That's more like it! I actually enjoyed the match. We made City work for that win. From open play we were very good. Got caught out by zonal marking again and pushing up for the equaliser at the end but from open play didn't give the much time and space at all. Tom Davies embarrassed Sigurdson tonight with his performance. Good changes by Silva but Walcott let us down in the first. He see3medd better in the second but I'm the other side of the pitch lol.

As Guardiola stated u need two good strikers as in Jesus and Aguero we have none hence we struggle to score goals but yes was a lot better.

shogs i think a lot of the problem is we don't shoot, we get in good positions then pass again instead of having a dig, might sound obvious but we need to start having shots if we want to score.

Tom Davies was brilliant today absolutely brilliant captains performance, fully deserves a run in the team now done more tonight than siggy has done in last 3 months. Richarlison I love him I love his goals I 100% hate how easy he goes down its embarrassing and he doesn't need to do it stay on ya feet lad and run at the defence.

They are exactly my feelings toward him too Johnny. Hopefully he will get rid of that out of his game as he matures.

06 Feb 2019 22:32:18
Much better performance tonight with the lads showing some fight. Davies had a good game and offered more than Siggy has all season, Kenny coped well with the threat of Sane and I thought DCL led the line well. The difference between us and them though was clear to see and will take sometime and a lot of building before we can compete with sides like City, most on their bench tonight would be starters weekly at us that just shows the gulf in class. Proud of the lads performance but also disheartened because again we concede a silly free kick and then fail to defend it, surely the zonal marking needs reassessing. If we can have some consistency and perform to this standard for the remainder of the season we should get a few wins and a top half finish.

I think i would like to see mina in that back 4 when fit. Keane for me is back to how he was last season when his head was down.
Hopefully we can improve again at Watford and get a win.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2019 07:26:26
Mina is not the answer at this level smit666, what do you see in him or is it simply he is the only choice to replace Keane.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Feb 2019 08:42:29
i think mina will come good he has all the physical attributes but i also think morgan feeney is our long term choice the boys a leader.

07 Feb 2019 12:32:13
Feeney tough as nails as well.

I listened to the game on EFC Live and it sounded like we played well and at least got stuck in. Another shoddy refereeing performance with more strange decisions according to Snods and Alan Irving/ Irvine. Good to hear the fans supporting the performance and although we lost it wasn’t a spanking. Hopefully we can keep it up against Watford.
Chins up and go again COYB
Big C.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it was a decent performance Big C, the lads gave their all and it was only a lack of quality that let us down mate...well that and anal marking..

06 Feb 2019 22:17:50
I think it was nothing more than an excercise in damage limitation they missed a lot of chances a couple of great stops by Pickford it could have been a lot worse.
All said though the effort was there but we are so lacking quality and of course confidence it’s a mountain we have to climb to have any hope of competing with the top 4!
Comments this week suggest Silva is the man long term especially to develop the young players so it’s possibly going to be more pain before we see the gain!

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 22:20:19
Consistency is what is needed, performances like that (even with lack of quality as Ed says) , all season would have us on a lot more points than we have now. 26 games and zonal marking and team setup the same as at Hull and Watford, has Mr Silva it seems, still convinced his methods work. I hope he (like the reviled Big Sam, I am not one I hasten to add) uses video replays to watch back. In those videos he would see that once again from set play we concede. Our outfield and open play was full of determination tonight and as I said on the live chat, sort the zonal and set piece out and we should go on a run for the remaining games. Fingers crossed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we done well DFS and showed fight and commitment all night, if we get rid of that anal marking (its all my arse) then we will have a far better chance of getting more points on the board mate..

06 Feb 2019 20:35:05
Chelsea fan here!
I wondered how you guys have felt about Kurt Zoumas performances this season and whether given the chance you would want to sign him?
He was excellent before his serious injury and a real fan favourite.
Cheers.

I would definitely sign him mate. Not his fault Silva has dodgy zonal marking.

Turvey, didn't Chelsea play Zouma as a DM at one time, sure I saw him play there and quite well as I remember.

He's done well in a poor defence. He's worth signing if he became available.

Well done Mr negative. People like you would moan that we didn’t win enough if we won 5-0. Fed up of seeing negative crap on here all the time. It’s depressing that most people on here haven’t got even a bit of wishful thinking let alone faith. Marco is being slammed for his previous selections and slammed for changing it like most of you have been asking for. Let’s get behind the lads and Marco as all this negativity will just make things worse. COYB.

06 Feb 2019 19:40:56
I think the harsh reality is that most fans are expecting a loss tonight regardless of whether they are positive or negative. It is good that he has finally changed but we are currently in relegation form (stats on Sky Sports News earlier) . That is far more concerning to me than anything else.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 19:44:52
It’s not that bad, let’s be honest our current form can’t be much worse so why not give those not playing a chance to shine, our first teamers aren’t performing. Only thing I find odd is Davies in the playmaker role, I’d have had Richarlison on the left and tried Bernard on that role. Oh and have Lookman in too.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 19:52:33
Can't make it, son says no lookman. Is he injured does anyone know.

06 Feb 2019 20:43:06
Good changes. Walcott aside obviously. He's so so so bad. If he doesn't turn it around his career is swan diving. If he's crap with us he's snickered.

Given this is a game we are expected to use, would this not be a good time to bring Macca into the side. Him and Gueye in midfield, allowing Gomes a free role in the middle. Put Lookman and Richie out wide and have Tosun or DCL up front. Play 4.3.3, and put Sig on the bench.
Or dop Keane and play two goalies. 🙈🙉.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

06 Feb 2019 16:40:35
I’d give macca a go definitely. But I’d also keep Gueye out and have Bernard in at 10 keeping Gomez close to macca to mop up any break down. He’s got the technique to be able to get it to Bernard quick enough to cause them problems.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 18:01:49
Id play 442 the usual inept back 5 because that's all we've got fit, maca and davies in the middle bernard and lookman out wide and ricky and tosun upfront press really hard and counter as fast as possible. How worse can it get so shake things up.

Any evertonians wanting to lose against city need to sort their heads out. This is premier league football and we need to show pride. My team for tomorrow is:
Bernard in goal
Anthony Hibbert
Kenwright (c)
Barmaid from the oak
Martina
Van der meyde
The half and half scarf seller
Toffee girl
Reg the park end steward
Angell
Calvert lewin.

hate seeing this 'want to lose to city' attitude, we're only in feb loads of time left, this isn't a must win or seasons lfc's, this win could give marco and the boys the confidence to have a really strong finish.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Completely agree. Whoever wins the league does so on merit. If we are that hell bent on spoiling it for Liverpool then let’s do them at Goodison, and City whilst we’re at it.

Can't abide any fan wanting us to lose so we don't help lpool. These are the same fans crying every week about tactics and players and bad managers. These fans are the reason we get called a small club with a small club mindset!
Support YOUR team and don't worry about anyone else!
The reason you support your team is because you want to see them beat EVERYONE!

Cry arsing every week after a bad performance or a defeat but will happily cheer if we don't win tonight and not moan about how we played or what decisions Silva made or didn't make!
