rather than later, then I can see us finishing towards the top end of the PL. I don't think we will get 4th as I think the top 3 will consist of MC Chelski and the Arse so that will leave us fighting it out with RS MU and Spuds again which unless we start winning soon will be a tall ask. don't get me wrong I would love to finish in the Top 4 but can't see it happening.

How long would this run have to contine for before you would consider Martinez out? Personally if we don't get atleast 13 points from our next 5 I think we are screwed for this season so for me Martinez has the next 5 to prove to us evertonians he wasnt just a one season wonder!

Give it a rest will ye, sound like a whingeing Koppite, let's get him out and get Moyes back yeeee, what about Tony Pulis

In Roberto I Trust

{Ed025's Note - normal service will resume shortly murf..im sure of it mate..

There is no way he is getting sacked (and nor should he). The biggest problem I have has nothing to do with him. It is that stupid mural with that smug look that he always has on his face. Why was that put up in the first place. It needs to be taken down.

Put it back up if they want once he has done something here.

For all you negative people out there, get a grip. I honestly feel ashamed for all of you. How can you criticise our club so much to a point where you're all calling for our managers head?! If you haven't noticed we have had to endure a difficult couple of weeks, jammed full of fixtures, dealing with injury after injury and you question our quality. Fair enough, the level we are used to seeing has slipped but simply due to the unfamiliar feeling of more games. After all when was the last time we dealt with the demands of European football? Key players are missing and have been for weeks, which include game changers Barkley, Coleman and most recently Mirallas and Stones. Keep your heads up, the glass isn't half empty, I have belief in our manager (who you all praised last season by the way - opinions change like the wind it seems) and you all should do the same. Before we know it, we will have our key players returning to fitness and the demands of extra football will be dealt with a lot better. In these difficult times us Blues need to show team spirit and get behind the team, the atmosphere at home is slowly becoming a joke and it needs to be dealt with. We have the best support/atmosphere in the world at Goodison Park, let's not see it vanish into thin air because of a shaky spell in the season. Be the 12th Man, install confidence back into our players because lord knows they need it right now. How most of you so called 'supporters' are reacting is doing the exact opposite for the team right now. I will say it once more, MAKE GOODISON ROAR.

Look I'm sorry guys, believe me after last season I REALLY enjoyed beating ure lot today, I wanted 5's and 6's.

But come on! Some of your posts on here are crazy, trust me u will play a lot worse than that and win this season. I think a bit of perspective is needed, ure start has been awful due to a harsh fixture list and Europa league.
U have key players out injured and some of your fit players hardly got a rest this summer due to it being a world cup year.

The teams around u spent 100's of millions this summer.

Imo Martinez is a victim of his own success of last season, much like that Muppet Rodgers up the road from u. But ure Everton, Dnt be like that lot. Show ure dignity and class like u have many times before.

Still wish we had smashed u 5 or 6 zero though 😊 oh well hopefully next time. 😃

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Condescending posts from a fan of a team who are just as terrible as us. Shows how far we have fallen. Even the opposition are taking pity on us.

Man Utd have no chance of getting in the top 4 this season as your defence is woeful, which will a disaster. Top 6 and you've done well. Luis Van Giant Fod isn't all that.

Fair play to you Chris, an honest assessment without being arrogant, with the wealth of attacking talent that we were up against and how we controlled the game for large parts without some of our best players, namely Barkley and Mirrallas we were unlucky to not at least get a point

Ex EVERTONIAN Martin keown motd pundit says it will be a test for martinez now 17th in the league allbeit early in the season but with injuries to key players stones being the latest casualty & the team appear low in confidence he is going to have to lift the team & earn his crust.
Away @ anfield & old Trafford seem to give home team to much respect & give the initiative to the home team & don't come into the game until they go a goal down.
I like to see positivity from the outset & come out all guns blazing having a go instead of being on the back foot & just playing 10 mins out the 90.
On the plus side naismith is carrying the team on his own along with young John stones.
