Concerned by the idea of Pienaar effectively monopolising our proclaimed summer transfer kitty. Pains me to give Spurs any more than 3/4 million for him. Great last season but people forgetting he's 30 and held us to ransom for a move to the Lane. Put it towards taking A.Johnson from City. He'd thrive as a focal point for us! Equally comfortable on left or right. Linking him up with Leighton and keep Fellaini amounts to a good summer of business to me. Would also welcome attempts to offload surplus fringe players to loosen purse strings for any free agents who fit the bill.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Couldn't agree more lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Adam Johnson would be easily worth 10mil and his wages would be out of reach for us. Pienaar is a realistic target, is only going to cost 4mil (don't believe the 6mil jarg), yes he is 30, but technically he is outstanding and doesn't rely on pace, therefore could easily see him playing for another 4 maybe 5 seasons

I think the baines to utd talk is a load of BS at the end of the day he's our most capped player since 2009. He lives to play football so isn't going to be willing to leave the club he loves to play second fiddle to evra

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Obviously the aim is for him to be first choice at United, not cover for Evra. He is already better than Evra, that's why they want him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Even the United fans say Baines is better, they are always telling me how lazy Evra is!

Moyes shouldnt sell felli no matter how much clubs offer! why should everton buy young potential players and when they hit top form sell them on? its stupid! keep fellaini and dont do any other clubs favours by signing young players and making them word class then sell them on to a "bigger club"! {Ed025's Note - spot on pal..

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Why not keep them,if we wana be a top club u dont sell ur best players {Ed025's Note - dead right mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Y do people keep calling chelsea spurs man city arsenal bigger clubs there not bigger than everton they were just lucky they had some1 to sell there clubs to wealthy owners richer yes bigger nooo.listen to gary cooks interview on the radio he said the abu dhabi united group were lookin at other clubs to buy 1 of which was supposedly everton but cook got them to buy city just think how big we would be then with money "frightening" just remember wealthier not bigger. keep the faith

all the stuff on this site is crap. we are linked with new players everyday but with no money. pienaar was great last season on loan as always but he is 30 and is only gonna get worse dont let harry run us dry of every penny on a aging player. start young with sigurdasson for half the price maybe a freeby or loan thats all we are gonna get blues, face it. harsh reality no point being in fantasy land forget holt, dempsey or anyone coming its bull. {Ed025's Note - well aint you a barrel of fun!..you must be the only blue, who is not desperate for peanuts to sign..

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Agree0 Disagree0

There is know way this lad is an evertonian or if he is hes a tool, pienaar is class and is only 30 so hes got about 4 or 5 years left in him.Did you go a game last year soft lad because if you did you would realise what pienaar did for us after new year,so if you dont like are pages go on ye own page you sad sad sad kopite.Tell me again how many goals and assists did downing have ha ha ha even tim howard scored more.Terry blue {Ed025's Note - love it terry..

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm also not 'desperate' - I'd like him to sign - but if you go desperate the Harry's got you hook line and sinker - there are quite a lot of creative wingers out there - and if Harry wants 6mil - it's just becos he konws we're now a threat and he doesn't want us having any transfer money left over for anyone else - he knows we need a winger on the other side as well but awnts us to blow all our cash on pienaar - there's plenty of decent freeby wingers out there - let's not get desperate

his value to spurs is about 2m cos he aint gonna be happy on that bench if Harry dont let him go - and for any other team he's probably also worth about 3m cos he aint gonna be happy going to sunderland etc - so its a weird game of poker -
the thing is Harry knows that Moyes is a better manager than him and he knows everton would be well above tottentham with the same money available - so Harry likes to keep everton at bay with underhand methods cos he's scared that moyes would make him look a knob without the extra spendies harry gets - harry don't want a fair fight cos he know moyes is a better manager than he is - that the only reason he signed pienaar in the first place - and why levy is hacked off with him - he spent 3m on a player he didn't even want

Just an observation, If God forbid we do end up loosing Baines, Jags, Or Heitinga I think we should raid some of the PSV/Holland squad. More specifically Ron Vlaar and Jetro Willems. Ron Vlaar has been getting in the Holland squad of late and has been a key part of PSV's defence this season, Would probably only cost around the 7 million mark. And Jetro Willems is only 18, but he has had 2 caps for Holland already and was quite impressive the last half of the season; If no one snaps him up now then I have no doubt he will move for big money in the future! If we did sell Baines and Jags/Heitinga and we bought these two for replacements we would also be left with quite a big chunk of money to sign reinforcements.

'Awwy on Peanuts:
And his manager will not stand in the way if Pienaar wants to return to Merseyside.

“Steven Pienaar is a good player,” said Redknapp. ”I would think in all honestly he’s going to want to stay at Everton. He seems to have produced his best form there. He was unlucky at Tottenham.

“He’s a good player, a very very good player. It’s just I had Gareth Bale playing on the left-hand side and you can’t dislodge Gareth Bale. He’s one of the best left-sided players in the world, without a shadow of a doubt.

“If he’s going to want to stay at Everton and Everton want him then obviously the deal is going to have to be right for Tottenham, otherwise he comes back to Tottenham.”

EFCwhitesocks

Believable2 Unbelievable0

"He WAS unlucky at Tottenham"

Interesting choice of words, I would've thought he could've said something like "He has has been unlucky so far".

But it seems promising, Pienaar is a must, I think every Everton fan and their dog knows that.

i think we all know that Pieanaar is the main target, however this does not improve the sqaud that finished last season, just merely puts us back at square one. I'm with Ed in that i don't beleive people will leave unless its top dollar we can't refuse.
However if one is to leave i think Baines or Jagielka would have the least impact on the side. However i'm not suggesting either should go.
As for the free transfer markey, surely we're looking at players like Diame, Rodeallga, Steinsson, Gordon? All players who Prem experience and depth to the squad. Not suggesting we get all as theres no such thing as a 'free' transfer and we all know the predicament we're in. Lets not forget aswell we also have, fingers crossed, a fully fit Rodwell and Barkley next season who despite criticism both offer good options in a midfield.
We're not a million miles away rom europe as it is, so i'f be happy to not sell anybody and maybe a shrewed bit of business here and there to add to current squad and we'll be ok.
I realise this isn't a transfer rumour as such but i just think we need to be more realistic in our approach and targets...unlike some.
And if Ed is to be beleived we seem to have our first bit of business done in Naismith!

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Naismith, pineaar and rodallega and that is job done for me, would cost about 7 million, which could hopefully be raised by the sales of a couple of fringe players and what is already in the kitty

Bez the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

How would selling baines not have an impact on the team, hes our most influential player, he was top scorer before KING jelavic came so for us to sell baines would leave a giant hole in our team, I'd sell no one and bring a few additions to squad = happy days.ewefc

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe that you think Baines leaving would have the least impact on the side (Jags may), without Baines Pienaar would be nowhere near as effective as he is. Baines is one of the best probably THE BEST player we have.

I wouldn't like to speculate as to who we could possibly manage without but if I had to pick anyone to keep then it would be Baines.

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 25 how have you not quoted anything regarding the original quote stating Baines and least impact. Guessing you didnt post the quote.

Degsy {Ed001's Note - I would have had to say something too, Baines is probably the closest thing to an irreplaceable player Everton has. There simply is no one at the club who could play left back at even a tenth of his level. Actually, thinking about it, I am hard pressed to think of many left backs in the world who could provide what he does. One of the most underrated players in the country, for me.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers 001, always nice to get some praise from a Koppite lol

I dont think Harry will be with Spurs much longer going by what he said last night on Sky sports.Does anybody feel D levy with tempt Moyes away from us if Harry goes i really hope not [Stef the blue ]

Believable2 Unbelievable2

You must have been listening to Talksport last night too original poster, the Spurs fans do not want Harry there at all, I am having a tenner on him getting sacked first this week, if he is forced to sell Modric or Bale and has a crap start then he will be gone as he only has a year left on his contract.

Maybe bad news for us MOYES's fans

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah - why would moyes go there? Everton is 'his' team - the whole team is what Moyes has brought in/kept - why would he walk away from that for some poxy spurs job where there would be no loyalty - we're also very close to having a brilliant team - all with hardly any money - I'm sure Moyes would love to take this team just that step further into the big time

- the redknapp interview was weird though - he definitely didn't look comfortable - something's going on there - one minute he was a shoe in for the england job - then he's overlooked for some strange reason - in favour of Roy Hodgson! for FS - there's definintely some sh*t on Harry's shoe that people around him don't like

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2012 09:11:02
How confident of Naismith coming are you Ed? Seen on sky sports they rejected a bid from west Brom and west ham are interested but he said he wants to stay put, you still confident he'll be wearing the royal blue of Everton next year and not that of rangers? Oh and on the same note, is it me or are west ham in for everyone we are, Sam allardyce becoming the new Harry redknapp since he's got a bit of money!

ToffeeBlue {Ed024's Note - Still confident mate, sometimes things take a bit longer to be completed

Believable2 Unbelievable2

We don't really know who we are in for, its all just speculation until we hear something from the club, so Big sam is entitled to go for anyone he likes. There will always be several clubs going for the few decent players on the market.

06 Jun 2012 09:50:47
Anyone else be really happy if we brought in Pienaar and Naismith and not let anyone go? Maybe a sneaky free ( rodallega etc) in as well.. Strongest team would look like this..

Howard
Hibbert Jagielka Heitinga Baines
Gibson Fellaini/Cahill
Naismith Cahill/Fellaini Pienaar
Jelavic

Anyone else think we could really push on with that team ie top four, or is it just me?

I just want the new season to start. im tired off all this about teams wanting are best players. plus lets be realistic here we don't have the money. I doubt were even interested in fernandes, i don't believe the naismith deal. I think we might lose cahill so whatever money we could get we have to use on pienaar, bring in Rodallega on a free and owen on a free. to me thats all we need i think. people will obviously disagree with me but that's just my opinion.
