Think in January we need to invest in a winger, midfielder and forward. Ince, will Hughes would cost probably £11 mill and Honda although not a striker would do

Ince is rubbish and has a bad attitude, will hughes although talented would cost more than 11m and won't join and I see him going to liverpool, not going to get in a discussion about honda because the last one didn't go so well so I will leave it at that

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

Watched Will Hughes recently and though the lad has a good touch he is no where near the finished product.
£2-3m would be a true market value.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ince's attitude isn't that bad, Mike. A few people said it on here and everyone has jumped on the bandwagon without any evidence or knowledge on the matter at all. He is also a good player. For the right price (around £5m) he would be a good buy. People need to forgot Honda and Will Hughes is very good, but we will be priced out by Liverpool and co. £2-3m is ridiculous, Smith. He is worth more than that now and has the potential to be worth 10x that.

im not jumping on any bandwagon mate he like jack wilshire seems very cocky, arrogant and comes across as someone who spits his dummy put if he loses the ball on the training pitch, do I have evidence of this? no but he seems that way maybe an assumption isn't good enough and if ince is so good why isn't all the big ubs after him, from what I heard only cardiff made an approach he is also in the final 8 months of his contract playing in the championship so 5m is too much I would say 2m at most under those circumstances and will hughes worth 2-3m max shut up mate about 14-18m they could get for him even though he isn't worth it yet

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

AB1878 have you watched Will Hughes live and not media highlights?
I watched him recently when Reading beat Derby 3 - 1 at Pride Park. Guthrie ( ex Newcastle) bossed midfield and Hughes didn't manage to beat one Reading player in a forward run, he flitted around midfield making short square passes and created absolutely nothing.
He has potential, under the right coaching, but no team in their right mind would pay £10-11m for potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

I meant £11 mill for ince and Hughes

Albo

Agree0 Disagree0

If we need players now then getting 2 that need to develop makes no sense, we have a few players for the future we need better holding midfielders, osman makes no impression on the opposiotion and actually recently has offered little going foward.

Got to say I'm made up with our start under Roberto. Considering we are still in a "transition" period we look even better than last year. We have had two of the top four and should have had at least 4 points more but our next four games are totally winnable and I think we will be in the mix for a top four spot if we cut down on the awful goals we are conceding

Albo {Ed025's Note - im with you albo..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me too, also if Lukaku can get 4 goals in 3 games when he's not match fit, imagine what he can do when he is. We should spend in Jan, and hopefully have Gibbo+Mirallas+Pienaar fully fit, plus hopefully Deulofeu adapted and raring to go!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can get alcaraz back too who knows martinez style and give a bit of competition and backup to distin and jags things r not that bad as uve said the team is still learning this new way of playin and seems there's money available in january best its been at this club in years even though it was good under moyes plus no barry alcaraz pienaar and fully fit gibson at city let's face it we had 2 kids in midfield in barkley and mccarthy the best is yet to come from them and I think kone is going to come good

Agree0 Disagree0

RM has done a lot of good things, but, it takes a real man to admit he has made a mistake, ans kone is one hell of a mistake, cut your losses in jan and take whatever you can get, the man is so poor, it's embarasing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kone has played 61 minutes of Premier League football at Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see jela being flogged first

Albo {Ed025's Note - can i hold the whip?.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye jelavic will definitely be out the door next, a lot of poeple saying moyes had him going down the wing can see clear as day its more down to his ability than anything else

Is it time we introduced a three challenge rule refs dodgy decisions?

they have it in cricket or rugby tennis etc

important games can't just be decided on dodgy ref decisions

of course FIFA is corrupt - so they won't want it - they can't easily stitch things up if teams had 3 challenges for obviously dodgy decisions

who would NOT want this introduced?
No one - with only three challenges it would not slow up or ruin the game

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd love it. Of course, some decisions will go against us when we won't want them to, but we'll certainly get so many more decisions given in our favour . Whether the decisions we get would be cancelled out by the ones other teams get is another matter, but it would certainly make it a far fairer game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Referees just need to be scrutinised more. If they don't score enough in a game, they're relegated to League 2 for a month.

Agree0 Disagree0

League 2 is too good for Jon Moss, he was feckin' disgraceful. In any other walk of life that level of incompetence in a job would be met with an immediate dismissal.
I haven't witnessed that standard of pathetic refereeing since the Clattenburg derby. I've seen sunday league refs more competent than him. Should be kicked down to the blue square league, or whatever it's called, for a few seasons and even that will be too good for the dog.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you weren't impressed then?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he achieved what he was paid to do not buy the fa but city no one could convince me otherwise. tom efc

If spurs are coming in for baines i'd let him go 15-18 plus Danny rose he's rapid and can play too.

Wasy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How much do you think Baines will go for? Rose is worth at least £6m, is Baines worth £21-24m at 29?
As good as he is, and regardless how much we might love him, he's not worth that kind of money.
Besides, he's been relatively poor by his standards since Christmas (since it was known moyes was on his way or coinciding with a dip in Pienaar's form?)
I'd sell him this January because he doesn't look interested any more, his head appears to be elsewhere. Give the left back role to Oviedo and strengthen elsewhere, creative midfielder in the Arteta mould, Honda?and a striker {Ed025's Note - he was a god against west ham, we all have blips mate, but for me hes still the best LB in england..

Agree0 Disagree0

I know they all have a dip Ed, but his consistency up until Christmas 2012 was unbelievable and had been for years.
Since then he's not been right for whatever reason. Great player on his day and, I agree, still easily the best fullback in the league but am I wrong to expect more? Maybe I am, maybe his age is catching up with him or the cumulative effect of playing non stop is catching up with him?
He just doesn't seem to be himself lately and hasn't been nearly as effective as web become accustomed to aside from West Ham.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok 10m plus rose but I'd rather sell him to spurs rather than that leech at utd

Wasy

Agree0 Disagree0

Rose is rubbish! Most of the Spurs fans I know would love Baines but rate Assou-Ekotto above Rose. The only reason A-E was shipped out was that he'd had a major fallout with AVB. Without that, he'd still be in the team and Rose would still be at Sunderland. In any case, I can't see Baines heading that far South. I'm convinced he'll follow Felli down the M62 come January. Unless of course they're still below us and we've got a Champions League place sewn up by then ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

So if he ends up at Utd what will happen to Evra? I just can't see it. Evra is a big part of man Utd, and if they got Baines it would end him. Can't see it happening. Baines will stay forever now

Agree0 Disagree0

I think our new formation and way we play has had an impact on Bainsey. We are a passing team now not just a counter attacking team or a team that plays in spurts. With united being so **** they might be out of Europe by the time Bainsey could sign so maybe it won't happen. If we get £18 - £20 mill I'd definitely sell

I'm wondering, We've had 3 tremendous years from LB, when you consider he is running about 70/80 mtrs down the wing then the same back again, he's doing this around 10/15 times a game, maybe his legs can't do it any longer. Possibly time to get a new left back and move LB into left mid where he will prolong his career and give him a new lease of life. either Garbutt or Oviedo could be brought in and develop their careers. Just a thought. KK.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When you think about it, you have a point. However I don't think he'd work on LM as he is so good going forward due to Pienaar, and he's been missing recently (which is when LB has been fairly poor) so if LB went into LM, Pienaar would be missing all but permanently.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is AVB at spurs wanting to turn LB into a new Gareth Bale, we should do it before anyone gets their hands on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately Pienaar has'nt played well for some time, and yes you are right when either one is missing the other does'nt play as good, look at Pienaar at Spurs he did'nt hit it off at all. LB needs to have a good think, has United or Spurs got a player who he can play with like Pienaar, answer no, so LB don't go.

Anyone else think that Mirallas has a terrible first touch? He has terrific pace and can run with the ball, but he struggles to control a through-ball (or long pass) hit with pace that could set him free. Also, his final pass or cross is occasionally lacking. Plus he seems to be a player who can't play well unless 100% fit, which he clearly seems not to be at present. But when he is on song he's a real asset and brings pace and other qualities to our team, so I'm very glad he's with us.
BaronHardup

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So your point is what?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would like to see him play up front wid lukaku with barkley just in behind them. four in midfield with 3 defenders 3 4 1 2 without the ball you have 6 in midfield would have stopped man citys passing with it attack attack attack. just a thought

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that ref should be investigatated financially after yesterdays game. in happens in italy, it was blatent he was on rubbishys side, there should be some fair play commision set up. its indefensible to be so one sided . tom efc

for me we need a winger and while I would like valencia I wouldn't take him at the cost of baines (although 15+valencia is the best we'd get), i'd like to see if we could get pablo piatti that little argentine who plays for valencia. we were linked with him a few years ago but got told to come back with 38mil. but he is availiable end of contract cheaply. worth a punt imo ~KIWIEFC

i was dissapointed with the defeat, not because we lost to city, but with the way we lost.
bad referee plus light midfield
barry badly missed, seamus losing his rag and what's happening with baines, does'nt seem to be probing upfield as much as he use to

referees are human, and, as such, are subject to human error, however, when a ref makes eight or nine major "errors" and they are all in favour of one side, it starts to leave a bad smell. Am not sating we have an italian scale problem, but in view of the performance of some officials we should not be so conplacent to think it could not happen here

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even Mark Halsey was saying the ref was making strange decisions, like the lukaku penalty appeal in 1st half, where there was more contact on lukaku than there was on zabaleta when he won a penalty. Also by the time silva got booked, he should have been getting his second yellow.we just got to move on and look forward to the next game

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Ref's are human and do make mistakes, but this is not the first time this season a ref has cost us points with multiple bad decisions.

I'm not for a minute suggesting there is any kind of sinister problem going on in the Premier league other than poor performance. But the quality and consistency level of ref's needs to be taken in hand by the FA and sorted out soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Oct 2013 12:12:55
I don't think either of them were enough for a penalty, you have to wonder if they are encouraged to give decisions for the benefit of the tv audience, if they don't then they might not get the high profile game next time. Alternatively they could just be rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

It also happened last year i, e newcastle, 2 goals disallowed that weren't anything wrong with them. tom efc

I'm personally not disheartened by our performence, City away was always going to be an uphill battle, and I felt that important decisions went against us. Never a city penalty, yes there was contact, but on that basis there should be around 2-3 penalties atleast every game! Defnate penalty for Everton, and I felt that there was another strong claim for us. Furthermore, Silva should not have stayed on the pitch, some abysmal challenges from him. Milners challenge was also very nasty, and could have been yellow or red. Plus two important absentees; Barry and Pienaar. Howard was unlucky with the own goal. Coleman lost his head, and I'm sure he will recieve a bollocking for that. We will lose some matches, that is football and this wasn't the worst fixture to lose in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on ref was pathetic but a few of our lads went missing 2nd half, actually thought Naismith was one of our better players but because he's British he's useless whereas 'Super Kev' although he's been awful end of last season and all of this can't be criticised, still not many sides will take points from City at home and we still have to play them at Goodison so it's onwards and upwards COYB.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Super Kev' was awful yesterday, but he has played well at times this season - played well against newcastle (assist), assist vs West Ham, and his general play vs Chelsea was also good
