"Why would David Moyes leave Everton for a smaller club like Tottenham?" Lee Carsley.

What a legend

ToffeeTony {Ed025's Note - good man lee..

Believable13 Unbelievable0

What a tackler, pure commitment, legend, shoulda took the one year contract extension Cars intead of goin off for two years

Degsybluenose {Ed025's Note - he was a cracker degsy..

Agree0 Disagree0

Carsley and Gravesen used to be amazing!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish they wer still here, imagine this for a team:

Howard
Hibbo Heitinga Jags Baines
Naismith Gravesen Carsley Pienaar
Felli
Jelavic

Quality team, top 4 easy

ToffeeTony {Ed025's Note - thats some bite in the middle tony..

Not a rumour, just a thought Burak Yilmaz plays in the turkish league and has a 5m buy out clause he has scored an incredible 55 goals in 75 games for Trabonspor. Ed is there any chance that we would go for him or has Moyes shown any kind of interest could be the perfect partner for Jelavic if Naismith plays on the wing?
Joe EFC {Ed025's Note - no news on him joe..

Everyone putting there teams on here for next season have all gone with heitinga an jags. Weres distan well better than them 2 without distan our defence has no height an no pace

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Personally I'd play Heitinga with Distin,Jags on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, our best combo is Heitinga and Distin, as shown last season. I mean Heitinga got player of the season and Distin got players player of the season. {Ed025's Note - perm any 2 from 3...we have 3 great centre halves

Agree0 Disagree0

We need all three and they're all as good as each other so rotation needed

Whats your reckoning of Rodallega Ed?
Irish Blue {Ed025's Note - good player mate..bit of an attitude, but moyes would soon knock that out of him..

Believable4 Unbelievable1

They said that about Drenthe...

Agree0 Disagree0

You cant possibly say drenthe has the same attitude as Rodallega.

Drenthe was a complete nut job

Degsybluenose {Ed025's Note - what a waste of talent..

I posted a few weeks back about how I thought we needed to maybe be more pragmatic with regards to selling players and with all these rumours of Baines going I still say that it doesn't necessariliy have to be seen as a negative. Do I want him to stay? Absolutely! I do though think that in our current financial plight we have to think of the bigger picture, if the price is right ( and you can forget about anything less than £20mill) then we should seriously consider it. I don't doubt that he's one of our best players he's the 2nd best left back in the country, however your left back shouldn't be your best player. If Moyes can reinvest the cash then we could strengthen the whole team and maybe even find the next Baines younger and on a lesser wage, Add the fact that Baines is 27 you could argue he's only going to lose value from now on in? Until we have a rich backer can we really afford to not consider it? I know my views won't sit well with a lot of the people on here but its just my opinion.

Bluestu1878 {Ed025's Note - i respect your honesty stu..

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I have been saying the same for a long time, but people seem to be to fixated on the Baines/Pienaar partnership, and like you i think if your relying on your LB for creativity then your in trouble. Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

Couple of questions mate.

1, why cant a left back be your best player

2, what does pragmatic mean

Dehsybluenose {Ed025's Note - 2..being practical..

Agree0 Disagree0

We did play pretty well and scored lots of goals when Baines was injured at the end of the season...

Tree Blue

Agree0 Disagree0

Tut,tut,tut,....no wonder you work in a crisp factory degz.............t

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying he can't be Degsy, I'm just saying that maybe we need to change the way we think about how to move forward. In the current climate were not going to get a mega rich owner so how else do we move the squad on we surely can't let them all run there contracts down? Harsh as it is Baines and Fellaini are for want of a better word prime assets, now obviously Fellaini is still young with no doubt much more to come so we shouldn't sell him, Baines may well improve even more as a player but realistically at 27 his value is only going to go down. As a club I'm not sure we can allow him to go next season or the season after for half or quarter of the value he's worth now?

I love good debate I do! :)

Agree0 Disagree0

The auther of this post!, is missing one very important point!, that is football is a buisness and like any other buisness, you to spaculate to accumilate! and by that I mean you have to keep your best to challange for champions league spot! the financial rewards would mean we could manage our debts more comfortably and invest in better players. at the moment, I think the clubs debts are managable! So at this present time there is no need to sell anyone, by that I mean no first team players!,.. moyes says he want to qualify for europe! and he means top 4 , And I believe this may be our year to achieve this!!... johnmacfromfazak. {Ed025's Note - love it j mac..

Agree0 Disagree0

I like a number on here dont want him to go but somewhere between the 20 th August and the 31st I can see it happening.
Providing it
leave us time to use the money to the overall benefit of the team.

Ive no doubt DM has got a plan B in mind

George

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather keep him for 5 more years and let him go on a freebie Stu.

Hey Tris at least I work for a livin kidder, well sort of. Whats the Blue Oyster like these days mate

Degsybluenose

Agree0 Disagree0

Without a player like messi, why shouldn't our creativity come from a partnership like Baines/Piennar? I know its almost impossible to choose one of our top players to sell, but to pick baines, just because he's a left back seems a bit short sighted! Would we feel the same about Piennar if he played down the right with hibbo?? Sell some of the dead wood first, never mind arguing over which one of the top ones we should sell! Blue Lee

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling your best players sends out a bad signal - were close to being contenders now - just add to more - pienaar and right-winger like Donovan and we coul be flying

Been thinking about this cordozo rumour it doesn't seem to be going away and don't get me wrong the guy has a great goal scoring record but can anyone really see us paying 16m for him? He's 29 now it was easy to justify the money for felli as he was young and was only going to get better! But 16m for a 29 year old?? Unless there's something we don't know about finances and lets face it moysie is seeming very upbeat. Thoughts?? sydney blue {Ed025's Note - i dont think we will buy him, as you say, no re-sale value..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

My point exactly Ed I think the only way we would is if we had plenty of our money at our disposal, we may not be rich but we are smart with what we have

SydneyBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if we had 16 mill, Moyes would not pay that much for a 29 year old so not gonna happen at that price mate

Degsybluenose {Ed025's Note - i agree

Agree0 Disagree0

If moyes had 16 mill, he probaqbly wouldn't spend it on 1 player, he'd bring in about 5

Is the Pienaar deal looking likely to suceed? im asking because it seems certain were bringing in danijel pranjic. everyone thinks he is a replacement for baines but he is very solid as a left midfielder so maybe he is being brought in because pienaar deal is unlikely. saying that, maybe he is being bought because we struggle with injuries every season and so baines stays, pienaar in, and pranjic is cover for both in event of injuries, suspensions etc. moyes does love versatile players! thoughts anyone?
Cheltenham marc {Ed025's Note - i dont think pranjic is a replacement for anyone, ..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I have often thought about this as the reason he didn't sign again for Munich was because he didn't like being on the bench. This would make you assume he is gna be in the first team so......

Hoilett wanted 50k a week. Big demands based on a single season. However, Anichebe's weekly pay packet makes me want to cry.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Also pretty sure Coleman won't be around come the end of his current 4 year deal. Technically sub standard, can't play on 'first season enthusiasm' for long in this league. Being shifted to right back is his only hope and he's not in the same league as some of the kids about at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard 4 million a year that's 80k a week plus signing on fee, would still get him though they reckon the fee at tribunil we be 4 mill give them big vic and Coleman and it like getting hoilett on a free and between big vic and seamus they must be on 40k so it's like paying junior 40k.......the jobs a goodin.........tristen

Agree0 Disagree0

I see the logic mate but there' plenty of contributing factors, not always so easy. But in theory, I agree with offloading Coleman and Anichebe to supplement the signing of a much stronger player, whoever it may be!

I don't agree with offloading Seamus Coleman at all! I believe he could be our right back next season. Would that be such a bad thing?

Hearing strong rumours that Paul Allen is interested in Everton.
Allen is co-founder of Microsoft and also owns the Seattle Sounders, Seattle Seahawks, and the Portland Trailblazers.

Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed he intends to continue his efforts to bring Steven Pienaar back to Goodison Park on a permanent deal.

The South Africa international returned to Merseyside in January on a six-month loan deal just a year after he quit the club to move to White Hart Lane.

After a successful stay back at Goodison both parties are now keen to make the deal permanent, though the main sticking point appears to be Everton's ability to afford Spurs' £5million asking price.

The departure of Harry Redknapp and subsequent arrival of Andre Villas-Boas also created some uncertainty with regards to incomings and outgoings at White Hart Lane.

After wrapping up the signing of former Rangers striker Steven Naismith on a free transfer Moyes confirmed he will now switch his attentions towards Pienaar.

"We are keen [on Pienaar] and I hope in time we would be able to conclude that deal," he said.

"I don't know if the situation has changed [with Andre Villas-Boas coming in as new Spurs manager] but Steven has made it very clear he wants to come back here and my understanding is that hasn't changed.

Next job
"My next job in the coming weeks is to get Steven Pienaar here as well.

"The season we qualified for the Champions League we had people in place early doors so if we could do that again then we would hope we could replicate what we have done before.

"The Premier League has changed in the level of squads and the standard but we will try to start the season better than we have done."

Moyes also confirmed that he had received no bids for any of his key players.

With money tight at Goodison, there has been speculation the club may have to cash in on their major stars to raise transfer funds.

Good players
Full-back Leighton Baines and midfielder Marouane Fellaini are two players who have been linked with moves away but Moyes insists he has heard nothing.

"I've heard nothing from nobody," he stressed.

"We are always going to have interest in the players we have because we have good players but we don't sell easy here and we try to build a team.

"Of course you are going to lose players now and again but we have kept the bulk of players and we will continue to try to add to it and keep improving."

So DM is more focused on bringing players in than he is signing his new contract. I am getting a real positive vibe this summer. He seems to be much more sure of new signings this summer than previous years.

There must be a bit of money there, he is a different person at the mo'

The names we are linked with are all positive attacking players too. And let's not forget that he has a habit of surprising us with un earthed gems.

Even though we will have our business done early this year I have booked a day off for transfer deadline day just in case we get a cheeky little deal.

Ed 25 you have to agree that this is turning out to be a very good summer for us so far

I haven't really seen Moyes this positive in a long time, really does look like he is enjoying the summer instead of dreading like years past. Seems confident of a Pienaar deal, and word around is that Pranjic and Rodallega are next on our list.

I saw the name and did some research, he's 29 and the biggest team he's played for is Monaco and that was 3 or 4 years ago now. Doesn't strike me as a world beater and as a central midfield player, can safely say he's not going to be joining us anyway. At least this would be my hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to be signing some slightly younger players (like Naismith) I don't think it's good signing players that are over 30 (unless we get Pirlo, then I'm not complaining).

I also did some research and it said that in January he was close to a move to City,at that time City were chasing the title and so why would they buy him if he was no good? Must be talented.

to be honest i think we should be going after more rangers players especially maurice edu, hes only 25, solid in the middle and would keep gibbo and fellaini on their toes for the starting job, just a thought {Ed025's Note - im not a big fan of edu..

Believable1 Unbelievable3

That aluko is a good player aswell... He's really fast and skillful {Ed025's Note - now he is a good player...it just looks like we are taking advantage of rangers situation, so how about this for a radical idea...why dont we, as a goodwill gesture, loan rangers some of our fringe players, or youngsters, who are unlikely to figure next season, this would give them vital experience, as well as helping rangers out, as they are not allowed to buy at the moment...just a thought..

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love it if we did that ed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you not stolen enough from us? Wee Naisy will never be off the treatment table. This is how he repays us
for the finiancial and medical support he was given at Ibrox. {Ed025's Note - thats the way football is mate, if it was,nt us, it would be someone else!, i really feel for the rangers supporters, as they are paying the price for mistakes made at boardroom level...but its no good having a pop at us, you need to look closer to home for your failings..

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the post. Disagree with the ED {Ed025's Note - and thats your prerogative mate...

Agree0 Disagree0

How can anyone disagree with what ed said? Its factually right!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but Ed is just saying it as it is and we havent "stolen",Naismith was a free agent and we payed 5.5m for Jelly so as much as I feel for Rangers fans Im afraid its not our problem.

Rangers wouldn't of seen out the season if we hadn't stumped up for Jelavic. Ungrateful barstewards, i mean all we got was 11 goals and a hatful of hope for next season.., sorry i actually do feel for the supporters, not the club though they brought it on themselves as Ed rightly pointed out.

Just to say the Gosse rumours have legs, hearing it out here in Sweden, not on the website from what I can see but in the hard copy of aftonbladet, one of the main papers here. Also Peinaar and Pranjic apparently signed sealed delivered. What's happening eds? Where is the budget from even if 2 are frees, wages and signing ons seemed out of our league

Svenny {Ed025's Note - i dont know svenny mate...but im not complaining..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Hey Svenny is the Goss lad any good? Im guessing he'll play in the middle with Gibson so we can push Fellaini further up then maybe put Naismith on the wing.

I'd imagine releasing 6 fringe players would result in the wages being available for the freebies. And Anichebe looks set to depart to Wigan, when the Moses leaves, and that will free up transfer money and wages also. And whispers are we may have a little bit to play with thanks to the new TV deal, but that is just rumours at this point.

Agree0 Disagree0

The new tv deal doesn't start until after the coming season, do you think we have borrowed against it already, i bloody hope not, sorry to be negative the thought just occurred to me and i don't like the thought of getting into more debt

mike aintree {Ed025's Note - even if we have borrowed a bit mike..its no big deal mate, compared to most clubs we are financially sound..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed i do agree with that and i have posted before that i am positive that our great club will never go down as the board members would never allow their investment to be lost. What worries me is the interest rate is phenomenally high so when servicing the debt we would loose the equivalent of a players wage for a season or leaving us unable to satisfy players demands a'la Pienaar. If someone starts sniffing round Jelavic or anyone else for that matter we would be unable to bump up wages, sorry. I really do over think things at times

Hey people, just a lil question for my own curiosity really, how much do you think naismith (excuse my spelling lol) would be to buy if we hadn't of got him for free,as in what would he be worth in todays market values? Cheers guys

Westy {Ed025's Note - his buy out clause was 2m westy...but i think at least 5-6m mate..

Believable1 Unbelievable3

He has a 2 million realese clause on his contract when he was still on a contract

Agree0 Disagree0

The 2 million was negotiated as a thank you for reducing his wages by 75% for the last 6 months of the season, his true market values must be around 5 million i think it would be higher but for his previous serious injuries
