Funes Mori very homesick apparently - doesn't sound good this to me!

Stories in press this morning that he's struggling to settle in England and is missing home. he's questioning rather it was the right time to leave River. Hopefully Everton do everything they can to help him settle as he's been doing very well since he arrived. Not sure if he has any family with him but if not the the club could look into bringing them over and also the other players should take more time out to help him settle. I think he'll stay and will be a great asset to outlr club.

{Ed025's Note - it must be hard for him joe, being so far from home and family and trying to master a new language and culture..i feel for the guy..

07 Dec 2015 02:21:17
The comments quoted, come from the sun, the boy probablly is unaware of what a lieing load of scum bags this outfit are, am sure he does not know their reputation, of "never let the truth get in the way of a good story" it's more than a good bet that his remarks have been taken out of context, or been prompted by the reporter. If he is unhappy, it has not shown in his performances.

Really hope it's not true, I know he speaks fluent English but it must be hard adapting to a new culture. With worse weather, being booed by your own fans, and having to train with Aiden McGeady ever day.

07 Dec 2015 07:14:47
Don't think its a case of mastering the language Ed, wasn't he brought up in the States.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is a lot different to scouse la. I have yet to meet an American that understands proper English like that.}

07 Dec 2015 08:33:47
still he can always log on to his online bank account and comfort himself in what he's earning playing in the best league in the world!
I know it's difficult but the city argies have all settled. He just needs time.

I agree wakka57 with absolutely everything you said there.

07 Dec 2015 12:42:34
Agree with the 2 above posts. If true and he is home sick then he can bring his family over or friends over. We are not a charity for a profession that is already ridiculously over paid.
I have not actually been sold on him myself, looks like he has a mistake in him and his disabution from the back against Bournemouth was terrible. With that being said he is new to the league and I can see the potential if he gets settled.

I would imagine its just lazy journalism yet again, reading to much into something that's been misquoted.

Anybody else think tomorrow is going to be a tough game Palace are a decent side who by no means will be a push over just hope we can come through it with 3 points it will spring board us up the table.

06 Dec 2015 19:23:09
Tough tough game. Since Jan when Pardew took over, which Premiership team has collected the most points away from home? Arsenal but Palace come in second. Ahead of City, Utd and even Chelsea who won the premiership last year.

So they won't be intimidated coming to Goodison. I'm like a child looking forward to it. Should be a good game.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 19:39:44
No easy game in the Premiership this year, just look at Newcastle vs. Liverpool today. We will have to be at our best but I predict a 3-1 win.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 20:23:49
3.1 I like that Mike but just can't see us putting 3 past them mate they will have us very worried on the counter attack which will make us very wary of them il take a 1 nil all day long but I hope I'm wrong and we win by more but just can't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im hoping for a 7-6 victory stef, i have got palace in the 11 goal buster and they are on 5 at the moment.. :)

06 Dec 2015 20:25:39
What do you predict Stef? I'm going for 2 - 1. If we win I don't care what the score is. God I'm only after remembering, Howard will be in goals. Emmm, ok maybe still 2 - 1 by the skin of our teeth.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im going for 2-0

3-2 Palace.

06 Dec 2015 21:10:18
7.6 ed il take that once we win, NBTB can't predict this one mate I'm going to be honest mate I would probably take anybody tomorrow night other than them I hate when we play them and they are bang in form, Swan you meant 3.2 Everton right?

there are no easy games in the Premier but what separates the clubs that make the top 4 from those who don't is getting a win in these games.

Mori planning going back or just the rags hating us having anyone decent.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The player is simply struggling to settle - it is nothing to do with anything like your stupid comment about the press.}

06 Dec 2015 19:26:49
If you saw which paper was reporting it you would know why we are skeptical about it.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea which paper you are referring to but none are running any sort of "hate" campaign against Everton. His agent has said he is struggling to settle.}

06 Dec 2015 19:38:49
Paper I'm referring to is the sun.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 20:04:43
Ok Ed there's no hate campaign I agree. But you have to admit they love trying to sell our players. So far they have been wrong on all of them stories since Martinez took over. No doubt they comment on all clubs but Everton is definitely one of the teams they love to put down and say our players are off to a 'bigger' club.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 20:43:24
The reason it's us is because of the simple combination of no champions league football but champions league level players. So therefore the papers run stories that put our players at champion league teams. This won't change ever until we are perennial champion league participants.

As annoying as it is we may as well accept it.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 11:18:29
That's a funny analogy Toffee ace. So the teams that get into the champions league, they have champions league players? Correct? So how could our players be champions league players then? There is only 4 places for it. Obviously the players that get in are the champions league players and the ones that don't are not.

On the other hand, say your correct and we have champions league players. Is that not how we would get into it. Need top players to compete to get in, don't we?

I know what saying. Comes back to my point earlier. The papers want to move our players to 'bigger' clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 14:55:08
NBTB. I think you have my point. Basically the minute we have a player that the press deem good enough to play in the CL they'll move them on to a club that regularly plays there. This won't stop until we are one of those teams. We must accept this as its not going to change.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 18:31:36
Oops the potential champions have been beaten and beaten well by a club who are in disarray well I'm in shock how could they lose because they were expected to win by 5 maybe 6.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - my lad backed 6-0 and 7-0 stef...he has got 10 unanswered texts off me already.. :)

06 Dec 2015 18:41:09
Hiding is he ah well he won't be the only one because they were counting the goals they were going to win by a loss was not even contemplated he is one of many ed sad day for the Reds but I'm not grieving lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 07:24:21
I have to admit they are playing more the pressing football that we should be playing, and we should given this talented Squad we have. On that point, we are 11th yet again, now while we have a game in hand, it will need a more consistent approach to finish where I believe and many others believe this Club should be. Given that everyone agrees this is the best Squad we have had for ages, we have to ask what Roberto's approach really is.

Ed. Any reports on the Uruguay lad we signed in the last window?
See Conor Grant scored another two today. Saw one, great long range effort. Seems to be doing well on loan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - leandro rodrigues is apparently doing very well with the U21,s tedster, im not a massive follower of the younger teams to be honest mate but reports about him are very favourable..

06 Dec 2015 18:33:59
He is on his way back from injury.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - cheers stef..

06 Dec 2015 18:36:25
Think he was injured for awhile there. May be mistaken about that. If not, could explain why everything was quiet about him.

06 Dec 2015 18:12:10
Wow what an amazing league this is, just to mention something, since the Southampton game I've had Liverpool fans telling me Ibe is better than Deulofeu. He just looks like a poor mans Raheem Sterling, only saw him once in the championship when James Tavenier (ironically formerly of Newcastle) bullied him for 90 minutes so bad he was nearly in tears from frustration. Watching him against us, all he did was kick it sideways then straight at Bryan, again today, Paul Dummett, a pretty bad player, pocketed him. He just tries to outpace a full back or run around doing zig zags until the defender either trips or gets bored. Is he really better than Deulofeu? Doofy Loofy is miles better. Nice to see "better than Aguero" Sturridge miss a sitter too.

I'm glad Zaha is suspended tomorrow, hopefully that allows us to play a proper winger, probably not but I can hope. If Macca isn't fit who do we play alongside Barry? Please not Osman, for me it has to be Gibson or Cleverley, who would everyone else pick?

Should Jags come straight back in to the team?

On that and last but not least, how impressive has Funes Mori been? Tim Vickery talks nonsense all the time but I was skeptical at 9.5m. For me he has been brilliant, so solid and is a genuine threat from corners, we haven't had a Centre Half who can dominate strikers since 2013-14s Distin.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2015 18:34:13
Not a patch on Del boy. Gibson or Clev yea but funnily enough, I don't know why, but I'd pick Besic for there. Def not Osman.

Wouldn't start Jags either. Funes Mori is doing brilliant. I think everyone were concerned when we heard he cost £9.5m. Early signs are he's worth every penny. Hope we're still saying that in 2 - 3 years time.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 21:12:18
I think Ibe will flourish under Klopp, he's got the talent to be a very good player from the little I have seen but he is not at the same standard as Gerri. But we know how our red neighbours like to think they are better in every department than every other team on the planet!
Be a shame if the report on Mori has any substance to it, he's turning out to be a decent buy. Don't think it was the fact we paid 9.5m for him, NBTB, think the concern at the time was that the price shot up 3 or 4m before we could sign him.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 22:33:01
Yea spudv there was that shock factor of the price going up 3 - 4 million. But at the time he was virtually unknown and there was well known good players going for similar money at the time like Van Dyke to Southampton.

£9.5m is the record for a defender at Everton. So to spend a record amount on an unknown seemed questionable at the time. Gladly Martinez seems to of known what he was doing. If he keeps going the way he is he'll be a great buy. Everton don't have money to throw away so in that respect as well it was another factor in the shock signing.

Seems to be turning out well. Still as the record priced defender he'll have to keep improving.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 17:57:06
Lovely stuff, Reds beaten so if we win tomorrow night 6th place is ours. Come on Martinez go all out for the attack. I'll be glued to the game tomorrow night. Will be over the moon if we win. Get us back to where we were 2 seasons ago.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2015 18:17:41
Just hope we let the attackers attack and the defenders defend. Don't want to get counter attacked and beat 3-2 3 years in a row.

06 Dec 2015 08:37:30
just watched MOTD and hope that Stoke turn up against Liverpool and that City defence turn up against us.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2015 10:06:50
As long as we turn up against city and get at them rather than sitting deep and trying the counter like we did in the league then we can cause them problems. I have every confidence that this can be our year to not only end our drought but win a trophy we are yet to win in our history.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think we have a decent chance as well gray..

06 Dec 2015 15:29:04
Need to convince RM that being 2-0 up is not enough in the Prem and especially so this year. Sorry to sound like a broken record but why does it seem so hard for RM to grasp the simple concept of attack being the best form of defence. When we are in full flow we make it very difficult for opponents. Hate to repeat it but Klopp has got that lot playing and pressing and it is very successful, imagine that style with our talented bunch.

You have a point duncansmum. Hopefully we don't lose more leads in games. Has happened too many times. Hopefully its down to bad luck and its a thing of the past.
